In [Jesus] all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross.

God is love. He is rich in mercy. We love Him, because He first loved us.

God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent
His only Son into the world, so that we might live through Him.

Amen...great OP!

I like the truth that news is something that has already happened. It was called by the Greeks - the "nearly too good to be true news". Almost inconceivable. The term was only used a couple of times in secular usage because of the extreme rarity of something being that inconceivable.

I just read this morning in my journal what I had written down a few years ago.

" If we don't get excited about the gospel, we have not really grasped what it is really telling us. If we are not in absolute amazement of the gospel of the grace of God in Christ - then we do not have the revelation of the Lord Jesus Christ yet like we should.

When the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that being justified by his grace we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

1 Corinthians 15:1-4
15 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

"What is the gospel itself but a merciful moderation, in which Christ's obedience is esteemed ours, and our sins laid upon him, wherein God, from being a judge, becomes our Father, pardoning our sins and accepting our obedience, though feeble and blemished? We are now brought to heaven under the covenant of grace by a way of love and mercy."

- Richard Sibbes
