The way is narrow they say as if to point to a striving strength that comes from within. I choose something else that is narrow, to be narrow minded as far as my salvation is concerned. Jesus is my savior, I in no way save myself it is He who saves me. The way is narrow and that is because there is only one path to God, the Father and that is through Jesus Christ the Son of God. The difficulty people wish to express is counteracted by His saving grace. We, ourselves, are set with an impossible task one that is echoed in the Law of Moses as we look at it as like a mirror revealing our ever failing self.

We need Jesus and He is The Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Him. Our entire Christian experience is only possible because of Him and it is through Him as the Author and Finisher of our faith that we are redeemed. Salvation as much of the world strives to reach it is something that is ours through rest. How paradoxical are God's truths to man's so called wisdom? They strive, we rest. They hope, we have attained through faith and our hope is sure because it has sets itself upon the One that is faithful.

Amen brother, and that is the testimony of the resurrection of Christ. The excepted sacrifice.
But if I may ask, what are we to do with this Jesus?

been reading the smaller books to the back of the new testament lately

II Peter 3

how do we do what verses 14 - 17 tell us to do? how are we found spotless?

well, it seems we grow in grace if I understand v 18 correctly

I'm not sure, but I don't think I have seen a thread here that discusses growing in grace? seems to usually be grace vs something

but this verse really caught my eye since it has been awhile since I read the Peters

grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus in order to present yourself spotless, blameless and at peace

that is how it seems to read to me; nothing about working for it or being afraid or not being sure so you had better be good

in Jesus, we learn more about the grace of God and what some strive for we attain in God's Son

14So then, dear friends, since you are looking forward to this, make every effort to be found spotless, blameless and at peace with him. 15Bear in mind that our Lord’s patience means salvation, just as our dear brother Paul also wrote you with the wisdom that God gave him. 16He writes the same way in all his letters, speaking in them of these matters. His letters contain some things that are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people distort, as they do the other Scriptures, to their own destruction.17Therefore, dear friends, since you have been forewarned, be on your guard so that you may not be carried away by the error of the lawless and fall from your secure position. 18But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen.

I think spots and blemishes in our gowns are false teachings and losing our first love because of trials and tribulations. Also unforgiveness and grudges with others, especially the brethren.

I think it was grace7 that spoke of the false teachings...he can correct me if wrong.

You have worded your question perfectly, as to what we are to do with Jesus. We walk with the Lord, we live in obedience to His leading and we fellowship with Him. We spread Him to the world around us, as we live as extensions of Christ to those we come in contact with. Christ so shines through us, that they get but a glimpse of Christ in us, hope of glory. We seek His will, and we walk in our purpose.

Not all of our lives will be similar because we all have different callings and have been chosen for specific purposes. However what we do with this Jesus is submit to His lordship in our lives and follow Him in gratitude to His service. As our example He served and in the same way we are to serve by Him and through Him. Using our resources and talents for His glory. Some serve in hospitality, others in healing, others in giving prophecy, and yet others in feeding the poor or in generosity. Each to his own, giving from that which God has provided. Glory to God.

As scripture notes, we are saved unto good works.

Ephesians 5:25-27 "as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, 26 that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, 27 so that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish."

He gave Himself for us and He cleanses us, with the water of the word. Hallelujah!!!

As far salvation, this Is the what we should do,
John 6:27-29
King James Version(KJV)

27.)Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed.

28.)Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God?

29.)Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.
+++

After being reborn

Romans 12:1-2
King James Version(KJV)

1.)I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

2.)And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

I totally agree...so why are christians not walking with Him 24/7 ? come sabbath they are off doing their own thing while HE is to be found in church/synagogue.
Friends, if you don't walk with and know the Jesus of yesterday how will you recognise/walk with the same Jesus today or in the future ? Heb 13v8.
Why do you think He the real Jesus is going to say to the many'' I never knew you ! because they walked with an imposter who deceived them Mat 24v4,5.

Jesus is not found in a church or a synagogue. He is found in us - we are the temple of God. Jesus Himself is our Sabbath rest. All the Old Testament declares that Christ is the real substance of all things.

We can be sitting in a church building or synagogue all Saturday long and be violating the true Sabbath which is resting in Christ's finished work on the cross and resurrection. We could be in "dead works" and thinking we are "keeping the Sabbath" but in reality - we are violating it. Jesus is our real Sabbath. Do not accept a poor substitute that was meant to lead us to Christ Himself.

It's not that we have forgotten the way - we don't really know that He alone is the Way. He is the Alpha and Omega. The Aleph and Tav. All of creation and the Old Testament speak of Him.

[SUP]16 [/SUP]And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?
[SUP]17 [/SUP]And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.
[SUP]18 [/SUP]He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness,
[SUP]19 [/SUP]Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
[SUP]20 [/SUP]The young man saith unto him, All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet?
[SUP]21 [/SUP]Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.
[SUP]22 [/SUP]But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions. Matthew 19:16-22

JESUS IS TRULY THE WAY! :)

John 10:9 - I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture.

John 14:6 - Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me."

Acts 4:12 - And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved.

so how do we grow in grace?

I have not seen that discussion here

perhaps someone thinks I am suggesting works for growth, but that is not true

growing in grace suggest relationship with Jesus

I don't know why you posted those scriptures? I don't know if you are contradicting or what

sorry

you seem to suggest that only you know who Jesus is because you go to a church on Saturday

God walked with Adam and Eve EVERY EVENING, not just on one day

you limit God in your own understanding

I cannot believe the number of people in this forum that seem to think no one but them have any sort of understanding

you are actually believing in a very small god if that is how you perceive Him

I really like this verse here : p

John 8:12 12When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."

I like to think on that one, since coming to Him, it really does feel like the entire world lives in darkness.
Like, most people dont even understand Him, I often see people talking about Christianity among each other, and they always talk about "doing enough good things to be saved". They really dont understand Him at all.

Things that I once thought were good, I now can easily understand why they are evil. He really is the Light that guides me : p I believe if everyone were willing to actually come to Him, they would be able to understand Him.

He will say he never knew them because they used their works, instead of receiving G0ods grace gift of eternal life. To get to heaven, So all they have to show is their works.. thats why they are judged at the great white throne for their works.. And they are found lacking.. Ahy? Because they never had a relationship with Christ. HE NEVER KNEW THEM,, thinking they practiced good works, and obeyed God.. instead they practice sin (self righteousness) and never knew God.

All these scriptures are absolutely true if we are 'blessed enough to follow the REAL Jesus ! but woe betide you if you follow the impersonator He warned us of and who keeps not His law/commandments - because you will hear the fatal words ' I never knew you, depart from me you that work iniquity.

Do not be deceived - not everyone who preaches Jesus speaks the truth ! Mat 24v4,5. 7v21-23.

I believe He does go out to find the lost sheep, a lot are far from a church or synagogues, in places beyond comprehension.

That is YOUR judgement and interpretation....and condemnation ! learn to differentiate between holy and unholy.
