We know that as New Covenant Christians we have died to the law of Moses and have been released from the Law and not under the law anymore but under grace - which is Christ Himself. We also know that Jesus Himself is the fulfillment of the Law.

So, if we do not live by the oldness of the letter of the Law of Moses anymore - by how do live in the New Covenant? We live by the newness of life which is only in Christ Himself. The spirit of Life.

We also know that Jesus elevated the Law of Moses to show us the real intent of it. Jesus gave us the upgrade 2.0 software version of the Law based on His quality of life.

Jesus said, "You have heard it said you shall not murder but I say to you if you are angry you have murdered." Jesus elevated the law of Moses to show us our need for Him and His righteousness.

How does Jesus fulfill the intent of the Law of Moses when we look at the 10 commandments which is a part of the Law as Paul shows in Romans 7:7

We do have laws/principles in the New Covenant that we live by now - wonderful laws - the law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus, the law of faith ( the Law is not of faith ) the law of liberty in Christ, the law of love, - the law of Christ Himself.

How does Jesus fulfill the 10 commandments now and how does His life in us bear His fruit of fulfilling these? I have some thoughts on this. Anyone else?

1) When you know Me, you will have no need for other gods because you have a loving Father.

2) When you know Me, the idols in your life will fade like mist in the sun because I am your only real life.

3) When you know Me, you will never stop speaking My name to establish freedom. My name is Jesus.

4) When you know Me, you will cease from your own works and rest in what I have done for you and do in you. I am your true Sabbath rest.

5) When you know Me, you will be honored as fathers and mothers to all people and you will honor those that are the same.

6) When you know Me, you will restore life.

7) When you know Me, you will experience deep, authentic relationships which you will treasure.

8) When you know Me, you will be established in abundance and generosity.

9) When you know Me, you will be My witness - a witness of who I really am and that is always truth.

10) When you know Me, My love which is in you is your love for your neighbor flowing in and through you that will bring restoration to this world.

I believe these are some of the ways that the Lord Jesus fulfills the real intent of the law. I'm sure we haven't even scratched the surface of what the Lord has done.

When the apostle says we are no longer under law, but under grace, he is talking about the demands of that law and our condemnation under it.

Jesus never elevated what he established at Sinai, he was expounding and correcting the abuse of that law by the religious teachers in his day who were using verses like, "Eye for an eye, and tooth for a tooth" for personal use when the Mosiac Law used it for civil use.

The moral law was never intended to save anyone, not even Adam was told to keep the Ten Commandments in order to attain glory. Now the purpose of the Mosiac Law was for a typical and physical people (Israelites) about earthly and temporal blessings in an earthly and temporal land (Canaan), and it is gone because a better covenant with better promises to a spiritual people had officially replaced it; it was also the Covenant of Work to Jesus, in that obeying it was part of his salvific work in redeeming his people as well as his dying for their sins. We should follow the general equity of the Mosaic Law, because such equity is moral in nature.

I agree with the above. Jesus didn't elevate the law to a new standard. The Law was always intended to be a stumbling block with the intent of making sin attributable to the individual. Before the law everyone was just as much guilty but they had nothing to hang their sin onto. Jesus fulfilled the law just as he fulfilled the old covenant. He was the final & permanent blood sacrifice. That era is finished.
