Love works no ill towards their neighbor, therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.

Charity is not arrogannt, and not selfish.

God loves people, and the saints should do the same, and should help them out with their needs if possible.

Any person that teaches the prosperity Gospel, withdraw your selves from them, for the love of money is the root of all evil, for it violates the 2 greatest commandments, love God,and love people, for if you love people, you love God,and the love of money neglects the poor and needy, which the love of people is what it is all about.

God only blesses us with our needs, not our wants, for people are more important than our wants, and some people pray amiss to heap it upon their lusts.

Some people like the ways of the world, the lusts of it,money, material things, worldly entertainment, and do not want to let it go,but they also like the eternal life that God is giving to those who believe.

So they cling to that interpretation of the Bible, where they can enjoy the things of the world, and the flesh, but still be right with God,and cannot fall.

There is an interpretation of the Bible for everyone, for the pagan, for the occultist, for the prejudice, for the arrogant, for the Buddhist,Hinduist,Muslim, and many other people that want to hear the Bible according to what they believe, and desire, that is not part of the Bible,so they interpret accordingly.

So there will be a belief that caters to the flesh, and worldliness, and they cannot fall, for sin does not affect their relationship with God.

There are millions of people that believe the prosperity Gospel, but it neglects the poor and needy, and you hear them bragging of their money, and material things, and taking cruises, and vacations, and enjoying things of the world, that neglects the poor and needy, and then say,it is of God when He loves people.

If they do not want to help the poor and needy then John says, the love of God does not dwell in them,James said, their faith is dead, and Paul said, they erred from the faith.

The Bible says that those who name the name of Christ has to depart from iniquity, and awake to righteousness, and sin not,but not all have the knowledge of God,which Paul speaks that to their shame, and a person has departed from God,by the deceitfulness of sin,and those who do not do righteousness is not of God.

And if they do not help the poor and needy the love of God does not dwell in them.

If they love the world,or the things in the world, they are not of the Father.

And love is the fulfilling of the law,but love does not think an evil thought, and does not rejoice in iniquity, but in the truth.

Casting down all imaginations, and bringing every thought to the obedience of Christ.

But some people act as if they are suggestions, and if they violate them it does not apply to them, and even violate the helping the poor out by saying God blesses them with money, and material things.

These people are bold in what they say,and believe.

God wants all people to be saved, and they say not so,which is saying God's kingdom is not love, and He is evil for condemning people that have no input in their salvation, and God said all people have sinned, and come short of the glory of God,so He is not going to be giving any certain people favor, especially when He is no repecter of persons, there is no difference between the Jew and Greek, and said, what makes you differ from another person.

God said withdraw from the people that preach the prosperity Gospel, and they say,God blesses with money, and material things, for personal use.

God said if they do not help the poor and needy, the love of God does not dwell in them, and they say,it is not true, for God blesses us with those things.

The Bible says the Lord knows them who are His,having this SEAL,this is the seal that seals the deal, that they depart from iniquity, and awake to righteousness, and sin not,but not all have the knowledge of God,and do not depart from the living God,by the deceitfulness of sin,but they say sin does not affect their relationship with God.

They say faith alone, but that is only when they confess Christ, and when they receive the Spirit then the responsibility falls on them, for work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, and if you do not continue in the goodness of God,you will be cut off,but they say,we shall never fall, and when they receive the Spirit then if they do not do the works of the Spirit their faith is dead, for a person is justified by works in that circumstance, and not faith alone.

The Lamb was slain from the foundation of the world, but was a future event.

The prophets blood slain from the foundation of the world, but it was a future event.

God had the plan to give mankind salvation from the foundation of the world,so it is the same as of the saints have salvation in the beginning, but it is a future event to all those who accept, for the Spirit and bride, say Come, and anybody that wants that salvation can have it.

But they want to believe God chose them in the beginning, and they can never fall, and faith alone, and works does not keep them right with God,and sin does not affect their relationship with God,and the prosperity Gospel, that way they can live the worldly lifestyle, and if they do not care about the poor and needy,it does not affect them, and if they hold unto sin, they are unscathed, and if they say,I do not feel like laboring for the kingdom of God today, they are alright, that way they got more time for themselves to do what they want to do,and to enjoy the things of the world, but still be right with God.

And the ones that do have a care for people still want all the bases covered, for it is nice to believe we can never fall, but we cannot lie to ourselves.

They will quote that nobody can pluck the saints out of the Father's hands, but that is if they are led of the Spirit acting Christlike, for they ignore the conditions that go along with faith, and love, and confessing Christ.
I follow the activities of three different WoF ministries. Big ones. All three of them spend millions on the poor. So I do have to wonder what you're talking about...Do you have facts or anecdotes? Anecdotes do not stand up in any court. Maybe you were talking about yourself?

A serious question:
Why do you suppose so much space was given to the story of Joseph?
Willie,

I am not sure if this has any bearing on the Prosperity Gospel, but there is no question that Joseph is one of the best "types" of Christ in the OT. However since getting into that subject might derail this thread, perhaps you should start a separate thread on Joseph as a type of Christ, who virtually went from slave to de facto Pharaoh in Egypt, and all because of God's plan for Israel and Messiah.

There is no question that godly men mentioned in the Bible (such as Abraham, Job, and Joseph) also prospered and shared their blessings with others. There are also Christians mentioned in the NT who gave all their possessions to the work of the Gospel and the well-being of the saints. God does not bless Christians because they earned or deserved their blessings, but because of His grace and goodness.

And poverty is not necessarily a virtue, just as wealth is not necessarily a curse. It all depends on how people view wealth, but covetousness is clearly idolatry. Without cash no Christian ministry could survive, so cash is not evil. It is THE LOVE OF MONEY that is the root of all evil. Even Christ and His apostles had a "treasury" (so to speak) but unfortunately, the treasurer (Judas Iscariot) was a traitor and a thief.

As to the Prosperity Gospel, it is basically flawed because it teaches that the more you give to to Prosperity preachers, the more you will prosper. That is more of a con than a Gospel.

I don't know, but Joseph, in faith to God, caused Egypt to prosper big time. I was looking at the Egyptian artifacts in the Grand Canyon and one man said there was evidence of the Egyptians visiting that area many times, raising crops and mining minerals. Apparently they had found an easy route to that area. They thought it could well have been Joseph that was responsible for that. He sent out many ships to gather food and wealth. During that world wide famine, Egypt fed the whole world. Awesome!

Matthew 4:4 It is written that the LORD said, "man doth not live by bread alone but by every word that proceedeth from the mouth of the LORD doth man live."

"For who maketh thee to differ from another? and what hast thou that thou didst not receive? now if thou didst receive it, why dost thou glory, as if thou hadst not received it?"

But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. 7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. 2 Cor 9:6-7

For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. Wherefore is there a price in the hand of a fool to get wisdom, seeing he hath no heart to it? So what value do you place in the seed your receive?

Actually, Jesus discourages setting your heart on your wealth on earth. So believers can save for retirement if they want to as it is responsible to provide for your spouse for retirement,

1 Timothy 5:[SUP]3 [/SUP]Honour widows that are widows indeed.[SUP] 4 [/SUP]But if any widow have children or nephews, let them learn first to shew piety at home, and to requite their parents: for that is good and acceptable before God.[SUP]5 [/SUP]Now she that is a widow indeed, and desolate, trusteth in God, and continueth in supplications and prayers night and day.[SUP] 6 [/SUP]But she that liveth in pleasure is dead while she liveth.[SUP] 7 [/SUP]And these things give in charge, that they may be blameless.[SUP]8 [/SUP]But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.[SUP]9 [/SUP]Let not a widow be taken into the number under threescore years old, having been the wife of one man.

As instruction are given to the church about what kind of widow of the congregation they should be taking in under their wing, verse 8 does go to show the responsibility of the spouse to provide for the spouse for years as a widow.

........but they just have to lean on Him to be ready to go even as widows and leave all that wealth behind by having their hearts set on the things above and not on the things of the earth.

1 Timothy 6:[SUP]17 [/SUP]Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;[SUP] 18 [/SUP]That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate;[SUP] 19 [/SUP]Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.

Verse 19 is in reference to laying up in store in Heaven for themselves as those good deeds done with His provision and His ministering in them is the foundation with good deeds that lays hold on eternal life to be received with rewards by Him as vessels unto honor in His House with crowns at the pre trib rapture event.

Doing good deeds is not for salvation, but for the rewards that comes with our salvation which is why one should sets their hearts on the eternal treasures above and not on the treasures that passes away on earth.

God is a prosperity preacher....Unless He lied?

Proverbs 11:10
[SUP]10 [/SUP]When the righteous prosper, the city rejoices;
and when the wicked perish, there is joy.

Hebrews 11:6 And without faith, it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that he exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him.
PSALM 1:1-3 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly; nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
PSALM 23:1 The Lord is my shepherd I shall not want.
PSALM 35:27 Let them shout for joy, and be glad, that favor my righteous cause: yea, let them say continually, Let the Lord be magnified, "which hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant.
PSALM 37:3-5,11 Trust in the Lord, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed. Delight thyself also in the Lord: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass. But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.
PSALM 37:25-26 I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, or his seed begging bread. He is ever merciful, and lendeth; and his seed is blessed.
PSALM 84:11-12 For the Lord God is a sun and shield: the Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly
PSALM 85:12 Yea, the Lord shall give that which is good; and our land shall yield her increase.
PSALM 92:12-15 The righteous shall flourish like a palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon. Those that be planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of our God. They shall bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing. To shew that the Lord is upright: he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him.
PSALM 115:12-16 The Lord hath been mindful of us: he will bless us; he will bless the house of Israel; he will bless the house of Aaron. He will bless them that fear the Lord, both small and great. The Lord shall increase you more and more, you and your children.

PSALM 122:6-7 Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee. Peace be within thy walls, and prosperity within thy palaces.
MATTHEW 6:31-33 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink: or, wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
. 1 JOHN 5:14-15 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.
ACTS 14:17 Nevertheless he left not himself without witness, in that he did good, and gave us rain from heaven, and fruitful season, filling our hearts with food and gladness.
PROVERBS 3:9-10 Honor thy Lord with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase: So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.
PROVERBS 8:18-21 Riches and honour are with me: yea, durable riches and righteousness. My fruit is better than gold, yea, than fine gold; and my revenue than choice silver. I lead in the way of righteousness, in the midst of the paths of judgment; That I may cause those that love me to inherit substance; and I will fill their treasures.
PHILIPPIANS 4:19 And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches by the Anointed Jesus.
1 CHRONICLES 29:11-12 Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the majesty and the splendor, for everything in heaven and earth is yours. Yours, O Lord, is the kingdom; you are exalted as head over all. Wealth and honor come from you; you are the ruler of all things. In your hands are strength and power to exalt and give strength to all.

DEUTERONOMY 7:12-13 wherefore,it shall come to pass, if ye hearken to these judgments, and keep, and do them, that the Lord thy God shall keep unto thee for the covenant and the mercy which he sware unto thy fathers: and he will love thee, and bless thee, and multiply thee: He will also bless the fruit of thy womb, and the fruit of thy land, thy corn, and the wine, and thine oil, the increase thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep, in the land which he sware unto thy fathers to give thee.
JAMES 1:5-7 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and up-braideth not: and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothering wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.
1 KINGS 2:3 And keep the charge of the LORD thy God, to walk in his ways, to keep his statutes, and his commandments, and his judgments, and his testimonies, as it is written in the law of Moses, that thou mayest prosper in all that thou doest, and whithersoever thou turnest thyself:

PROVERBS 10:2-6 Treasures of wickedness profit nothing, But righteousness delivers from death. The LORD will not allow the righteous soul to famish,But He casts away the desire of the wicked. He who has a slack hand becomes poor, But the hand of the diligent makes rich. He who gathers in summer is a wise son; He who sleeps in harvest is a son who causes shame. Blessings are on the head of the righteous, But violence covers the mouth of the wicked.
PROVERBS 11:25 The generous soul will be made rich, And he who waters will also be watered himself.
PROVERBS 13:4,11-13 he soul of a lazy man desires, and has nothing; But the soul of the diligent shall be made rich. Wealth gained by dishonesty will be diminished,But he who gathers by labor will increase. Hope deferred makes the heart sick, But when the desire comes, it is a tree of life. He who despises the word will be destroyed, But he who fears the commandment will be rewarded.
ISAIAH 58:10-11 If you extend your soul to the hungry And satisfy the afflicted soul, Then your light shall dawn in the darkness, And your darkness shall be as the noonday. The LORD will guide you continually, And satisfy your soul in drought, And strengthen your bones; You shall be like a watered garden, And like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail.
Malachi 3:10-12 "Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, That there may be food in My house, And try Me now in this," Says the LORD of hosts, "If I will not open for you the windows of heaven And pour out for you such blessing That there will not be room enough to receive it. "And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, So that he will not destroy the fruit of your ground, Nor shall the vine fail to bear fruit for you in the field,"Says the LORD of hosts. And all nations will call you blessed For you will be a delightful land,"Says the LORD of hosts.

JOSHUA 1:7-8 Only be strong and very courageous, that you may observe to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may prosper wherever you go. This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.
DEUTERONOMY 28:1-2 “Now it shall come to pass, if you diligently obey the voice of the LORD your God, to observe carefully all His commandments which I command you today, that the LORD your God will set you high above all nations of the earth. And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, because you obey the voice of the LORD your God.
DEUTERONOMY 30:19-20 "I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live; that you may love the LORD your God, that you may obey His voice, and that you may cling to Him, for He is your life and the length of your days; and that you may dwell in the land which the LORD swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give them."
DEUTERONOMY 6:1-3 "Now this is the commandment, and these are the statutes and judgments which the LORD your God has commanded to teach you, that you may observe them in the land which you are crossing over to possess, that you may fear the LORD your God, to keep all His statutes and His commandments which I command you, you and your son and your grandson, all the days of your life, and that your days may be prolonged. 3 Therefore hear, O Israel, and be careful to observe it, that it may be well with you, and that you may multiply greatly as the LORD God of your fathers has promised you a land flowing with milk and honey."
GALATIANS 6:6-10 Let him who is taught the word share in all good things with him who teaches. Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life. And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith.
LEVITICUS 26:3-5 "If you walk in My statutes and keep My commandments, and perform them, then I will give you rain in its season, the land shall yield its produce, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit. LEVITICUS 27:30 And all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land or of the fruit of the tree, is the LORD’s. It is holy to the LORD.
2 CHRONICLES 26:5 He sought God in the days of Zechariah, who had understanding in the visions of God; and as long as he sought the LORD, God made him prosper.
2 CHRONICLES 31:21 And in every work that he began in the service of the house of God, in the law and in the commandment, to seek his God, he did it with all his heart. So he prospered.

PROVERBS 28:13,25 He who covers his sins will not prosper, But whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy. He who is of a proud heart stirs up strife, But he who trusts in the LORD will be prospered.
2 CORINTHIANS 9:6-7 But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.
DEUTERONOMY 28:3-14 "Blessed shall you be in the city, and blessed shall you be in the country. "Blessed shall be the fruit of your body, the produce of your ground and the increase of your herds, the increase of your cattle and the offspring of your flocks. "Blessed shall be your basket and your kneading bowl. "Blessed shall you be when you come in, and blessed shall you be when you go out. "The LORD will cause your enemies who rise against you to be defeated before your face; they shall come out against you one way and flee before you seven ways. "The LORD will command the blessing on you in your storehouses and in all to which you set your hand, and He will bless you in the land which the LORD your God is giving you. "The LORD will establish you as a holy people to Himself, just as He has sworn to you, if you keep the commandments of the LORD your God and walk in His ways. Then all peoples of the earth shall see that you are called by the name of the LORD, and they shall be afraid of you. 11 And the LORD will grant you plenty of goods, in the fruit of your body, in the increase of your livestock, and in the produce of your ground, in the land of which the LORD swore to your fathers to give you. The LORD will open to you His good treasure, the heavens, to give the rain to your land in its season, and to bless all the work of your hand. You shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow. And the LORD will make you the head and not the tail; you shall be above only, and not be beneath, if you heed the commandments of the LORD your God, which I command you today, and are careful to observe them. So you shall not turn aside from any of the words which I command you this day, to the right or the left, to go after other gods to serve them.
DEUTERONOMY 8:17-18 then you say in your heart,"My power and the might of my hand have gained me this wealth." "And you shall remember the LORD your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.
DEUTERONOMY 11:13-15 "And it shall be that if you earnestly obey My commandments which I command you today, to love the LORD your God and serve Him with all your heart and with all your soul, then I will give you the rain for your land in its season, the early rain and the latter rain, that you may gather in your grain, your new wine, and your oil. And I will send grass in your fields for your livestock, that you may eat and be filled."
Proverbs 10:22 The blessing of the Lord brings wealth, and he adds no trouble to it.
Proverbs 10:24 What the righteous desire will be granted.

Oh! No! Wait! He just doesn't know what the bible says...Right?
The prosperity as promised to the nation of Israel was dependent on obedience to Him... and I point out that not every Jew was rich when the nation of Israel was obedient to the Lord... and yet, the nation of Israel was NOT ALWAYS obedient to God as a nation, obviously, for that kind of prosperity to continue regardless.

So the application of prosperity towards saved believers under the New Covenant is a whole lot different, and certainly, scriptures in the N.T. speaks against the prosperity gospel that preaches by giving to the Lord, He will multiply what you had given and return back to the giver seven fold or ten fold or whatever the going rate is now for covetousness which is not godliness with contentment being the greater gain.

Nobody should be giving out of the spirit of covetousness. The fact that the call to give in that fashion shows the spirit of covetousness that issue that kind of call to give.

So we are to warn against the gainsayers.... because there can be no other gospel to preach but Jesus Christ & Him crucified. Read the OP again in how N.T. scripture trumps using scripture from the O.T. that support the Prosperity Gospel. Godliness with contentment is really great gain whereas gambling in giving in hopes of receiving riches is not.
