Yes. I have been water baptized as a symbol a few months after of what happened to me when I believed the message of Christ and was baptized into His body by the Holy Spirit and sealed with the Holy Spirit of whom Jesus said would be in us forever. John 14:16.

Ephesians 1:13 (NASB)
[SUP]13 [/SUP] In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation—having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise,

My only regret was I wish I would have been taught then what I know now of what being water baptized was a representation of. That I died with Christ on the cross too and was raised to newness of life with His resurrection and that my life is hidden with Christ in God.

I really don't think these things are games.... people are dogmatic about certain things , but that doesn't make it a game, the things people feel they need to do, that are both harmless to themselves or others, and they are not trying to force others to do it, and they are not standing in judgement of others who do, or do not (as the case may be) then it comes down to one thing, and one thing only, its between them and the Almighty.

Everyone who is in a relationship with our beloved Savior, should walk out their faith in the way they are being led to do so by Him, and if that looks different then what others are doing, or have been taught to do, then to put your self in the way and seek to "guide" them on the path we think they should be on, this is dangerous ground, this walk we are in is Spiritual and none of this is a game, those who daily take up their cross and follow Him do so in a walk of faith, there are souls in grievous bondage, others who are die never having experienced the love of God through His people, , we as followers of the Savior need to stand for truth and be prepared to treat others with the same patience and kindness by which He draws and leads us.

yes, it's a symbol of my commitment.

I grew up in an American Baptist Church. So, of course. :)

Yes it's symbolic of being buried and raised to newness of life, an outward testimony,
it is also commended by Jesus. :)

Amazing experience I felt such incredible joy afterwards.

i think it matters a great deal, as we've been commanded to be baptized.
it's one of the two ordinances of the Church. it's a blessing to participate in them.

I think with you we need to rinse and repeat....:p
That's pretty funny, but I do think once is enough :D

The scary part of my baptism was being in a baptismal font with
a live microphone, and being told, make sure not to touch the mike.

Yes I've been baptized, which I was refusing to do after an encounter with the oneness crowd and their Acts 2:38 gospel. I was told it was a public confession of an inward reality. Which is true, I was given all the usual verses for baptism, but I always thought I needed to fully investigate it because of the oneness crowd, which there are some here. Baptismal regeneration is a work for salvation.

Interesting how we've all been taught things that later we may disagree with, once we've study the Bible for yourselves. I can only find one Scripture in the epistles that refers to water baptism. I Peter 3:21 "Baptism, which corresponds to this, now saves you, not as a removal of dirt from the body but as an appeal to God for a good conscience, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,"

All the others are about the baptism of the Spirit or our union with Christ into His death and resurrection. Water baptism is an appeal to God for a good conscience. Peter uses the word "for" again when talking about baptism. Acts 2:38
“Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit." Peter is not saying that baptism brings a good conscience or forgiven of sins.

He's using the word "for" which could be translated, because, in the same way we use it in the figure of speech, "you can take an aspirin for a headache". Are we taking the aspirin to get a headache, no, we are taking it because we have a headache. The same in these verses, we get baptized because we have forgiveness of sins and because we have a good conscience toward God, through the resurrection. Which means we are justified through the resurrection Romans 4:25 "
who was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification." He was raised for our justification and we are raised with him for our justification, in out union with Him by the baptism of the Spirit.

What were you doing in the bath with mike?....hmmmm.

When I was baptized, they had pulled the plug on the baptismal tank, me and my ex had arrived as the service was about to end.

The pastor saw that we were "newbies" to that church. He came up to us and asked about out faith etc. He asked if I'd been baptized, I said no. He said do you want to be baptized?

What ran through my mind right away was "what doth hinder me to be baptized" exactly with the KJV words.

I said sure - he instructed someone to put the plug back in. I had no baptismal "garb" with me, just my street clothes.

I ended up borrowing the still wet baptismal "gear" of a 6'4" Fijian, I'm 5'9".

The tank was half empty by the time they got the plug put back in. So the pastor had to bend me over pretty far to duck me under.

so if there's only one baptism for remission of sins, which baptism is it?

The one that saves is the Holy Spirit baptism. It is the baptism that only Christ can administer. Men administer water and that is external.

For the cause of Christ
