Sorry Stunned, but he knew exactly what he was doing and unless someone calls him out on it he will continue. We are to point out clear manipulation of scripture.

You don't have to bow out. We help each other to get further because there is always some verse or verses we have forgotten in our building and He gives them to another to throw in the pot. He is HUGE and no human mind can truly know Him because of that. We see His back as He walks away. We see the fringes of His robe.

Why do you think he's manipulating scripture? There's too much scripture to arrive at that conclusion. Who can tie it all together perfectly, leaving no part out and not temporarily forgetting a piece or thinking too small? As humans, even in a conversation, we focus on the part of what someone says that attracts our attention and don't really hear all the rest but only the part we've seized on as most relevant. Happens all the time. With all of us.

Jesus' garment was all of one piece. It could not be separated or it would be ruined and of no use to anyone. So they had to leave it complete and whole and throw dice for it. Scripture is seamless in this same way and all ties together, line upon line, precept upon precept. But it is too much to take in all at once and it happens so often that I think I understand but then a part of a story is told elsewhere that gives me more clarity. He wasn't trying to manipulate - he just wasn't remembering some verses. No one can remember them all at once and we can help each other to get further.

1 Samuel 12:13 (KJV) Now therefore behold the king whom ye have chosen, and whom ye have desired! and, behold, the Lord hath set a king over you
There is a good example of God not doing something for it to last forever (Saul's kingship), quite contrary to your claim that whatsoever God does, it lasts forever :)

I have wondered about how the Holy Spirit was given to Saul but then
taken from him again because of disobedience, not remaining faithful.
Are we not now sealed with the Holy Spirit, whereas before they were not?

This (in bold) doesn't ring a bell. Could you please support this assertion with Scripture?
Absalom, David's third son, by Maacah

Thanks for pointing that out, all these years and thought Bathsheeba was mom. Had to do some digging instead of going by what i heard.

Absalom, David's third son, by Maacah, was born in Hebron,[SUP][3][/SUP] and moved at an early age along with the transfer of the capital to Jerusalem, where he spent most of his life. He was a great favorite of his father and of the people. His charming manners, personal beauty, and insinuating ways, together with his love of pomp and royal pretensions, captivated the hearts of the people from the beginning. He lived in great style, drove in a magnificent chariot and had fifty men run before him.
Little is known of Absalom's family life, but it is said[SUP][4][/SUP] that he had three sons and one daughter, whose name was also Tamar. From the language of 2 Samuel 18:18, it is inferred that his sons died at an early age.[SUP][5][/SUP][SUP][6][/SUP]
2 Chronicles 11:20, says Absalom has another daughter, named Maacah, who later becomes the favorite wife of Rehoboam.[SUP][7][/SUP]

Yes. He also gave them some laws that were not good for them!

David said, do not take your Spirit from me. So I thought at least some men had the Spirit.
Is having the Spirit of God the same as being sealed with the Spirit of God? God's Spirit moves in all whether they are sealed and saved or not, is my understanding :)

Now really, Dcon, why must you take it to that? I have given reams of Scripture that you reject. Does that mean you are calling God a liar? It must, according to your standard.

Try again....you gave about 10 points....at least three or four had no bearing, a few can be proven wrong by context and regardless....Ecclesiastes 3:14 is CLEAR.....

WHATSOEVER GOD DOES and FOR EVER are as plain as day.......like I said....take it u with GOD.....not one verse in the bible contradicts another verse......Ecclesiastes 3:14 cannot be chunked and or rejected....so.....maybe you should re-evaluate your conclusions.....

The liar statement was uncalled for....I apologize.....

Hmm...so you mean that david had Gods' Spirit but he had to worry about losing that Spirit or God taking that Spirit from him for some reason whereas we do not have to have that same worry that David had? He could have offended God and had the Spirit taken from him but we can offend God and not have His Spirit taken from us? Because we are sealed and he was not?

I lost the train of conversation somehow. :)
I looked up the verse though.
Where has the discussion come to an impasse on whatever God doing it is done forever and no one can reverse it?
I can't find where the discussion began on Eccles...

Hi dcon,

What happens when scriptures seem to disagree? We look closer at the context of any one scripture. Read a little before and a little afterwards. Sometimes in some instances we might need to read a chapter or two before and/or afterwards.

So here's what Magenta is proposing - that there are many scriptures that show that evil people will perish or be destroyed. Then we have scriptures that show that their burning in the lake of fire will be forever.

When things like this happen, it's time to go deeper into scripture. Don't just assume what you know is correct or what someone else has taught you is correct. Because if scriptures seem to contradict, they really don't and we need to find the harmony in the two opposing views.

As a suggestion, ask the 5 W's and an H. Do cross referencing. Look up Greek and Hebrew words. And maybe you've already done this and still believe what you do.

But doesn't it cause you to wonder if one scripture says they will perish or be destroyed and another says that they will burn forever and ever that somehow we don't have the full understanding yet? So what do we do?

Wait awhile so we can look at the topic with a fresh mind and go at it again with the 5 W's and an H, with the cross references, Greek/Hebrew, maybe makes lists of key words and go more in depth.

Anyway, I find it an interesting topic and I'm studying it more fully now. My thoughts are that it will be forever and ever, but as I've studied this word in the past, it can mean for a limited time as well. That's why we need to study deeper and look at the context of a scripture to find out what's really being said.
