When discussions like this arise there is always "Jesus said we are to turn your other cheek". True very true but, Jesus only says that once. He does not say "now turn back". How many time in the OT do we see Isreal not only defending itself but attacking? Did not God lengthen a day so the last enemy could be killed? I have guns and a legal carry conceal permit and if i need to draw then it means i am defending a life. I may "turn the other cheek" but it also depends on the situation. I wont "turn the other cheek" if a life is in danger.

If you have a kids then you totally understand why i am willing to kill to save their life.

No doubt we can defend without killing; many folks here have done it more times than we can remember, but if it's absolutely necessary, then so be it.

Much respect for the Red Wings. I might be seeing them in April.
Dude you better not be chearing the wings over the Pens. I know you bleed "black and gold" brother. Sorry CK but Utah is a fellow "yinzer" so i had to speak up. At least it isnt Philly. Lol

Ill have to find those the next time i am there. We mainly visit the old downtown area and the Ameristar. We did a ghost tour of st charles the last time and it was a bit weird. Lots of Missouri history in that area. I like that.

I haven't read through this entire thread so I don't know of someone has touched on this yet but "turn the other cheek" is in reference to civil matter. If you look at the context of scripture you'll see that it is absolutely not in reference to a life and death situation.
Jesus even told His disciples to go buy a sword. Chances are that was for protection, not a fashion statement. Using lethal force to protect oneself or others can be backed up in scripture. If someone broke into my home and my life or my child's life was in danger you better I'll fight. Not turn the other cheek so they can shoot me on the other side.

I do understand that the bible does say you can kill if you really need to . I wish it had a sub note that said try to avoid doing that though. Some people just shoot first. Id rather ax some questions and figure out what the person is up to. If i get kilt in the mean to I guess ill have to live with that. Thats hard to word! lol

There's a term in law enforcement called "eliminating the threat". That doesn't mean taking a life but lessening the danger of the situation. It could mean breaking an arm or knocking someone out. If there's a way to defend oneself without taking a life then do so. Just because it may be legal in some states to shoot an intruder in your home doesn't mean you should.

You shall not murder..killing is not murder.
Even before Jesus went on the mount to preach they had swords with them. They were never unarmed.
I am pro self defense and pro Military. God has led wars and never spoke out against self defense, he spoke out against revenge. Nor did Jesus say anything against the open crucifixions or any other killing method as punishment.
I will not let a guy rape me or strangle me..opposite I will make sure that that guy will not try that on anyone else either.
Just sayin.
