    Question Who are the angels?

    • "For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;" (2Peter 2.4).
"Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the LORD: his going forth is prepared as the morning; and he shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter and former rain unto the earth." (Hosea 6.3).

The angels that rebelled with Satan. Satan desired to be as the most high and deceived what is rumored to be one third of the angels to come against God in an attempt to overthrow him.
Romans 10:13 - For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Acts 3:19 - Repent therefore and turn to God, so that your sins may be blotted out, in order that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord.
Ephesians 6:11 - Put on the whole armor of God, so that you can stand firm against the schemes of the devil.

A cross reference to the scripture you posted Jude 1:6 - And I remind you of the angels who did not stay within the limits of authority God gave them but left the place where they belonged. God has kept them securely chained in prisons of darkness, waiting for the great day of judgment.

While satan & his angels did rebel in the beginning, in genesis and the book of enoch does mention angels how had specific positions & spoke about how they disobeyed God having relations with the daughters of men. Those could be the angels you are referring to

They are the angels that in Genesis 6:2....."That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose".
Like the Bereans in Acts 17:11 (KJV) "These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so."

With Jesus Christ as your savior, The Holy Spirit will teach you if you are willing to learn from Him. He will guide you in daily activities if you will listen to Him. He will protect and maintain your soul in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit if you will let Him.

Normally angels are servants and messengers of God, but these particular angels are now called demons. They fell from
heaven along with Satan when they sinned against God. They were cast down to the earth, but someday will be cast into hell (which will be the new earth).

Angels can be understood as messengers (from the Greek) rather than angelic beings, if we look at the context of false prophets/messenger this might give some alternate understanding of what Peter is saying:

2 Pet 2:1 But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.

Your last sentence makes no sense: the new earth will be hell?
Could you please clarify what you mean? Thank you, OneFaith

Hell is cast into the lake of fire following the resurrection and judgement of all. The lake of fire was created specifically for that purpose (for the destruction of the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil, or Satan, and the angels that followed him in rebellion against God). We were made lower than the angels and yet we will judge them.

It would seem to be following the resurrection and judgement of all.

2Do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if you are to judge the world, are you not competent to judge trivial cases? 3Do you not know that we will judge angels? How much more the things of this life! 1 Cor 6:2-3

Back in Genesis we read about Angels that left their ""First estate"" meaning they leaf Heaven and came to earth.. It also reveals that they took for themselves human woman as wives and had children with them.. This was against Gods will and i believe lead to God destroying the world through the flood because of all the hybrid human/Angel beings which are called Giants in scripture..

    Genesis 6: KJV
1 "And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them, {2} That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose. {3} And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years. {4} There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown."

These angels where the ones that sinned and where cast down to hell to be reserved for the final judgement.. These fallen angels will be released for a short time at the Last days near to the day of the LORD to bring suffering upon the people of earth who will reject the LORD and take the mark of the beast..

    Revelation 9: KJV
1 "And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit. {2} And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit. {3} And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth: and unto them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power. {4} And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree; but only those men which have not the seal of God in their foreheads. {5} And to them it was given that they should not kill them, but that they should be tormented five months: and their torment was as the torment of a scorpion, when he striketh a man. {6} And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them. {7} And the shapes of the locusts were like unto horses prepared unto battle; and on their heads were as it were crowns like gold, and their faces were as the faces of men. {8} And they had hair as the hair of women, and their teeth were as the teeth of lions. {9} And they had breastplates, as it were breastplates of iron; and the sound of their wings was as the sound of chariots of many horses running to battle. {10} And they had tails like unto scorpions, and there were stings in their tails: and their power was to hurt men five months. {11} And they had a king over them, which is the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon, but in the Greek tongue hath his name Apollyon."

That is actually Jude 1:6 And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.

Due to the fact that each reproduces after their own kind, and the fact that humans and angels are explicitly said to be of different kinds (as if we would need to be told that) and also the fact that giants continue to exist to this very day, some do not accept that the angels had sex with women who then had the progeny of angels. It is true that the sons of God are sometimes referred to as angels, but so are humans referred to as sons of God, for we are His children by faith. Sons of God can be taken to mean those who believed in God, being of the line of Seth, and daughters of men those who did not, being the descendants of Cain. Such idolatry is always spoken against by God, who warns us of being unequally yoked, because it always leads to (or already is) idolatry.

    This is VERY unscriptural BTW.

A Californian based professional baseball team,in Anaheim, better known by their spiritual full name,Los Angeles Angels, which the Cherubims cover the outfield for their longer wing span, and the Seraphims cover the infield, and the Archangels being the managers.

The angels were the first beings created by God,which they are invisible to the naked eye in their essence, not having any organic substance like a human, and were given a choice, which Lucifer was perfect in his ways, for God created him perfect, until iniquity was found in him,for God gave the angels a choice, and Lucifer led a rebellion against God in which some of the angels followed him.

If Lucifer and the angels did not rebel,God would of not created Adam and Eve,for they could of not sinned unless an outside source tempted them, which Satan tempted Eve,and Eve tempted Adam by showing it was alright to eat the fruit, and if Lucifer and the angels did not rebel, and God did create Adam and Eve,they would of never ate of the fruit of the forbidden tree, and all their offspring would of not ate of that tree, and there would be no spiritual salvation, but whatever benefit they could get from this earth, which God offered more than that for He is spiritual,so mankind would have to end up spiritual with Him at some point,so God created Adam and Eve because Lucifer and the angels rebelled.

Now the angels that stayed with God assist Him with the salvation of the saints, for they are ministering spirits to all who shall inherit salvation, and the angels desire to look in to the salvation of the saints, for they will have a higher position in heaven than that of the angels.

The fallen angels cannot be redeemed, for there is nothing of them that can be put off,but they are one being, one essence,so when they sinned they tainted their whole being with no way to put off the sin,but a human is in the flesh, and all sin resides in the flesh, for in the flesh dwells no good thing,so a human can be saved, for their soul can be saved, for the sin resides in the flesh, and they put off the flesh, and the soul is saved. So while the flesh can condemn us if we do not get in the truth,it is also because of the flesh that we can be saved, for all sin resides in the flesh, and when we are forgiven of our sins, there is another part of us,the soul, and that is what lives on forever, and the sinful flesh will be put off.

But it appears that the angels in 2 Peter being cast to hell, might refer to the angels at the time of Noah, for the people were continually wicked, which appears like that could only happen if the fallen angels influenced them, for Satan is not in hell, but is the prince of the power of the air, along with other fallen angels, but they are all angels whether in hell,or in the power of the air.

NO! Demons have a special place in this world and the next. These were normal Angels that sided with Satan. You see Satan may be ruler of the Earth ('Prince of the World') but He still has access to Heaven until Rev 12:4.

These angels he speaks of are those angels that while they sided with Satan, they left their heavenly realms and came to earth for the Daughters of Men Genesis 6). After being made to see the death of their children, the angels were chained and thrown into the bottomless pit until the White Judgement Throne.

While God knows the name of every STAR (angel) in Heaven, we only see two angels throughout the Bible beside Lucifer. These two are Michael and Gabriel. Michael, the warrior and as you said, Gabriel was a messenger as seen in Daniel 24.

If you want a deeper understanding, try studying 'Chains' and 'Darkness'...

    Revelation 20:1
"And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand"

Notice that the Key to opening the Bottomless Pit is associated with a Chain?

Don't just gloss over that word.

There is great Wisdom being taught here...

    Lamentations 3:7
"He hath hedged me about, that I cannot get out: he hath made my chain heavy"

    We have a chain?

    What is going on here?

    Isaiah 40:19
"The workman melteth a graven image, and the goldsmith spreadeth it over with gold, and casteth silver chains"

Hmmm. A 'Graven Image' with Silver Chains?

    What else?

    Psalms 73:6
"Therefore pride compasseth them about as a chain; violence covereth them as a garment"

Could these chains have anything to do with Mankind's flesh?

    Why are they 'everlasting'?

    Jude 1:6
"And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day"

    Are they alive?

    And what about this 'Darkness'?

The LORD dwells there does he?

    2 Chronicles 6:1
"Then said Solomon, The LORD hath said that he would dwell in the thick darkness"

    What is that?

    Job 38:9
"When I made the cloud the garment thereof, and thick darkness a swaddlingband for it"

    A Swaddling Band?

    Hmmmm...

    Everlasting "Chains"?

    Strange flesh indeed...

    Now about that Bottomless Pit...

Genesis 6 is not talk about angel that have rebelled against God, be they are called the "son of God" they were men that called on the name o the Lord, Genesis 4:25-26 "And Adam knew his wife again, and she bore a son and named him Seth, “For God has appointed another seed for me instead of Abel, whom Cain killed.”And as for Seth, to him also a son was born; and he named him Enosh. Then men began to call upon the name of the Lord." Chapter 5 give the genealogy of the sons of Adam, 5:6 the birth of Enosh to Seth, from Enosh there were men that called on the name of the Lord and they were the sons of God. Because men called on the name of the Lord, the result was 5:24 "And Enoch walked with God; and he was not, for God took him. Chapter 5 ends with Noah and his sons, how does Genesis 6 start "Now it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born to them, that the sons of God saw the daughters of men, that they were beautiful; and they took wives for themselves of all whom they chose." What came to pass? Men began to have daughters, who are the men, Cains offspring. Here's the verse tat is used for a proof text that the sons of God are angels 6:4 "There were giants on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of men and they bore children to them. Those werethe mighty men who were of old, men of renown."

Some say the saints were the results of the angels and women having children. But look at the order of what is said, "in those days" when are those days, "when the sons of God came in to the daughters of men" and what was still happening after the son of God had sex with the daughters of men, "there were still giants in the land, "and also afterwards". Who were the children of the son of God and the daughters of men, the were men of renown, not giants.

The angels that are reserved in chains of darkness, are fallen angels, that rebelled with satan. Some say that these angel in chains of darkness, were angels that more rank (for lack of a better term) then the angels that are demons. I don't know, I haven't seen any Scriptural reference to that, but, it would seem that demons have to be fallen angels. There are people out there that misinterpret the first part of 2 Peter 2:5 "and did not spare the ancient world" by saying that this was another world before Adam and Eve. A clear reading in context, shows that it's talking about the world in the time of Noah, not some world that existed before the creation account.

With Jesus Christ as your savior, The Holy Spirit will teach you if you are willing to learn from Him. He will guide you in daily activities if you will listen to Him. He will protect and maintain your soul in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit if you will let Him.
