John 15:8 "Herein is my father glorified, that ye bear much fruit: so shall ye be my disciples." -----Let's discuss what promotes fruit in our lives. Let's look at some things that may inhibit a fruitful life. ****I believe we can grow in God----1. saved 2. disciples 3. servants 4. friends 5. sons/daughters. Many people want to know God as a friend---but I think there is some roadblocks to this if we are not being discipled and becoming servants...

God produces the fruit. What hinders Him is us trying to do His job for Him.

"Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire." (Matthew 7:17-19)

"Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by his fruit." (Matthew 12:33)

"A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh." (Luke 6:45)

What does it mean to "abide in Christ" on a practical level? It almost seems like what some would call "Christianese", and it needs clarifying in order to have an application that leads to results. So, how would you guys define abiding in Christ?

"The branch of the vine does not worry, and toil, and rush here to seek for sunshine, and there to find rain. No; it rests in union and communion with the vine; and at the right time, and in the right way, is the right fruit found on it. Let us so abide in the Lord Jesus.” - Hudson Taylor

What is fruit? From my experience, Most believers are going answer with some overt type of fruit. Sinning less, giving, being moral, loving.

When most fruit is not seen by man. But God sees it.

Not getting angry and frustrated when we used to "solve" problems that way.

Being respectful in situations that we were never respectful in before.

Raising kids as unto the Lord.

Not gossiping when we used to jump on the judgement train at the drop of a hat.

Having a relaxed mental attitude, when we used to fret, complain, worry.

All due to growing in His Grace and knowledge.

I can fake a bunch of overt fruit and fool men. But I can't fake motives and mental attitude...........what God judges.

Study to show yourself approved. We can't abide in Christ by not knowing His mind.

A constant , daily intake of His word is the only way we can abide in Christ. If we don't, our walk will be, "what are you doing for Jesus?" rather than, " What the Lord Jesus Christ HAS done for you."

Abiding in Christ is a position or where we reside as new creations in Christ because we are "in Christ" - we are "in the Spirit" Rom. 8:9

There is also the abiding in what Christ has already done for us as we learn to live by His life in and through us. As we participate in His life by beholding the glory of the Lord as in a mirror - His fruit will be bearing in our lives. We are transformed by the Holy Spirit. 2 Cor. 3:17-18

Abiding in Christ has 2 aspects and being established in the first one - the fact that we are in Christ joined as one spirit with Him forever needs to be cemented in our minds in order to for it to be renewed to the 2nd aspect where the life of Christ bears good fruit to the glory of God in us.

It has everything to do with "union and communion". Knowing we are in union as one with the Lord and in that knowledge - we commune daily with our loving Father and Lord.

We are GOD's workmanship created In CHRIST JESUS unto good works that was before ordained that we should walk In them.
For the fruit of the Spirit Is love,joy,peace,goodness,long-suffering,gentleness,faith,meekness and temperance.

All the law and the prophets hinge on one word, love.

If a person has this spiritual fruit, they are equipped to do good works.

The Parable of the Prodigal Son shows that both sons, young and old wanted the things from the father, but wanted nothing to do with the father (a relationship).

The Holy Spirit produces the fruit in us as we grow in grace and in the knowledge of Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. 2 Peter 3:18, Romans 8:2, 10, 13

The Believer must follow Gods redemption plan which is Faith exclusively in Christ and the Cross (Romans 8:2). Anything and everything else places the Believer under "For what the law could not do (Romans 8:3)."

The non Believer falls in the category of John 3:16. The Believer is under 1 Corinthians 1:18.
