The more you learn about Christianity, the more you will realize that looking to the Old Testament for conflicts will mislead you about Christianity. You are looking to the Law of the Old Testament to understand Christianity.

We, Christians, are not under the Law, but the new Covenant..........try studying the New Testament, the Gospel of Christ to learn of the Christian Church............
That OT law was given by the same God as the NT God. If the OT doesn't matter, it wouldn't be part of HIS word.
