Lol, well thanks for the compliment I think. Though if you knew how Chokmah was pronounced perhaps you wouldn't call me Chok lol, not that I am meaning to be cocky lol.
I googled it to hear the pronunciation and I still don't understand...:D

So I found this link from my brother in law who responded to these people online. They are saying that you dont need a Bible to be a Christian. If I press them they say the Bible is useful but not necessary to the life of a Christian. Heres a link to what the believe...

How Can You Call Yourselves Christian When You Don't Believe in the Bible?

What would you say in answer to this?
I would say to anyone who thinks they don't need to read a Bible to be saved, these 2 things:

1. "Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." So much for being saved.

Even if they got saved, they wouldn't make it, "for my people are destroyed for a lack of knowledge". God's word is still true, whether you read it or not.

2. Such a person would say such a thing for only one reason: They're doing what's right in their own eyes.
Such a rebellious person who refuses God's word will burn in Hell if they don't repent. That's the wide gate & the broad way.

Heb 4:12 -For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

2 Tim. 3:16-
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,17 so that the servant of God[a] may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Ps. 119-
Your word is a lamp for my feet,a light on my path.

James 1-
Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.

Do these verses not point to the importance of Gods words?

Matt-4
Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”

Well after reading the article I would say grow up. You are behaving like daughter when she was 8 . The article reminds me of how when my family had gone out to eat at a local cafeteria style restaurant. We all returned to the table with our plates and my daughter had only French fries and chicken nuggets. No veggies. Her response was simple and to the point," I don't like vegetables " . So of course she only got what she wanted an not what she needed. She was only 8 years old. ( yes we did get her some vegetables to eat ) That's the picture I have in my mind ,when the writer is presenting his opinion . He needs to eat his spiritual broccoli in my opinion. The Bible is not list of a la carte items that we can pick an choose from. The Bible is a complete meal to say . It has what is necessary to us to grow and mature in Christ. Even if it has some hard to swallow parts.
Just my two cents.
Blessings
Bill
P.S.
The article is not about not having a Bible it's about looking a gift horse in the mouth ,and rejecting it .

I'm not sure anyone has argued they aren't important. I am going to guess and say that every man who has contributed to this thread reads their bible daily, or at least quite a few times in a week. I could be wrong though, I guess. :)

Lol here maybe this will help you.

Strong's Hebrew: 2451. חָכְמָה (chokmah) -- wisdom

chokmah: wisdom
Original Word: חָכְמָה
Part of Speech: Noun Feminine
Transliteration: chokmah
Phonetic Spelling: (khok-maw')
Short Definition: wisdom
Oh, haha, so I was calling you wise? I DO see a lot of wisdom in your posts for one so young. And you appear to be walking well in the Spirit, not taking offense when someone disagrees with you. :)

Lol no, you were calling me Chok, which is pronounced khok. Lol get it, I'm not trying to be cocky lol.

Thanks for the compliment, though I didn't really see anyone disagreeing with me, thought they just had their own questions. Personally, I would not consider any of this wisdom, or at least not my personal wisdom, except for maybe the Joe's Crab Shack example, though even that is technically my dad's wisdom.

Ironically all this is in the Bible about how you do not have to read the Bible to believe the God of the Bible, how some of the most famous believers were ignorant and unlettered, and how the teachers of the Bible in the Bible did not believe in God and wanted to kill everyone that God sent to them, even his Son Jesus whom the Bible they read testifies to.

As for offense, didn't know they were trying to be offensive to me, lol, I'll have to go back and re-read this thread then and see if I can spot that lol.

I would ask them a very simple question. "Is God a liar?"
How do you define liar? Is a liar someone who says something which is not true or is a liar someone who does not tell the truth? Or maybe you might have some other definition for what constitutes lying.

But do you believe that it is even possible for God to lie? If you don't believe it is possible for God to lie then do you honestly think you could be objective since it is written that all things are possible with God?

Then I would proceed to tell them that the Bible is God's truth, and for what reason would they ignore it when it is from their Creator.

So you if say Bible is God's truth then can you prove it? If you can not prove it then do you believe God said "
Prove all things; hold fast that which is good." 1 Thess 5:21 So if you know that the Bible is God's truth then shouldn't you prove it, since it is written in John 3:11 that Jesus said, "Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen;"

And if the prophet be deceived when he hath spoken a thing, I the LORD have deceived that prophet, and I will stretch out my hand upon him, and will destroy him from the midst of my people Israel. Ezek 14:9

And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: 2 Thess 2:11

Concerning your first paragraph, it's important. I do not call someone a liar unless they are purposely deceiving, with the motive of gain (monetary or otherwise). It is important to me to not call someone a liar unless they have malicious motive. Someone can be not telling the truth but not lying, to me. I like your first paragraph. Made me stop and think. :)

Well I don't see a point in being offended by people disagreeing with what the Bible says. I didn't write it.

That kinda sounds like what I believe,im not one of them but what God teaches with the Bible is basically just common sense and decency which are necessary for a functioning society.

I think that most organized Christian religions teach what leads to chaos which I think is satans ultimate goal for the world.

You don't believe me? Go ask advice on getting to Heaven from the people that get payed to tell you the right thing and see what kind of mystic mumbo jumbo they spit to you.

It's like they are possessed because they can't simply say"don't do that stuff that God tells you not to do or you are going to hell".

Why do I even bother logging on to this site anymore? The utter stupidity presented by some is not only incorrect and spiritually dangerous, but it spits in God's face ever increasingly with each post.
