I like having time at the start to 'meet and greet', it makes the time more personal and less like a business meeting.

In the cannibal churches of Papua that call it "greet and eat"... but that's a whole 'nother story.

The chat over coffee, the fellowship.

That you can go up to the pray team or friends or even the person sitting near you and
ask for prayer.

That people who you don't even know will sit and have a chat with you.

The worship its awesome.

The sense and presence of the Holy Spirit is so strong in the services.

The preaching

The fact that despite having a congregation of over 1000 all the pastors know me by name.
(That really impresses me as I'm useless at remembering names).

That you can go up to any of the pastors with any ideas you may have.

The family/friends movie nights held once a month in the church.

The womens small group I go to.

That often in the middle of the service, the pastor will point out a verse and suggest you chat
about it with the people around you for a few minutes. A good way to get to know people and a
good way to be actively involved in the sermon.

I could go on but won't. Lol

It edifies me when the pastor reads a familiar passage during his sermon, and then explains it in a way I did not understand before.

I am quite a shy reserved person when it comes to meet and greet in an open door as such.

Apparently you have to smile. I tried it once, personally I think it's overrated.
Only joking.

On a serious note I actually sit at the back of our church. I do so for a reason. That reason being that our city has a lot of homeless people, drug addicts and alike. Undersirables as the world would call them. I meet and greet them. That edifies me.

Seeing broken people come into our church and I can sit with them. I've seen a few come to Christ, not because of what I have done but because of what Jesus has done, through me and others who have also come alongside.

Also seeing believers who are struggling and they meet with God and are released, set free. Amazing

Seeing people baptised. Now that does put smile on my face a big big smile and a praise in my heart.

Hardly anything gets to my heart like seeing dozens of people leaving their seats at almost any time during the service to go pray for and with someone else.

I've gone into the bathroom before, to find someone being prayed for in there.... or in the parking lot... or over coffee and donuts.

I like special events, like during summer when they hold a 'Picnic in the Park-inglot'

Or Sillerud in Minnesota, they hold a service out on the lake ice amid a circle of ice fishing houses

Or Lake Sarah Lutheran, they rent a pontoon boat and have service in the lake in the spring.

That's awesome, that you sit in back and welcome those who need it the most :) I like churches that, instead of just teaching you, they teach you to go teach others.

I'm in the choir and have to be there early to rehearse our anthem. Then we hang out for a few minutes till it's time for church to start. I enjoy that part.

Your anthem? What would that be?

So ... taps fingers on desk ...

3 pages, 47 posts on the negatives of church,

1 page 16 posts on the positives of church

... taps fingers on desk,

wondering which of a myriad of possible responses that engenders to use here

Yes, my wife and I are part of the greeting ministry in which we greet people as they enter the church and we hand out church bulletins. We really enjoy greeting people and making them feel warm and welcome when they get to church. :)

Yes that is one of my favorite things is greeting folks at the door . I also serve as the English- Spanish interpreter for any That show up that only speak Spanish. I really enjoy interpreting for the Spanish speaking folks that come to our services. We are not set up formally for bilingual services but we will not turn folks away that are seeking to worship . So usually it is just me repeating what the pastor says . It is just so rewarding to help folks that are seeking to worship with us .
Blessings
