[h=1]Matthew 27:3-10 King James Version (KJV)[/h][SUP]3 [/SUP]Then Judas, which had betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders,
[SUP]4 [/SUP]Saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood. And they said, What is that to us? see thou to that.
[SUP]5 [/SUP]And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself.
[SUP]6 [/SUP]And the chief priests took the silver pieces, and said, It is not lawful for to put them into the treasury, because it is the price of blood.
[SUP]7 [/SUP]And they took counsel, and bought with them the potter's field, to bury strangers in.
[SUP]8 [/SUP]Wherefore that field was called, The field of blood, unto this day.
[SUP]9 [/SUP]Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremy the prophet, saying, And they took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of him that was valued, whom they of the children of Israel did value;
[SUP]10 [/SUP]And gave them for the potter's field, as the Lord appointed me.
[h=1]Matthew 27:3-10 Modern English Version (MEV)[/h][h=3]The Death of Judas[/h]
[SUP]3 [/SUP]When Judas, who had betrayed Him, saw that He was condemned, he repented and brought back the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, [SUP]4 [/SUP]saying, “I have sinned in that I have betrayed innocent blood.”
They said, “What is that to us? You must see to that.”
[SUP]5 [/SUP]So he threw down the pieces of silver in the temple and departed. And he went and hanged himself.
[SUP]6 [/SUP]The chief priests took the silver pieces and said, “It is not lawful to put them into the treasury, because this is the price of blood.” [SUP]7 [/SUP]So they took counsel, and bought with them the potter’s field to bury strangers in. [SUP]8 [/SUP]Therefore that field has been called the Field of Blood to this day. [SUP]9 [/SUP]Then what was spoken by Jeremiah the prophet was fulfilled: “They took the thirty pieces of silver, the value of that the sons of Israel set on Him, [SUP]10 [/SUP]and gave them for the potter’s field, as the Lord appointed me.”

These are my thoughts, please share yours.

3 Judas felt bad for what he did but went to religious leaders for help instead of seeking the Lord for forgiveness. Where do we go when we mess up do we seek God or try to make up for things by legalism?

4 Judas did truly regret what He did but went to the wrong place, where we go is even more important then feeling regret, everyone feels regret but not everyone runs for the Lord. Murder is sin but Jesus alone is innocent.

5 So Judas hangs himself, religion took him no where but death, and that is where it still leads people today, the only hope is thru Jesus.

6 This was probably a tradition of theirs even it being law they paid so they could have Jesus lose His life, so they were already involved with blood money. It didn’t bother them they killed an innocent man but does that they can’t accept the money back that they paid for Him to be betrayed.

7 They thought because they did something good with the blood money that it meant it was ok, this is how sin works we think because we do a list of works that we are ok even though we do sin but we are only good thru Jesus and turning from sin to Him.

8 The field of blood they fooled no one about what they did. This field was to bury outsiders in which shows the respect of the dead but they bought the field because they weren’t respecters of life and they themselves were dead.

9 They didn’t value Jesus, the question is do we?

10 The Lord already wrote this in scripture they had their heads full of so much pride they didn’t see the wrong that scripture showed their sins. To have an attitude like this is very dangerous if we think scripture always talks about others then ourselves.

I like this version better, for it wasn't Jeremy aka Jeremiah who spoke those words, the prophets name who spoke it was Zachariah. IMO it's better no to have a name if those who wrote those versions can't get the story right. From the book of Jeremiah not he spoke it.

Syriac peshito
03 Then Judas the betrayer, when he saw that Jesus was condemned, repented. And he went and returned the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders;
04 and said: I have sinned, by betraying innocent blood. And they said: What is that to us? See to it thyself.
05 And he cast down the silver in the temple, and retiring, went and strangled himself
06 And the chief priests took up the silver, and said: It is not lawful to put it into the treasury, because it is the price of blood.
07 And they took counsel, and bought with it the potter's field, for a place to bury strangers.
08 Wherefore that field is called the field of blood, unto this day.
09 Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by the prophet, saying: I took the thirty [shekels] of silver, the price of the precious one, which they of the children of Israel had stipulated;
10 and I gave them for the potter's field, as the Lord directed me.

I don't see anywhere in the four gospels that the pharisees claimed judas hung himself, and I don't see in acts 1:18 any mentioning of Pharisees helping him. Not sure what you mean about this.

The uni-verse.

Judas was never saved. John 17:12
"While I was with them in the world,I kept them in Your name. Those whom You gave Me I have kept;and none of them is lost except the son of perdition, that the Scripture might be fulfilled."

As quoted Acts 1:15-20 "
And in those days Peter stood up in the midst of the disciples[c] (altogether the number of names was about a hundred and twenty), and said,“Men and brethren, this Scripture had to be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit spoke before by the mouth of David concerning Judas, who became a guide to those who arrested Jesus; for he was numbered with us and obtained a part in this ministry.”(Now this man purchased a field with the wages of iniquity; and falling headlong, he burst open in the middle and all his entrails gushed out. And it became known to all those dwelling in Jerusalem; so that field is called in their own language, Akel Dama, that is, Field of Blood.)
“For it is written in the Book of Psalms:
‘Let his dwelling place be desolate,
And let no one live in it’;

and,
‘Let another take his office.’

That is interesting, now in Matthew 28:09 who was Jesus referring to as not lost even one.

09 that the speech might be fulfilled, which he uttered: Of them, whom thou hast given me, I have lost not even one.

Judas throw the silver into the temple and left the scene, the Pharisees decided to purchase the field, judas had no input on what to do with the money the Pharisees kept. Can't see how judas had purchase the field.
