What is the covenant of grace, and when was it first given?

Genesis 3

It's when God gave humanity His salvation and redemption plan even though Adam and Eve didn't deserve forgiveness God have them hope in the promised Seed.

There is no covenant of grace - Paul did state that grace did abound:

Rom 5:20 And law came in, that the offence might abound, and where the sin did abound, the grace did overabound,

Rom 5:21 that even as the sin did reign in the death, so also the grace may reign, through righteousness, to life age-during, through Jesus Christ our Lord.

"But I do not consider my life of any account as dear to myself, so that I may finish my course and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify solemnly of the Gospel of the Grace of God." Acts 20:24

A "gospel" is not a covenant - two different Greek words.

Good answer Ariel, and we see it more clearly as redemptive history progress' in God's covenant with Abraham.

I would say it shows itself with Noah and the ark, also.

Read Galatians 4 and 5 about the fullness of time and how Jesus redeemed us from under the curse of the law and caused us to be adopted as sons. We are no longer under law but under grace. ;)

And yet even the law was given by grace, and did not nullify the covenant with Abraham as Paul goes to great lengths to show. We can see the covenant of grace dispensed in two different ways.. one in the siniatic covenant (Moses), and 2nd under the better new covenant through Christ.

Abraham believed the promises of God and it was counted to him as righteousness... We believe the promises of God in Christ and it is counted to us as Righteousness. One covenant of Grace, dispensed in two different ways. one forshadowed the Better.

The new covenant was God's plan all along, from before the beginning of time. The old covenant was the shadow of the new covenants eternally existing reality.

As far as I know covenants in the bible were established in blood, so there should be some mention of this blood shedding in regards to the "covenant of grace" - book, chapter and verse.

I believe that would refer to the New Testament. Yes, I've read the New Testament. Getting back to the original post, then, I think the New Testament was written within about 100 years of the Lord's birth, though I am old and forgetful, and can't guarantee that.
