Why can't it be just about experiencing the love of God? Why not just about knowing the Holy Spirit, living by the wisdom in the Bible?

Instead, new believers have to feel guilty about their Sin. Let's be honest, most people are not sinners but losers. They struggle in their jobs, their finances, their health etc.

They struggle to pay the bills, to find someone who actually cares about them.

They feel normal human emotions like anger, frustrations, hate, even lust.

Why is that evil?

Now such a person would love to experience the love of Jesus & the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

But to reach there, they first have to confess their sins, feel bad about themselves.

It is almost as if sin is the key concept in the Bible.

My parents know me with all my shortcomings. They still love me, and never ask me to confess my so called "sins" everyday for them to love me. Why is it different with God the Father then?

If Christianity was more about spreading the love and forgiveness of Jesus, and less about the condemnation of Sin - we would have lot more believers. Who doesn't want God as a personal friend?

And just for the sake of argument, here is what other religions say on the topic of sin:

Hinduism: The concept of Sin doesn't even exists. They have more of a guidelines about living an ethical life.
Islam: The concept of Sin exists, and good deeds must be performed regularly to outweight the quota of sin in a person's life.
Buddhism: The concept of Sin doesn't exists. "Paapa" or "Punya" are towards another person, whereas Biblical Sin is against God.

All fall short of the glory of God. If people proclaim they do not sin the truth in not in them. God doesn't want people to bash themselves over past sins but acknowledge what you did wrong ask for forgiveness & move forward and live .God loves everyone & is merciful to everyone he want his children to be the same towards others. God never said to confess for him to love you however you must confess if you transgress his laws. Christianty is about love forgiveness & Jesus. The problem is people want to live however they desire even if it's opposed to Gods word. People cannot go in to Gods kingdom however they desire.

Sin is just disobedience to God... Anything outside of the righteousness of God is sin. We are encouraged to flee from sin because its difficult to experience the love of God if we willingly remain a slave to sin. We can't share in His love if we are pleased and content to dwell in unrighteousness. "He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me" (John 14:21). So part of experiencing the love of God is separating ourselves from sin. Just as an alcoholic can't turn from his habit until he confesses and recognizes that he has an addiction, a sinner must repent from their ways before they can go the right direction. To ask; 'Why can't we just experience the love of God without acknowledging sin?', is like asking; 'Why can't I have a loving marriage while beating my wife?' :). The love of God just doesn't mesh with sin.. jmo

Christianity doesn't focus on sin, it focuses on God. We focus on sin because we are not focused on God. It would be like saying Christianity means traveling north. If you are Christian and traveling south, then you confess which means you examine your path and acknowledge you were in the wrong direction so you can correct your path to go in proper direction.

The Bibles says without God we are nothing. When we sin as a Christian the Bible says when we ask forgiveness our sin is cast into the sea of forgetfulness, never to be remembered again. Why does Christianity talk of sin?Because we do sin and there is no answer to sin expect God who sent His son to die for our sins,He took our punishment on Himself. So other religions is about humans trying to make themselves good,Christianity says we cant be good on our own and we need the blood of Jesus to save us.

Thanks for your response. Just to make it clear, I wasn't supporting Sin. I do believe in working with the Holy Spirit to get rid of the sins, as God and Sin cannot co-exist.

However, my problem is specifically about people having to confess themselves as sinners every day, even though their so called "sins" would be something as insignificant as getting up late in the morning.

Christianity is so focused on sin because of a religion that was made out of the work of Christ on the cross and resurrection. God doesn't want us to be sin-conscious but instead Christ-conscious.

Religion is in the business of sin management. Jesus' blood speaks of better things.

I think the Bible teaches that a Christian is not to be obsessed with sin. We are to have our hearts focused on love and helping one another.
A Christian must realize he is a sinner by nature in order to appreciate the grace we have been given by God in Jesus.

We all experience anger, hate & lust. We are human with human emotions. In those times a Christian will as for guidance from the Holy Spirit as to handle such a situation.

Indeed. Satan has done a masterful job of keeping Christians obsessed with what God settled 2000 years ago. For so many it's as if the Cross never really happened, and nothing at all really changed there. :(

that is not what God says

we are 'washed' clean of our sins when we believe in Jesus. we are not guilty any longer.

guilt and condemnation do not come from God

Christianity actually focuses on the forgiveness of sin and new life in Christ

if you are a Christian, you are not a looser

you might question what it is you actually believe, rather than assume what you have been told or taught

I think knowing and saying that God doesn't use guilt, condemnation and shame as tools to change us is worthy of a rep!

This is one of the religion of Christianity's greatest weapons that they love to use on believers - guilt, condemnation and shame. All of which are anti-Christ.

From my point of view, Christianity isn't as focused on sin as it should be. It is sin that makes us miserable.

there is no such thing as a small sin, All sin, no matter how small, has a death penalty attached to it.

But that is why we need to focus on God and grace and the cross. and people. Because if we spend so much time focused on sin, we will just become defeated. Lie that we have any sin, to hide it, or walk away because we can not live up to the standard.

fair enough, but look at who is calling themselves Christian. It used to mean something

I prefer the original Christ-ones

as in of Christ and belonging to Christ

The young church in Antioch was a mixture of Jews (who spoke Aramaic or Greek) and Gentiles. It was the first place that believers were called Christians or "Christ-ones," because all they had in common was Christ-not race, culture or even language. Christ's love crosses all boundaries and unites all people.
