What would are some views/opinion on a advance English bible version, just curious similar to this below.

Matthew 1

17 All the generations, therefore, are, from Abraham to David fourteen generations, further from David to the captivity of Babylon fourteen generations, furthermore from the captivity of Babylon to the Messiah fourteen generations.

18 Resultantly the birth of Jesus the Messiah was thus. While his mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, before they had cohabited, she was found to be with child by the Holy Spirit.

19 Appropriately Joseph her husband was a righteous man, consequently unwilling to expose her: subsequently he thought of putting her away privately.

20 Proportionately while he contemplated these things, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, correspondingly said to him: Joseph, son of David, fear not to take Mary thy wife; for that which is conceived in her, is from the Holy Spirit:

21 By virtue of she will bear a son; In virtue of thou shalt call his name Jesus, for he will resuscitate his people from their sins.

22 Now all this that occurred, was to fulfill what was spoken of the Lord by the prophet:

23 Behold, a virgin will conceive, by virtue of will bear a son, in virtue of thou shalt call his name Emmanuel, which is interpreted, Our God with us.

24 Afterward when Joseph rose from his sleep, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded him, respectively took his wife.

25 Conjointly he knew her not, until she had borne her firstborn son, so suitably called his name Jesus.

I've studied this passage in Greek. It is really not a good translation.

First, it used "thou" in verse 21. That is dead part of speech in modern English. We simply do not have second person singular, and have not for a long time. In fact, if the KJV had not been around, it would have died out centuries ago.

Second, Jesus did not come to "resuscitate" people from their sins. The word is σώσει or "he saves". There really is no ifs, ands, or buts about that word. You might get away with "deliver, rescue," or even "preserve" but no where in Bauer does it say "resuscitate" which has a totally different meaning completely.

Further, this reading is incredibly wordy and really doesn't use the best English grammar. If I was the editor of this translation, I would be slashing and altering the words, phrases and sentence structure like mad!

An advanced English version needs to be faithful to the original languages, and also communicate with smooth and readable English. Sorry, this is not it!

PS. I've been reading the New English Version on-line. (NET). Daniel Wallace is involved in the translation, and commentaries. I want the full print version of it for the commentaries, but the publisher has run out of copies, and on Amazon, the prices are beyond exorbitant. Next printing, I guess.

So are you saying the NET is a pretty good version according to your studies in Hebrew and Greek?

Well proportionately is referring to (these things) meaning more than one thing he was contemplated.

I havent read the NET bible, this is from a translated Syriac Peshito version with added updated words for the transition words. Like,, then, and, but, which is considered out of date. most all older bibles are full of these transition words.

NA I wouldn't do that at all, I'm taking the Syriac Peshito and updating the transition wording to a more advance transition word dialog. It's a work in progress in my spare time.

I grew up with KJV and old English. I can not imagine a young person reading this, and having any idea of what was said.. It would be confusing to them..

I know that's my take as well, though kind of sad sort of, learning advance words keeps the mind tuned up, as well as knowledge that can come from it. I like the KJV artistic style, poetry per say. Quite fitting in my opinion.

we are part of IFI (international friendship inc) which is an organization trying to set up international students coming to college in the US with Christian people.. One thing I am realizing is language barrier is huge. I have to stop trying to use what we are now calling "churchy" words. that only people who grew up in church can understand, I also am learning through my disciple meetings with my nephew that even the younger generation struggle. We lose them when we use certain words we take for granted everyone knows.

It is an ongoing process as I have to try to change the way I think. to keep them in mind..

On the word (resuscitate people from their sins) IMO quite fitting when people are deep in sin they are like dead, no life in sin, so the author uses a word that completely gives a example of that to bring to life is quite fitting in my view, this isn't my addition, the bible I'm using is James Murdock 1852 Syriac Peshito. Which is my go too for now, I've looked into quite afew and haven't been happy with them, James uses artistic style, modern and simple English styles, with the Aramaic translations.

I'm just updated the trans words along with a orderly account of the four gospels.

I agree, Being a medic in the navy for 4 years, before I changed and joined the coast guard and finished out my time. To resuscitate means to bring one who is dead back to life.. So it is a but deeper than to just say saved..

Not to harp on this word but it's a good one for (to save) I think..

re·sus·ci·tate
rəˈsəsəˌtāt/
verb
revive (someone) from unconsciousness or apparent death;

synonyms: bring around, revive, bring back to consciousness;

synonyms: revive, resurrect, restore, regenerate, revitalize, breathe new life into, reinvigorate, rejuvenate, stimulate.

Yes for sure, for some reason that's what I like about advance words, it can bring a whole new level of understanding to the context even with the bible in my view..

we did CPR on a person who is clinically dead, They have stopped breathing, or their heart has stopped beating. They are literally dead unless someone "resuscitates" them.

This is us before we are saved, We are dead, have no life, unless God resuscitates us.
