I am looking for the reference where Jesus chastises a group of people because they were looking for a sign from him. (This was not from the Pharisees but actually from those who liked Jesus because he fed thousands in a previous miracle). Christ denied them the miracle because they did not truly believe from where did He get his power. This made the people angry and turn against Him.

This is one of the few that don't have Jesus going at the Pharisees:

Luke 11:14 And he was casting out a devil, and it was dumb. And it came to pass, when the devil was gone out, the dumb spake; and the people wondered.

Luke 11:15 But some of them said, He casteth out devils through Beelzebub the chief of the devils.

Luke 11:16 And others, tempting him, sought of him a sign from heaven.

You really do not need any bible scholar for such questions.

Even using google will give you the right answers.

Actually, I tried. I remember studying the New Testament about 6 years ago. One of the things that I found interesting was the part where Jesus actually stated this. I skimmed over parts where I thought it would be. I thought it was after Jesus told a Pharisee that he needed to be borne of water and Spirit to enter into the Kingdom of God, or near where He spoke to a samaritan woman near Jacob's Well.

[38] Then some of the scribes and Pharisees said to him, "Teacher, we wish to see a sign from you."
[39] But he answered them, "An evil and adulterous generation seeks for a sign; but no sign shall be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah.
[40] For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the whale, so will the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
[41] The men of Nin'eveh will arise at the judgment with this generation and condemn it; for they repented at the preaching of Jonah, and behold, something greater than Jonah is here.
[42] The queen of the South will arise at the judgment with this generation and condemn it; for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon, and behold, something greater than Solomon is here. Matt 12:38-42 RSV

It was in John 6 that the OP was looking for.

This is what he was looking for:

(John 6:26 KJV) Jesus answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye did eat of the loaves, and were filled.

(John 6:27 KJV) Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed.

(John 6:28 KJV) Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God?

(John 6:29 KJV) Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.

(John 6:30 KJV) They said therefore unto him, What sign showest thou then, that we may see, and believe thee? what dost thou work?

(John 6:31 KJV) Our fathers did eat manna in the desert; as it is written, He gave them bread from heaven to eat.

(John 6:32 KJV) Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven.

(John 6:33 KJV) For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world.

God's consistent about something. If it's really important to know, he says it more than once. John 6 may well be where Kstout was thinking, but Jesus said it more than once.

That is right. I saw a meme on Facebook that used a picture of when Jesus was feeding the multitudes, with the caption that said, "Sorry, I am not going to feed you anymore. I am just not seeing any results."

I told the OP that is exactly what Jesus did. They asked me where did it say that, and that is why I had to get help to find it. They still didn't believe me, so I told them that since the beginning the law states that "by the sweat of thy head, thou shalt eat". It is a law older than most. If you didn't work, you were useless. I told them that even though Jesus' was merciful, he despised hypocrites and those who take advantage of mercy to the point where they could just be lazy. Many people believe that the government should give us free stuff, and while it is tempting, I think we should refrain from free stuff, because it is taking away from those who work. I am not saying help should not be offered, nor am I saying that we shouldn't accept help when we need it. What I am saying is that we should be industrious, support ourselves and our families. Because if we don't do that, we wouldn't be worthy to stand before God.

You'll also see this truth in Luke 16:31 as a parabolic reference.
