My question is based upon two beliefs,, First believe is people say when your saved you also recieve salvation ?

Second believe is your saved but your salvation hasnt been decided yet ?.

[h=1]Ephesians 4:30-32King James Version (KJV)[/h] [SUP]30 [/SUP]And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. ?..

Im posting a poll as i really do want to know who believes what and why without making it personal pls thanks sort of like a testimonial thread if you will..

the Bible speaks of salvation in three tenses...

we have been saved (e.g. Eph 2:8-9)

we are being saved (e.g. 1 Cor 2:15)

we will be saved (e.g. Phil 1:28)

just gotta believe it all. :)

I thought our spirits are ruled by our souls/flesh if we are not saved

don't we receive Jesus as our Savior as we are? we don't change ourselves apart from the Holy Spirit in us, so I don't quite get the source for your question

“To say that we are able by our own efforts to think good thoughts or give God spiritual obedience before we are spiritually regenerate is to overthrow the gospel and the faith of the universal church in all ages.”
- John Owen

John Owen agrees with you and he was a LOT smarter than i am.
though i agree, as well. ;)

I don't know who he is, but obviously a sensible man :)

it's just what I understand from scripture

we are pretty helpless and hopeless without God and it does good to remember that I think

Hi seven seas

Believe we are a trichotomy:
Body
Soul
Spirit

You got the order mixed up...

Our soul is ruled by our spirit.
Not the other way around.

Your question makes no sense.
If the spirit is alive in your body...
You ARE saved.

Could you be saved if the spirit is dead in your body??

We receive salvation because we are given a new spirit that will never die.If any man has not the Spirit of Christ, the Holy Spirit of God they do not belong to Christ.

We therefore have the treasure of that authority in these earthen bodies of death but is not of us.We preach Christ and not ourselves.

2Co 4:7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.

yup

nope

until we are saved, our souls run the show.

when we are born again, our spirit is alive in Christ and things start to change

walk in the spirit means to not let your soul/flesh rule over your body the way it did before you were saved

when God told Adam and Eve they would die if they ate from the tree in the garden, they did. They died spiritually.

If you will reread that post, you will see I noted three parts to us and stated the same as I did above

Hi notmyown: Question, what did John Owen mean by the words," give God spiritual obedience"? Of course we cannot live a spiritual life pleasing to God unless we are saved and have the indwelling Spirit, to that I agree. On the other hand, if Owen is saying that a lost person does not have the ability to make a choice for God, then I disagree.

why does it make no sence ? the bible is clear you can recieve the spirit... but your salvation isnt decided until the day of redemption.

Were you there in "The Beginning?"

I was redeemed before I ever came into existence.
So if you are asking me if I had anything to do with it? The answer is no.

in context, he was referring to the former, though he (and i) would agree with the latter as well.
