Sorry, but I keep going in circles with my opinion on the use of the law.

1) Christ saves.
2) LAW does not.
3) Christ makes us righteous to God.
4) the law teaches benefits of tithing etc.
5) following the LAW is wrong.
5) Christ said to give freely (tithing similar).
6) Jesus "do onto others, you'd have done onto you", (kill,steal,rape,lie,sit-in the fence).
7) the things Christ said emulate the law in alot of ways.

So, is following the law for self-improvement of thought and creating good habits, wrong. Because it may be justification. Saying I can make myself or own life better (peace of mind).

If this is true should I just ignore all of the old testament law, even lessons of its benefits etc. And because the old testament is ALL BASED ON THE LAW. I should not read all of the old testament and only read god's word. The words spoken by Jesus ONLY? Then move with those words? And maybe the rest of new testament?

If so, why do nearly all churches explain the old testament through sermons etc?

Thanks.

Your not alone Jesus was ask the same question basically

Matt 22

35One of them, an expert in the law, tested Him with a question:
36“Teacher, which commandment is the greatest in the Law?”
37Jesus declared, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’d 38This is the first and greatest commandment.
39And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’
40All the Law and the Prophets depend on these two commandments.”

You have two 5s in your list above.

The Law condemns you for such a mistake; God freely forgives you for it.

Law itself is not wrong and can teach you a lot.

The main lesson of the law is that you are a sinner in need of a savior.

Jesus made it simple and said that there is 2 great commandments and if you truly understand and follow them, then the others will happen naturally:

1. Love God with all your heart, soul and mind

2. Love your neighbor as yourself.

THE LAW AND THE PROPHETS DEPEND ON THESE. What about us not under the LAW. As pastor Prince says it was a question about the LAW.

I disagree with your number 5..following the law isn't wrong...believing that by following the law, you will be saved is what is wrong.

We are saved because of our faith in Jesus work on the cross and being born again by the Holy Spirit..not by works of keeping the law.

As Christ said in Matthew 5:17 - Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. We are saved by grace & faith through Christ Jesus. Following the law is wrong if you believe the law itself saves you. The law teaches us how to be as people of God.

The law brings death, but Grace and Truth come by Christ Jesus, who instituted
a better covenant though the shedding of His righteous blood, that you may attain
to life ever after through faith in His propitiatory sacrifice on your behalf due to His
great love for you. Jesus Christ fulfilled the law as well as hundreds of prophecies
that pointed forward to His coming through the older covenants, and now we look
back on what He has done while looking forward to His return at the end of this age,
when all shall be resurrected and judged. Those not found in Him shall be judged by
the law and pass into the second death, while those who believe have their names
written in the Lamb's book of life, for indeed, He is alive forevermore and holds
the keys to life. In Him we live and move and have our being.

This doesn't seem true, as some of the LAW is changed etc, all food is clean etc. Otherwise all Christians would be led by the spirit to be vegetarians, or at least clean meat, eaters.

Our bodies are subjected to the laws of this world.until we are resurrected with Christ. That is why we are told to run the race, right the good fight.

Our spirit has been born again, but this world and our bodies are still being redeemed.

We have to be living sacrifices, keeping our bodies temples holy into God because the Holy Spirit lives within us. Not to save ourselves but to glorify God and be a part of His plan for this world.

The Bible talks of more than one type of law....so which are you referring to?

Romans 8
For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.

Then how do you know what is to be done when YOU CAN DO NOTHING YOURSELVES. Self-growth improving YOURSELF. Says Christ is not enough?

Much of this is that Jesus taught to FIRST love, then follow all these other things that will come from your desire to see the best for others.

Man teaches to get the best for ourselves by dutifully doing good things for others.

If you will CAREFULLY read most law-leaning posts, you will often find that they are working toward receiving something for themselves. One word you will hear a lot is: "rewards."

Now, to look at it another way, how many people do you think would do for others if the Bible told them very plainly that doing so would never really benefit them at all, but would, instead, assure the others (the ones they are helping) that it would be THEM who got the rewards (Heaven, crowns, robes, jeweled cities... whatever) at the end of our lives?..... Not us.

Break it down and tell me which parts you disagree with.
Basically my first post is asking is self-improvement against Christ, if so, anything in the Bible except for what he said, should not be read or followed in any way except from apostles etc.
