1 Corinthians 7:1Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote unto me: It is good for a man not to touch a woman.[SUP]2 [/SUP]Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband.

Fornication means having sex before marriage; not just being about prostitution as some believe. Since it is not good for a man to touch a woman, then certainly that does not give sex a free ride with someone you love. That was why it was written to avoid fornication as in sex before marriage; is to get married.

Listen to the world as they call every girl that had sex with a guy, a whore or a harlot, and yet they are not in the illegal business as a hooker.

So carnal christians should not be fooling themselves into thinking fornication is about prostitution.

The Bible in the N.T. agrees that having sex before marriage makes a man & a woman a harlot.

1 Corinthians 6:[SUP]15 [/SUP]Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot? God forbid.[SUP]16 [/SUP]What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh.[SUP]17 [/SUP]But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.[SUP]18 [/SUP]Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.[SUP]19 [/SUP]What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
[SUP]20 [/SUP]For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

Some believers cannot believe that God would expect them to abstain because it is too hard not to.

Thus admitting to lack of self control, right? Where lust reigns in your bodies to satisfy?

Romans 6:
[SUP]10 [/SUP]For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God.[SUP]11 [/SUP]Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.[SUP]12 [/SUP]Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.[SUP]13 [/SUP]Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God. [SUP]14 [/SUP]For sin shall not have dominion over you:...

So how do believers resist fornication? By trusting Jesus Christ as your Good Shepherd, hoping in Him to deliver you from your bondage to sin and to death.

1 John 3:
[SUP]3 [/SUP]And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.....[SUP]8 [/SUP]He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

2 Timothy 4:
[SUP]18 [/SUP]And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

So ask Him for help not to have any provision for the flesh around that would put fire in your bosom.

Romans 13:[SUP]13 [/SUP]Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying.[SUP]14 [/SUP]But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.

1 John 2:
[SUP]15 [/SUP]Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.[SUP]16 [/SUP]For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.[SUP]17 [/SUP]And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

Proverbs 6:27Can a man take fire in his bosom, and his clothes not be burned?

1 Corinthians 10:
[SUP]12 [/SUP]Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.[SUP]13 [/SUP]There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

So where your thoughts are.....sowing to the works of the flesh.. or leaning in Him in keeping your mind on good things.

2 Corinthians 10:
[SUP]4 [/SUP](For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)[SUP]5 [/SUP]Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;[SUP]6 [/SUP]And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.

Philippians 4:[SUP]6 [/SUP]Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.[SUP]7 [/SUP]And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.[SUP]8 [/SUP]Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

Jude 1:
[SUP]24 [/SUP]Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,[SUP]25 [/SUP]To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.

So Jesus is able to keep you from giving in to the temptations of sinning by fornication, adultery, pornography, & masturbation which is of the sin of uncleanness as described as a sex sin in the N.T.

Galatians 5:
[SUP]19 [/SUP]Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,[SUP]20 [/SUP]Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,[SUP]21 [/SUP]Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.[SUP]22 [/SUP]But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,[SUP]23 [/SUP]Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.[SUP]24 [/SUP]And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.[SUP]25 [/SUP]If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

So if you do not want to be left behind at the pre tribulational rapture event, I suggest calling on Jesus Christ now to forigive you of your sins, deliver you from it, and keep you from it by walking in the light mentally and physically as He did and since He is in you & with you always, He will help you to overcome; believe in Him and trust Him as your personal Good Shepherd to do it.

Hebrews 12:1
Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,[SUP]2[/SUP]Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

1 Corinthians 9:[SUP]24 [/SUP]Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.[SUP]25 [/SUP]And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.[SUP]26 [/SUP]I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air:[SUP]27 [/SUP]But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

Psalm 19:
[SUP]12 [/SUP]Who can understand his errors? cleanse thou me from secret faults.13Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression.[SUP]14 [/SUP]Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer.

Thank you for sharing.

Jesus would call that adultery.

Matthew 5:[SUP]31 [/SUP]It hath been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement:[SUP]32 [/SUP]But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.

There is forgiveness for when what is done is done,.........

1 John 1:
[SUP]9 [/SUP]If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

......but no one should be preaching to another to go ahead and get a divorce; saying stuff like, "God will forgive you"; or preaching that "getting a divorce is not an unforgivable sin".

What's to keep the devil into tempting to end the next marriage?

Romans 6:
[SUP]15 [/SUP]What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.[SUP]16 [/SUP]Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?27But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.[SUP]18 [/SUP]Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.[SUP]19 [/SUP]I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness.[SUP]20 [/SUP]For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness.[SUP]21 [/SUP]What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death.[SUP]22 [/SUP]But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.[SUP]23 [/SUP]For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

It is disturbing when pastors put hurdles in front of people that want to get married to make sure they are right to get married, even leading them to make promises and commitments to Christ to ensure it to be right, but when it comes to a divorce, no roadblocks are necessary; get the divorce.

Not what my Bible says to do.

1 Corinthians 7:
[SUP]3 [/SUP]Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence: and likewise also the wife unto the husband.[SUP]4 [/SUP]The wife hath not power of her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband hath not power of his own body, but the wife.[SUP]5 [/SUP]Defraud ye not one the other, except it be with consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again, that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency..............[SUP]10 [/SUP]And unto the married I command, yet not I, but the Lord, Let not the wife depart from her husband:[SUP]11 [/SUP]But and if she depart, let her remain unmarried or be reconciled to her husband: and let not the husband put away his wife.

Because the world gives an easy out with a divorce, and pastors of churches that accept social values in compromising the word in our walk with Him, many believers go astray and commit sin.

Those that have grown and know better now, need to lean on Jesus to forgive those that led them astray, but not support the false teaching & the false sayings that led them astray, & expose the works of darkness so that others do not go astray when they should be seeking help from the Lord.

Some believers I have come across in life do think fornication is just about prostitution and so just getting the message out there in case some more think that way.

Some even think it is impossible not to have sex before marriage, yet they are believers in Jesus Christ.

And yes, the ones I have come across, refused to believe it and the warning about losing their inheritance if they did not repent. I can only hope the Lord will lead them to repentance later on.

Definition of fornication

  • : consensual (see consensual 2) sexual intercourse between two persons not married to each other — compare adultery

[h=2]What’s the difference between adultery and fornication?[/h][FONT=&quot]In case you were wondering, the words adultery and adult are not etymologically related (in other words, adultery didn’t grow out of adult in the way that punditry grew out of pundit). Although both words come from Latin and share the same first five letters, adultery is from adulterāre (“to pollute, defile, commit adultery”), a word formed ultimately from the Latin elements ad- “to, near” and alter “other.” English adult comes from adultus, which is the past participle of the Latin word adolescere (“to grow up”).
[FONT=&quot]In legal use there is a difference between adultery and fornication. Adultery is only used when at least one of the parties involved (either male or female) is married, whereas fornication may be used to describe two people who are unmarried (to each other or anyone else) engaging in consensual sexual intercourse.

[h=2]rigin and Etymology of fornication[/h][FONT=&quot]Late Latin fornicatio, from fornicare to have intercourse with prostitutes, from Latin fornic-, fornix arch, vault, brothel

Our society has gradually moved, over my lifetime, from the idea of keeping young lovers apart so that they would not have sex before marriage, into what we have today, the idea that sex before marriage is a normal and acceptable happening. Before we had the acceptance of gay marriage, we had the acceptance of fornication.

Yes its true.
You dont need to be a prostitute before considering fornication as a grievous sin.
having sex before marriage is what is termed as fornication. and many people nowadays fornicate even without seeing its implications. our body is the temple of God. why so? because the spirit of the Lord dwells within us. Thats why we must seek not to defile it .

IS SEX GOOD: BEFORE AND OUTSIDE MARRIAGE |

the above site contains deep explaination about fornication, adultery and its implications.

This is great great but I agree that it is a bit confusing to some like myself that aren't use to reading scripture.

What I like to say about this subject is common sense real world situations that people can relate to like

1:God says fornication is bad because you can catch horrible diseases that are not only a slow and painful death but those diseases contaminate his gene pool.

2: God says that fornication is bad because it causes social unrest like domestic violence brother will turn against brother

3: in today's society there is a unspoken legal prostitution where people will spend decades paying out currency for sex maybe not directly but indirectly because it costs money to make yourself look goodand hang out at the clubs.

I think that God advises us for real world reasons.

Fornication means having sex before marriage; not just being about prostitution as some believe. Since it is not good for a man to touch a woman, then certainly that does not give sex a free ride with someone you love. That was why it was written to avoid fornication as in sex before marriage; is to get married.
fornication is immoral sex or breaking the sex laws in Leviticus, sex before marriage is not mentioned. no need to add whats not there.
use some common sense, a man having sex with a woman and only one woman is not the same as a man having sex with a farm animal or another man.
