.....You get saved to become a good person" A person can't come to Christ by being right., a person comes to Christ so they can be made right.

How sad is it, then, that some people in the world don't come to Christ simply because they don't wish to be a hypocrite? They know God's laws under the old covenant and know they are incapable of doing it all. So, in their misunderstanding of the Gospel, they say to themselves, "Why try?" "I'm not going to be like those Christians who are hypocrites to their own rules."

It's too bad that some of the world's perception of Christianity is a religion of rules and regulations instead of reconciliation to the loving God, a fellowship made for eternity. So you are right that one doesn't become good in order to be saved. Just as a doctor comes for the sick, so has Christ came and is, for the unrighteous sinner.

Hypocrisy shouldn't be a reason one doesn't come to Christ. He knows that humans are failures at keeping His perfect standard. This is why He died for us and resurrected, so that we may have life and it more abundantly. Eternal life and so that we would be made new creations led by the Spirit serving in the newness of the spirit. He sanctifies us, progressively through life and also immediately. Hypocrisy then is simply espousing rules oneself doesn't abide by and requiring it of others, but we are not under law but grace, hence sin doesn't have dominion over us.

To sum it up, Christ saved us while yet we were sinners. He came for sinners, and the place reserved for sinners, opposed to fire and brimstone teaching, is not Hell but Heaven. He came to save, not condemn. Sinners, far and wide, no matter how low they are in their current state God's hand is extended. He came for you. For me. For all humanity. That is His desire. To be reconciled.

This is so true Ben. Although what is commonly called "Lordship salvation" sounds right, it is in fact so wrong. How can a person make Jesus Christ the Lord of their lives before they decide to come to Jesus the Lord? They have to come to Jesus the Savior in order to understand how He is Lord of thier lives.

Many have been blocked from entering based on this type of teaching. They don't know how to make Jesus Lord of their lives because their minds and lives are bankrupt. We all have nothing worth giving to Him when we come. He has everything to give us.

I'm thinking of a verse today that says "come and buy without money" Wow how hard is that for us human beings to understand? How can we buy anything or have anything here on earth without money? That is such an impossible scenario. Yet Jesus calls us to do just that.

I'm in the process of buying a house and without money and good credit no one would even talk to me. There is no point in even considering such a venture. But in Christ we have all things pertaining to life and Godliness given to us by God Himself so we can have all Jesus died to give us without paying for it.

Actually, a person CAN come to Christ by being right. :) Right about who He is, and what He has done for them.

Another interesting and wonderful truth is when we come to Christ first and all through our lives even., we don't come based on our knowledge of our sin., but His knowledge of our sin. Our understanding is extremely limited while His is all knowing. When I confessed sins and asked for forgiveness I later found He forgave me for things I didn't even know I was doing. He saves to the uttermost.

We are "bankrupt" I didn't know just how bankrupt until I was saved for a long time. We are far worse than we even knew. And yet when we see the over extension of and far reaching gift of grace IN Christ that it takes to save a human soul I'm sooooooooooo comforted that it's HIS knowledge of me and not my knowledge of me.

Has anyone else come to see this truth that brings amazing peace to your heart? It can take you through the most difficult times in life. It will demolish satan's fast and furious blows to your heart and soul. Christ absorbed all that and more. Salvation is the gift that keeps on giving.

"When we've been there 10,000 years bright shining as the sun, we've no less days to sing God's praise than when we first begun.." And that also pertains to now while here on earth because as we move along in our Christian lives we should be seeing more and more of His love and grace extended as we see Him revealed through the Bible and the Holy Spirit in our lives.

"The Christian is in a different position from other people who are trying to do good. The Christian thinks any good he does come from the Christ-life inside him. He does not think God will love us because we are good, but that God will make us good because He loves us” - C. S. Lewis
