Thanks but I did watch the Passion of the Christ. That was enough to put me in tears. It is on Netflix by the way :)
I've seen the movie too and yes it does have that effect. This is more about the effects crucifixion has on the body, it is truly the worst way to die - and slow.

When we think about Jesus crucifiction we think mainly of the physical aspect of what Jesus went through. Many people who were crucified went thru these types of torture so that isnt the thing that gets me. The thing that gets me is that for a period God the Father removed Himself from Jesus in a way we dont understand. Jesus went thru a seperation from God the Father to pay for our sins. Now that is something that touches ne. Jesus being fully God and fully man was seperated from God the Father in a way i can never undetstand to save my life. Many people have sacrificed themselves for others but no one has ever willingly seperated themselves from God for someone else. Can you imagine what that would have been like for Jesus? That is the true definition of love. Just WOW! He did that willingly for me and you.

They never make His face look like it truly did, Isaiah 50:6 "I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to them that plucked off the hair: I hid not my face from shame and spitting." Plus they punched Him in the face to the point He was unrecognizable as a man. The carpel and plantar fascia nerves had spike through them, which was like sign powered electric shocks going through His body from the arms and legs.

He had to be fully God to forgive sins past, present and future. This is hard to explain but, since He is eternal God everything He
experienced in His punishment, crucifixion and separation from God was experience eternally. It had to be, since we deserve eternal separation from God. It hard to understand how in His flesh all the pain was felt eternal by His Spirit. I think about that at night sometimes and I can't get my head around it fully.

I don't think any of us can possibly understand how Jesus truly suffered, I try not to think of it for too long...it is heartbreaking.
