Because isnt a powerful delusion the same as a lie?

I think God is dealing with those who lie. Sending a powerful delusion is not quite a lie...it is more misleading whose who do lie. Excellent question BTW!

It is basically saying since they received not the truth, they thus received the lies of Satan, and God allows Satan to live, until its his time to be cast into hell.

You have to read the earlier verses (I've posted a couple but read all of them
to get the context)

2 Thessalonians 2:9-12 NLT
[9] This man will come to do the work of Satan with counterfeit power and signs
and miracles. [10] He will use every kind of evil deception to fool those on their
way to destruction, because they refuse to love and accept the truth that would
save them. [11] So God will cause them to be greatly deceived, and they will
believe these lies. [12] Then they will be condemned for enjoying evil rather than
believing the truth.

2 Thessalonians 2:9-12 NKJV
[9] The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all
power, signs, and lying wonders, [10] and with all unrighteous deception among
those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they
might be saved. [11] And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that
they should believe the lie, [12] that they all may be condemned who did not believe
the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

It's setting out that there will be people who CHOSE not to believe the love and truth of God.
They CHOSE to believe the lies of Satan and take pleasure in unrighteousness. So God will
harden their hearts even further, because they have rejected Him.

In other words they have already CHOSEN to commit the unpardonable sin.

See also the following verses. You may find it helpful to read the surrounding verses
as well.

Romans 1:28 NLT
[28] Since they thought it foolish to acknowledge God, he abandoned them to their
foolish thinking and let them do things that should never be done.

John 12:37-40 NKJV
[37] But although He had done so many signs before them, they did not believe
in Him, [38] that the word of Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, which he
spoke: "Lord, who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm of the
LORD been revealed?" [39] Therefore they could not believe, because Isaiah
said again: [40] "He has blinded their eyes and hardened their hearts, Lest
they should see with their eyes, Lest they should understand with their hearts
and turn, So that I should heal them."

Matthew 12:31-32 NKJV
[31] "Therefore I say to you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men,
but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven men. [32] Anyone
who speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but whoever
speaks against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him, either in this age
or in the age to come.

If ever there was a warning about putting off the day of salvation, for the pleasures of
the world, its this!

read it in context
[FONT=&quot]7 For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.[/FONT]
[FONT=&quot]8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:[/FONT]
[FONT=&quot]9 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,[/FONT]
[FONT=&quot]10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.[/FONT]
[FONT=&quot]11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:[/FONT]
[FONT=&quot]12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

and a pretty good commentary
[/FONT]

Pulpit Commentary
[FONT=&quot]Verse 11. - For this cause; on account of their being destitute of a love of the truth. God shall send them; or rather, God sends them; the present being chosen because the apostasy had already commenced, the mystery of lawlessness was already working. Strong delusion; or, a working of error (R.V.). These words are not to be weakened, as if they meant merely that in righteous judgment God permitted strong delusion to be sent them; the words are not a mere assertion of judicial permission, but of actual retribution. It is the ordinance of God that the wicked by their wicked actions fall into greater wickedness, and that thus sin is punished by sin; and what is an ordinance of God is appointed by God himself. That they should believe a lie; or rather, the lie, namely the falsehood which the man of sin disseminates by his deceit of unrighteousness. Being destitute of the love of the truth, they are necessarily led to believe a lie - their minds are open to all manner of falsehood and delusion.[/FONT]

Angel: For one thing it means that those who read the account that Jesus gave of his return to rapture the church, and reject that truth, that they come under a powerful delusion so that they believe a pre-trib rapture of the church that is not even in the New Testament. That is one example of what that means...when one is presented with clear and obvious truth and decides to reject that truth, then they are subject to delusion.

hello Angelique.

God cannot lie,and this delusion does not come from God,although He is allowing it to happen.

This is a prophesy concerning the end time, when God is going to end this sin business on earth, and cause all who do not love Him to follow the beast kingdom, and take the mark of the beast,in which they give up their human rights, and ability to repent, and then God will put them down.

Rev 9:13 And the sixth angel sounded, and I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar which is before God,
Rev 9:14 Saying to the sixth angel which had the trumpet, Loose the four angels which are bound in the great river Euphrates.
Rev 9:15 And the four angels were loosed, which were prepared for an hour, and a day, and a month, and a year, for to slay the third part of men.
Rev 9:16 And the number of the army of the horsemen were two hundred thousand thousand: and I heard the number of them.
Rev 9:17 And thus I saw the horses in the vision, and them that sat on them, having breastplates of fire, and of jacinth, and brimstone: and the heads of the horses were as the heads of lions; and out of their mouths issued fire and smoke and brimstone.
Rev 9:18 By these three was the third part of men killed, by the fire, and by the smoke, and by the brimstone, which issued out of their mouths.
Rev 9:19 For their power is in their mouth, and in their tails: for their tails were like unto serpents, and had heads, and with them they do hurt.
Rev 9:20 And the rest of the men which were not killed by these plagues yet repented not of the works of their hands, that they should not worship devils, and idols of gold, and silver, and brass, and stone, and of wood: which neither can see, nor hear, nor walk:
Rev 9:21 Neither repented they of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornication, nor of their thefts.

God always gives warnings before He cracks down on the wicked, which are the 6 trumpets,6 disasters that happen on earth that the world knows about, but after each trumpet they will not repent of their sins, and turn to God,and after the 6th trumpet, which is the worse war in the history of mankind, they still will not repent of their sins, and turn to God,so God allows the beast to deceive all people who do not love God to follow the beast kingdom.

Since the 6 trumpets,6 warnings, did not turn them to God,He will allow the beast to deceive all people that do not love God to follow the beast kingdom,so He can end this sin business on the entire planet.

Rev 12:7 And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels,
Rev 12:8 And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven.
Rev 12:9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
Rev 12:10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.
Rev 12:11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.
Rev 12:12 Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.
Rev 12:13 And when the dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the woman which brought forth the man child.
Rev 12:14 And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.
Rev 12:15 And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood.
Rev 12:16 And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth.
Rev 12:17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

Rev 18:1 And after these things I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory.
Rev 18:2 And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.
Rev 18:3 For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies.
Rev 18:4 And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.
Rev 18:5 For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.

War will break out in heaven, and the devils will be cast to earth where they deceive all people that love not the truth, but have pleasure in unrighteousness, which is the strong delusion that God will send to all people who do not love Him.

Satan is no longer the prince of the power of the air,but the devils are confined to the earth, and it becomes their holding cell, and the man of sin,and the people that took the mark, gave up their human rights, and ability to repent, and God will put an end to the sinful ways of people on planet earth.

When they take the mark of the beast they will have the nature of a devil, and will go by the actions of the devil,as they war against all people that did not take the mark of the beast, and the man of sin has no will of his own,but will only go by the actions of the devil, and will care about no one,not even the people that followed him.

The Bible says in Daniel chapter 7 that Babylon will never have physical dominion again,so the beast kingdom is Babylon in spirit, who represents the kingdom of man, human religion, the occult, which is what the beast kingdom is about, and the man of sin convinces the world that he harnessed the power of nature and received power.

I don't understand this verse:
For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie 2 Thessalonians 2:11
Because isnt a powerful delusion the same as a lie?
And God can't lie. Can someone explain this verse to me?
If believers believe the lie that they can receive the Holy Spirit apart from salvation or as some believe they are receiving Him "again" after a sign of tongues which never comes with interpretation, then God will permit the strong delusion to occur because they believed the lie as they open themselves up to receiving the "spirit" apart from their salvation.

2 Thessalonians 2:[SUP]3 [/SUP]Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; KJV

The falling away or this apostasy are those movements of what they believe is the "Holy Spirit" in coming over saved believers "again" after a sensational sign in the flesh like with a sign of tongues which never comes with interpretation or being slain in the Spirit or being drunk in the Spirit or whatever....

Paul testified that this kind of iniquity was already at work in the church...

2 Thessalonians 2:
[SUP]7 [/SUP]For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.

This applies to those that seek to receive the Holy Spirit again, which is why God will permit them to experience this strong delusion because they believe that lie that they can receive the Holy Spirit NOT only apart from their salvation, but again and again and again after a sign in the flesh.

This is the damnation that shall come on believers that do not repent of this iniquity of being left behind as castaways to be received as vessels unto dishonor in His House unless they repent before the Bridegroom comes.

2 Thessalonians 2:[SUP]9 [/SUP]Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,[SUP]10 [/SUP]And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.[SUP]11 [/SUP]And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:[SUP]12 [/SUP]That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

Paul reminds the believers in order to avoid this iniquity by this truth as to WHEN they had received the sanctification of the Spirit & the belief of the truth by what? By the hearing of the gospel in Whom they believed in Jesus Christ.

2 Thessalonians 2:[SUP]13 [/SUP]But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:[SUP]14 [/SUP]Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.[SUP]15 [/SUP]Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle.

So those damned are those that have fallen away from the faith as prophesied for they had faith, and then fell away.

1 Timothy 4:1Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;[SUP]2 [/SUP]Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;

We know they are brothers because Paul keeps on talking about those that will fall away in the next chapter as being disorderly as they all are in these movements of the "Spirit".

2 Thessalonians 3:1Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you:[SUP]2 [/SUP]And that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all men have not faith.[SUP]3 [/SUP]But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil.[SUP]4 [/SUP]And we have confidence in the Lord touching you, that ye both do and will do the things which we command you.[SUP]5 [/SUP]And the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patient waiting for Christ.[SUP]6 [/SUP]Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us.[SUP]7 [/SUP]For yourselves know how ye ought to follow us: for we behaved not ourselves disorderly among you;..........[SUP]14 [/SUP]And if any man obey not our word by this epistle, note that man, and have no company with him, that he may be ashamed.[SUP]15 [/SUP]Yet count him not as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother.

So those that will fall away from the faith are still our brothers and sisters, and so unless they repent, they are at risk of being left behind as castaways to be damned as vessels unto dishonor in His House.

So that is the mass apostasy as many fall away from the faith by seeking after the Holy Spirit to be received after a sign of tongues which never comes with interpretation as standing apart from their salvation... and not only that, but to receive the Holy Spirit again and again and again after other sensational signs in the flesh.

That is why God is coming to judge His House first before He comes back with the pre raptured saints to judge the world at the end of the great tribulation.

So you are reading two events in 2 Thessalonians 2nd chapter and that is why you need His wisdom to discern which verses applies to which event because Paul is going back and forth on those 2 events in that chapter as He addresses those that have fallen away as still brothers in the next chapter.

We looked at this today....remember that those who are deluded have refused to receive the love of the truth that they might be saved.....the context is the man of sin being revealed after the apo-hystamie from the truth.....and this makes me think of Pharaoh who hardened his own heart the first couple of times when dealing with Moses....after which God began to harden his heart even further.....the word comes from a root word and carries the idea of being deceived...or the ability to be deceived....

God will allow them and even help them believe the deception of the man of sin....in the same manner of how he hardened Pharaoh to the truth...REMEMBER GOD knows everything past, present and future...HE knows that they will not receive the love of the truth so that they can be saved so he, by this action, leads them further down the path to judgment.....

I can explain the verse, but hardly anyone will like it. We are elected to salvation by God. He chooses whom to have mercy upon. He chooses whom He will open the Spiritual eyes (to see His truths) or whom he will open the Spiritual ears of (to be able to hear the truths of his Word.) This is hard for man to accept. He cannot on his own. Our pride and self-sufficient natures tend to lead us to a strong delusion that we have the ability to save ourselves through some version of a "do it yourself" gospel that includes somethin we must do to trigger it. We must believe, accept, receive, all verbs. These should be nouns of works done and evidenced after God saves us. Remember the dry bones in Ezekiel. Remember the true reason of the Sabbath. Remember the death of Uzzah in 2 Sam. 6. Paul did not hear the gospel and choose (a work) to follow Jesus. Jesus blinded him (to the wrong teachings of the church) and opened his eyes to His truths of the Gospel. Study this prayerfully in the Spirit. I humbly submit this and hope it helps.

Pharao in Egypt - Moses talked to him, his magicians talked to him, God influenced him to reject Moses.

Ie it is the same thing, IMHO. God influenced pharao to believe in lies and then He punished him for that.

2Th 2:3 Do not let anyone deceive you in any way, for it will not come unless the rebellion takes place first and the man of sin, who is destined for destruction, is revealed.

2Th 2:4 He opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god and object of worship. As a result, he seats himself in the sanctuary of God and himself declares that he is God.

Those who will believe this lie...will be deluded.

Pharaoh actually hardened his own heart multiple times before God further hardened it.

Three times in the narrative we read that Pharaoh hardened his own heart (Ex. 8:15, 32; 9:34). Four other times the Bible simply says his heart "grew" or "became" hard (Ex. 7:14, 22; 8:19; 9:7). The record also indicates the magicians had a hand in the hardening of Pharaoh's heart (Ex. 7:22; 8:19).

When we put all the pieces together, what do we find? Pharaoh was an insolent, arrogant and cruel man. It went against the grain for one to make demands in the name of Jehovah. Every time Moses spoke Pharaoh's heart grew harder.

The magicians also played a part in the hardening of Pharaoh's heart. By the use of enchantments, they tried to minimize the miracles of Moses. Jamieson commented, "the art of those ancient magicians, who were not common jugglers, but educated men, was enlisted in support of the idolatry of Egypt it is not difficult to imagine what immense power those professors of occult science must have wielded over the minds of men in an age of darkness, when the superstition of Egypt was in all its glory."

God hardens the hearts of men today the same way He did 3,500 years ago. Some will never listen to a simple gospel preacher. The "pride of life" (1 John 2:16) will cause them to close their ears. Pride kept many of the rulers from confessing Christ, "lest they be put out of the synagogue; for they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God" (John 12:42, 43).

When a man repeatedly hears the gospel message, yet refuses to obey it, his conscience becomes "seared" (1 Tim. 4:2). To some men, gospel preachers are the "aroma of life," but to those who have had their conscience seared, they are the "aroma of death" (2 Corinthians 2:16).

False teachers also help to harden the hearts of some. Pentecostal preachers, by their use of "signs and lying wonders" (2 Thes. 2:9), have deceived people into putting their trust in things other than God's word. Denominational creed books and traditions have also blinded men to the truth (Matthew 15:8, 9). Hardening Of Pharaoh's Heart | Plagues On Egypt

Off the top of my head, we all need to be tested. We need to be tempted so that we can overcome temptation. After all, there is temptation in the world. It's like an inoculation.

It's not that God is lieing, God however has his way of sacrificing people for the greater good of others. Examples are Judis. The nation of Israel. Romans 9:19-21

This is about the time when congregations reject those whom God sends to them, but, amazingly, they will think that they are in Christ, doing God a favor. The delusion is that they are apparently not in Christ though they believe that they are. Those in Christ love the truth as it is. Those in delusion do not love the truth but claim to love God.

"They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service."

"For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many."

" so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God."

I don't understand this verse:

Because isnt a powerful delusion the same as a lie?
And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: 2 Thess 2:11

Delusion: a false belief held despite strong evidence against it; self-deception
Lie: a false statement made with deliberate intent to deceive; an intentional untruth; a falsehood.

And God can't lie.
See, you claim God can not lie.

If you believe there is no God then God can neither lie nor tell the truth.

Yet if you have faith in your God then should not you live by every word that proceedeth from his mouth since faith comes by hearing and hearing by hearing his voice since man can not develop the ability to communicate using the spoken word unless he both hears and has interaction with the spoken word.

So did you teach yourself how to read and write the spoken word? At least you had a book to use so you could learn how to read, the first guy had to write his own book so he could learn how to read and write the words written therein.

If it is written that all things are possible with God then would it not be possible for God to lie? And if it was impossible for God to lie then would not it be a lie that all things are possible with God?

Can someone explain this verse to me?
I can not for it is sealed.
