"For if you live after the flesh, YOU SHALL DIE: but if you through the Spirit DO MORTIFY the deeds of the body, you shall live." -Romans 8:13

This is a crucial doctrine that I believe most people have fallen away from, people having seared their concience with a hot iron to a point that allows them to continue in their life of sin. :(

"19*Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
20*Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
21*Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things SHALL NOT INHERIT THE KINGDOM OF GOD." -Galatians 5:19-21

Not only shall people who do such things not inherit the Kingdom of God, but "because of these things comes the WRATH OF GOD UPON THE CHILDREN OF DISOBEDIENCE" -Ephesians 5:6

Galatians continues on in v24 by saying "They that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the passions and lusts."

My question for everyone out there is: have you put the evil deeds of your body to death through the Spirit yet?? I beg you to please do so. Stop walking after the flesh. Let no man deceive you about this! 2 Peter 2 warns strictly about it; "For when these people speak great swelling words of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through much wantonness, those that WERE clean escaped from them who live in error.".... DONT LET THEM DECEIVE YOU!!

"While they promise you liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of THE SAME IS HE BROUGHT IN BONDAGE.
FOR IF AFTER YOU HAVE ESCAPED THE CORRUPTIONS OF THE WORLD THROUGH THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE LORD AND SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST, YOU ARE AGAIN ENTANGLED THEREIN, AND OVERCOME, THE LATTER END IS WORSE WITH YOU THAN IN THE BEGINNING.
FOR IT HAD BEEN BETTER FOR YOU TO HAVE NOT KNOWN THE WAY OF RIGHTEOUSNESS, THEN, AFTER YOU HAVE KNOWN IT, TO TURN FROM THE HOLY COMMANDMENT DELIVERED TO YOU. THOSE WHO DO SUCH ARE CONSIDERED AS A DOG WHO HAS RETURNED TO HIS OWN VOMIT AGAIN!" -2 Peter 2:18-22

"For IF WE SIN willfully AFTER RECEIVING receiving the knowledge of THE TRUTH, there remains NO MORE SACRIFICE FOR SINS, but a CERTAIN FEARFUL LOOKING FOR OF JUDGEMENT AND FIERY INDIGNATION...........OF HOW MUCH MORE SEVERE A PUNISHMENT shall HE be thought WORTHY, who has TRODDEN UNDER FOOT THE SON OF GOD, and has COUNTED THE BLOOD OF THE COVENANT, WHEREWITH HE WAS SANCTIFIED, AN UNHOLY THING, and HAS DONE DISPITE THE SPIRIT OF GRACE?!" -Hebrews 10:26-29

If you continue to sin after recieving the knowledge of the truth, you willingly trample on Jesus Christ, for it was because of our sin that He had to die! How can you continue in your sin after knowing this?! Don't you love Him?! Why do you call Him your Lord and not do what he says?!

My brothers and sisters, let NO MAN deceive you: he that does righteousness IS RIGHTEOUS, EVEN as He IS RIGHTEOUS. The person that commits sin IS OF THE DEVIL. WHOSOEVER IS BORN OF GOD DOES NOT COMMIT SIN; FOR His seed REMAINS IN HIM: AND HE CANNOT SIN, BECAUSE HE IS BORN OF GOD.

Surrender to His Holy Spirit that dwelleth in you, kill the deeds of your flesh through the Spirit. If you dont, and you continue to walk after the flesh having seared your conscience with a hot iron allowing you to do so, you shall surely die. "For it is impossible for those who have tasted the good word of God, if they shall fall away, to renew them again to repentance; seeing they CRUCIFY TO THEMSELVES THE SON OF GOD AFRESH, AND PUT HIM TO AN OPEN SHAME." -Hebrews 6:4-6

I am a child of God, I despise sin just as God does, and it is out of LOVE that I warn my brothers and sisters about the reward of it. Yes Jesus Christ died for all, "THAT WE WHICH LIVE HEREAFTER SHOULD NOT LIVE TO OURSELVES, BUT TO HIM WHICH DIED FOR US AND ROSE AGAIN!!"

To Him that is able to keep us from falling, and to present us faultless before the presence of His Glory, to the only wise God our Savior, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and forever. Amen.

I can't actually kill them myself or I would. So I just depend on Jesus to kill them for me. When they try to rise back up, I go to him in prayer and he does the work for me because I am weak but he is strong:)

Scripture tells us that through His Spirit that lives in us WE ARE OBLIGATED TO MORTIFY THE DEEDS OF THE FLESH. Crucify the flesh as it is written. Do not take the scripture lightly. I beg of you.

Not taking it lightly Sir. It takes the SPIRIT to mortify the deeds of the flesh. So how do you mortify the deeds of the flesh...Only by walking in the SPIRIT. We are but flesh and can't do it of ourselves, it takes the Spirit of God :)

All of this stuff has been addressed multiple times. We are admonished to walk by the spirit and we will not fulfill the lusts of the flesh to do "it's" desires.

Here are threads that address the other aspects as far as they relate to the believer in Christ and the fact that we are new creations now.

Here is a thread that deals with Hebrews 6 and 10. We need to take all scripture in context of who the scripture was written to and for what it's purpose is. Then we need to filter all scripture through the finished work of Christ on the cross and resurrection.

http://christianchat.com/bible-discussion-forum/138679-hebrews-6-4-6-not-seems.html

Here is one that talks about the "works of the flesh" and how they do bring destruction to us. Malice, envy, outbursts of anger...etc and the slandering of others in the body of Christ brings destruction just as much as living the homosexual lifestyle does.

I agree...religion always gets the gospel and the living of the true Christian life backwards. They say - "don't do the works of the flesh and you will be walking by the spirit". But Paul says the complete opposite.

Galatians 5:16 (NASB)
[SUP]16 [/SUP] But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh.

Don't be too hard on this guy. He is already doing that to himself. He chose to work to earn Christ instead of letting Him live through him, and he will have to carry that heavy load for the rest of his life.

Amen. I posted this just to make sure and help people keep it in the front of their minds of who we are. I have seen hatred in posts here, maybe not incredibly obvious or outrageous, but subtle. A work of the flesh no matter how big or small is still just that, a work of the flesh. I think these topics are good to keep conversation flowing relating to the incredible work our Father hath done within us :)..

I once was blind but now I see, thanks to Him who lives in me :)

Supported by scripture (-: Amen !!!

2 Timothy 4:[SUP]18 [/SUP]And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

Pardon me? Willie I'm not sure if you know this but I've already crucified the flesh through the Spirit. I am a new creation that is Christ's :) It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me.. talk about freedom! How can I "carry that heavy load for the rest of my life?"

Considering your comment did not show any fruits of the Spirit, I suggest you read my thread. There's freedom in surrendering to His Spirit brother.

Some christians thinks fornication only applies to prostitution; and not just plain having sex before marriage as a sin.

Some christians thinks uncleanness does not include masturbation; but they never say what uncleanness is being listed inbetween sexual sins in Galatians 5:19-21 as listed as one of the works of the flesh.

Some christians are addicted to porn as that would include lasciviousness ( sexual excessiveness ) & idolatry.

Some christians hate their enemies. With it comes strife and wrath.

Some christians are engaged in religious works that deny Him which stems from heresies which brings about sedition.

Some christians envy others of their popularity in their social status, or their outward appearance or better grades at school.

That is what the race is for, looking to the author & finisher of our faith to help us lay aside every weight & sin so that we may abide in Him to bear fruit in living as His disciples. It is an ongoing daily race that can only be run by faith in Jesus Christ as our Good Shepherd as we can only live this reconciled relationship with God thru Jesus Christ.

If Paul was not perfect yet, but still heeding that upward call of Christ...then that crucifying of yourself is ongoing to keep the works of the flesh away by His grace & by His help in laying aside every weight & sin in being that vessel unto honor.

There is a race to be run, brother, as we need to rest in Him and all His promises to us as our Good Shepherd that He will finish it by leading us by the Holy Spirit in us.

What is "ongoing" of the crucifying of the flesh, brother? Galatians 6:24 says "those who are Christ's **have crucified** the flesh....", it doesnt say continually crucify. How can you kill something that has already been killed? My old man is dead and buried.

Talk about variance that you people are causing in efforts of provoking me in desire of vain glory. Wow. What does Galatians 5:26 say again?

But when you sin again, does that mean the old man is greater than Christ? No. Does it mean that our flesh was not crucified? No. Does that mean that Christ does not live in us? No. It just means that we are still in this sinful flesh living in this sinful world as we are totally dependent on Christ to live as His and to follow Him.

We are to pick up the cross of Christ daily.

Luke 9:23And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.

Does picking up the cross daily means we have not been crucified with Christ? No. We would not be able to pick up the cross daily in following Him if we have not been crucified with Christ. That is how we are following Him when it is Christ in us enabling us to follow Him as we are to deny ourselves as able to, thus crucified with Christ, leaning on Him to follow Him.

Paul could not tell any new believer to mortify the deeds of the body unless they had been crucified with Christ to be able to follow Him. That is Jesus Christ as our Good Shepherd in being Spirit led by Him.

If it was, you would be like Jesus, and "silent", instead of giving in to the need and desire to defend yourself.
