Abraham was 99 and Ishmael was 13 when they were circumcised.

So Isaac would have been 14 years younger than Ishamel...

Why did Abraham not want Isaac to have a Canaanite wife?

Listening to Exodus 10 and Moses confrontation.

Why keep them as a slaves?

Hail, diseased livestock, frogs, water to blood, knats, locusts (west wind driven into red sea), 3 days of darkness, death of first born

Exodus 25....I know that the tabernacle Has a lot of symbolism in it but this part and the ceremonial laws and the list of begot....I find it hard to focus. So a break and then we will see how long listening to the whole Bible will take. Might do some research of I find time.

I thought it was kind of funny that Moses ran from his staff turned into a snake. I would have run too.

Started the book of Deuteronomy today.

I found it interesting that Leviticus 19 v 23-25 tells us to not eat the fruit of fruit trees 3 years after we plant it and my mom gave me the same advice...to allow the roots to grow so it will be more productive later.

I like seeing some of the practical applications found in the Bible.

For example I wonder how accurate the leprosy diagnosis is for infectious skin diseases?

Reading through the Bible is a humbling experience. No matter how often I read it, I realize how much more I have to learn.

Joshua 9....can you imagine marching around a city for 7 days silent with just trumpets?

I didn't realize that Joshua met Jesus.

There is so much killing in Judges and how God fought with them to defeat the giants that used to live in the land.

I wonder at the stress on destroying all treasure and gold used to make the idols and how when one man disobeyed the whole nation was made weak.

When did we as a society stop thinking as the collective "we" to indivualized human beings?

Even in the new testament the letters are addressed to the Church at a certain location and the whole was reprimanded for the sins of a few.

Some days I feel like we walk around thinking we live in an isolated bubble when I truth we are just a small fish in a very big sea.

Just finished the book of Judges and stuck on Samson story.

He seems like such an unlikely hero: a drunk who chased after foreign table dancers. However God used him to deliver His people from oppression, kind of shows that God can use anyone He chooses.

Kings and Chronicles cover much of the same information. I guess because one was written by Nathan and the other,by another prophet who lived through the same time period.

Don't know why David's son Rehaboam didn't listen to the counsel of the old men.

"My pinkie is thicker than my father's thigh....my father disciplined you with whips, I will discipline you with scorpions."

Respect takes more than a title.

I need a good Biblical timeline. All these names and kings get mixed up in my head.

Anyone have a good link?

In the book of Ezra now.

Nehemiah 8
Ezra the priest and scribe, and the Levites who taught the people said to all the people, “This day is holy to the Lord your God; do not mourn nor weep.” For all the people wept, when they heard the words of the Law. ** Then he said to them, “Go your way, eat the fat, drink the sweet, and send portions to those for whom nothing is prepared; for this day is holy to our Lord. Do not sorrow, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.” So the Levites quieted all the people, saying, “Be still, for the day is holy; do not be grieved.” And all the people went their way to eat and drink, to send portions and rejoice greatly, because they understood the words that were declared to them.

I wonder if anyone would cry from joy after hearing God's laws today because they understand?

I believe everyone would do well to spend one week a year sleeping in tents. Makes you realize the world is more than our electronic devices and personal diversions.
