Since before God there was nothing and God is good, powerful and perfect, how then did evil arise?

The love of money...

1 Timothy 6:10
"For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows"

Link that verse to Adam and Eve and meditate on why Jesus had to PURCHASE US BACK from what happened in the Garden.

Evil can only be done by fallen angels, and rebellious humans, and evil came about by Lucifer and the angels that rebelled against God,although Lucifer catches the most heat for leading that rebellion, and he was made perfect in his ways, until iniquity was found in him,and he is the father of lies, and the accuser of the brethren, and a big pain in the butt on earth,as he only wants to wreck havoc on humanity, and is like a roaring lion, walking the earth, seeking whom he may devour.

Unfortunately the KJV misses the indefinite article here; the love of money is "a" root of all evils.

Man had a choice: follow God, or follow self. Sin and death
entered
creation as the result of one man's choice.
Fear of death is the cause of slavery (to sin).

Was there ever a "before God"? Anyway, the Lord needed to give us free will - thus evil arose, off the top of my head.

=========================================

there could/can, NEVER be a 'before Yeshua' - else this would negate the scripture,
'I inhabit eternity'...

What was the first verse in the Bible to use the word 'evil'?

Does the word 'root' have anything to do with said verse?

What about the second verse to use said word?

Jesus Rules1 answered the question, so why all the other foolish replies that do nothing to teach. I have been a member here for awhile, but I rarely respond to any of these threads because of the foolishness within them. You say you seek Fathers truth and understanding of His written word, but it seems you desire to hear yourself more. What an abomination.

God Bless

Genesis 2:9 The Lord God made all kinds of trees grow out of the ground—trees that were pleasing to the eye and good for food. In the middle of the garden were the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

Evil arose from creation. I don't believe the devil was created evil. He became evil. Free to choose. As long as God creates hosts of heaven and humans with the ability to think and to contemplate, to choose, evil will exist.
God doesn't want robots. He wants people with the ability to choose to love Him and serve Him.

We know that evil came about through the serpent and the serpent is identified in Revelation as being the one called Satan and the Devil. The bible says that the serpent was a created being and is compared to the other creatures God created with the exception that he was very subtle(insight). Why was the serpent so gifted in intelligence, we are not told. At any rate the serpent had a very low opinion of God because he called God a liar to the woman(you shall not surely die). Why did he have such an opinion of the Creator, we are not told. The serpent obviously wanted the woman and man to die, that is why he tricked them into disobeying God. Why did the serpent(who is Satan the Devil) have no fear of God the Creator at all? We are not told that either.

And what does money do? It gives to holder what they want- which is even more specific. It started when Satan wanted to be above God. Evil starts as a self-centered desire.

I agree that as it is written, there are more questions than answers regarding the "fall of man". I've come to believe that we have an incomplete account of history or the story is allegorical. What is evil, is as much a philosophical question as theological. We serve a God of structure, and order. Everything in nature follows rules and patterns. Man's desire to elevate his own status has messed with the natural balance of creation. It was our job to be the stewards of this world. Instead of serving God and falling into our roles as His servants, we are cursed under the fallible rule of man. Since we are out of balance everything we touch will continue to perpetuate chaos. Chaos is evil. The love of money is evil because it promotes chaos. What does money do but throw off the balance even more. Rich men rule because of their inheritance and ability to amass wealth. In nature the strong and the smart are awarded with their right to govern. That is natural. That is God's design. Alpha males dominate and females chose them to strengthen the species. Money is a false strength, it is meaningless.
