I think this subject needs to be addressed. let me get straight to the point. when a person says offensive things to you maybe even insulting your integrity ... it is natural to get mad back and want defend yourself and say "that is not true" I am not an evil person...I am a kind person...yes and sometime we will have to defend our integrity

but what about that peaceful person who is learning about God and has his doctrine slightly wrong....maybe he's slight conceded...or slightly pridefu...or slightly high minded...do we teach love and respect with forcefulness?
do we lash out with harsh judgements or even slightly harsh judgements
no...we are Christians (Christ-like) okay and if we have to follow Jesus' example we should not attack we should be peaceful...
we should have compassion....

Galations 5:22-23
but the fruit of the Spirit is love joy peace lonsuffering gentleness goodness meekness temperance against such there is no law.

Mathew 7:1 judge not and you will not be judged...
romans 3:23 for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God

Even though I'm not the type of person to get into a debate, I think there's nothing wrong with debating over certain subjects. However, I do agree that we should not resort to name calling or insults. That is definitely not something Christians should do.

This is a forum, not an actual assembly, although I like to think th eattitude of all who believe here is of an assembly.

Unhappily, antichrist spirits do drift through, and they should be thwarted......usually they are, and that right soon.

Many who believe are here because they are stymied by certain teachings and wish to understand in depth.

Some are new believers with odd ideas due to the zeal they have, to be expected.

Some are just so wise they need correction.........you know, we have all been there.

The ones I love the most are the ones who love Jesus Christ as their Savior and let it be known. God bless all in Jesus Christ and all who will be coming to Him..........amen

There will always be arguments, nothing wrong with this, we cannot always lay back and comply with what is sometimes purported by misguided, or worse, evil souls.

1 Corinthians 3:1And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ.[SUP] 2[/SUP]I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able.[SUP]3 [/SUP]For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?

Many are spiritual babes no matter how long they have been believers.

Hebrews 5:
[SUP]11 [/SUP]Of whom we have many things to say, and hard to be uttered, seeing ye are dull of hearing.[SUP]12 [/SUP]For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.[SUP]13 [/SUP]For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe.[SUP]14 [/SUP]But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

It is true that we should not argue even against those that we know have gone astray since it is on God to cause the increase so we can only pray that God is peradventuring to recover some.

1 Corinthians 3:
[SUP]5 [/SUP]Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers by whom ye believed, even as the Lord gave to every man?[SUP]6 [/SUP]I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.[SUP]7 [/SUP]So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.

Ephesians 5:
[SUP]10 [/SUP]Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.[SUP]11 [/SUP]And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.

Ephesians 4:
[SUP]11 [/SUP]And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;[SUP]12 [/SUP]For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:[SUP]13 [/SUP]Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:[SUP]14 [/SUP]That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;[SUP]15 [/SUP]But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:

2 Timothy 2:
[SUP]24 [/SUP]And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,[SUP]25 [/SUP]In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;[SUP]26 [/SUP]And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.

Those in Christ do not yield to lies. If this appears to be "fighting" to yo, then you do not understand just what love, God, is.

yes

it's all lovely until someone who is just as convinced as someone else is, contradicts

in some cases, the gloves come off and anything goes and the thread is ruined

of course Christians should not call each other names! that would be foundational, however some people like to build on the edge of a cliff

some people carefully craft their thread like a spider's web and wait to see who they will 'catch'

whether or not they know, God knows the thoughts and intents of the heart including theirs

I've see a number of threads attacked here and ripped apart

classical behavior of the fearful person who is scared ****less their precious beliefs might not stand the test of their own construction

and then there are those who want to redo God and call people religious if there errors are pointed out

what's the standard anyway?

Arguing, debating, discussing. We have different opinions. We try to make others understand things from our point of view. That is sort of the purpose of the forum, isn't it? People should refrain from insulting each other, true.

PS. 85:8.
I will hear what God the LORD will speak: for He will speak peace unto His people, and to His saints:
but let them not turn again to folly.

119:172.
My tongue shall speak of Thy Word: for all Thy Commandments are Righteousness.

1COR. 1:10.
Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing,
and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind
and in the same judgment.

PHIL. 2:2.
Fulfil you my joy, that you be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.

1PETER 4:1-2.
Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind:
for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;

That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.

PS. 19:14.
Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD,
my Strength, and my Redeemer.

Many who believe are here because they are stymied by certain teachings and wish to understand in depth.
Actually I've found the reverse to be true. Most here are only interested in teaching and correcting others to their point of view, and have absolutely NO interest in learning anything.

"Do all things without murmurings and disputings: That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world." (Philippians 2:14-15)

I come to a forum with two reasons, first to share what I have found in scripture, and second(hopefully) to find something new that I did not know before.

I come to a forum with two reasons, first to share what I have found in scripture, and second(hopefully) to find something new that I did not know before.
And to prove everything by Him, even those "talents" that I believe the Lord has taught me to share. The only way to grow by trusting the Lord to be our Good Shepherd to help us abide in truth in His words as kept in the KJV in being His disciples.

1 Thessalonians 5:[SUP]21 [/SUP]Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.[SUP]22 [/SUP]Abstain from all appearance of evil.[SUP]23 [/SUP]And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.[SUP]24 [/SUP]Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.

I trust Him to help me not argue the truth when it is on Him to help others see the truth in His words in keeping the faith which is the good fight.

You are correct it should never come to the point where the body of christ is insulting eachother. Many times it's pride & people can't handle being corrected even if it's out of love unfortunately. As well in many arguments i've seen i dont see people say " Though I disagree with you I will pray for you". For the most part people are displaying contempt for eachother. I can imagine what the lord feels about watching his children treat eachother like that.

I think the worst thing you can to say to someone who disagrees with you is: I will pray for you....or God bless you. 9 times out of 10 people are using that to put themselves above. It's an incredibly arrogant way to argue with someone.

i don't argue with people because 99% of the time its a misunderstanding or the person is in conflict with God.. especially when they keep trying to argue and debate over truth.. some people will fight tooth and nail to defend themselves from God's word, and if you happen to be arguing with them, you just become collateral damage... and it makes the enemy happy because hes getting a 2 for 1.

If god says to pray for our enemies and those who trespass against us we are to do the same towards our brothers and sisters. people can agree to disagree and still pray for eachother. it's not hard for people to say " don't take it personal i don't carry the same views as you but i still love you.

==============================

He corrects whom He loves, and always, He expects more from us if we truly Love Him -
especially when our hearts truly desire to serve and obey His every Command...
