I don't know what sins you may struggle with as the Lord progressively sanctifies you, and as God's fruit comes to, well, fruition, but I wonder, when we do that which we hate and continue to do so, but wish to eventually be set free, how many times must we hit rock bottom before we wake up and take a stand? Why do we keep falling and when is the point that we stand?
I know the answer. God is the one that sanctifies us, but we can't exactly express culpability to the Lord because "He is taking forever to set me free." There is a level of responsibility but in the same respect, there is grace. Not to wallow in sin, but to eventually be set free. To learn, to understand. To see sin for what it is, destructive. Yet also to see the beauty of holiness and righteousness.
I do see the battle, but I also comprehend that it is the Lords, in that I rely upon Him. As David defeated Goliath because of the Lord, so shall any battle we face be the Lords because He is for us and not against us. So, I don't know your struggle, but rely on the Lord. He will set you free. He is more than capable. He is willing. I don't know the amount of times it will take for you to fall and learn, it is subjective, but I am not so sure that is where the victory is found. In trial and error. The victory it seems is through God, and so I only can implore you to do this.
Seek Him. Give your battle to the Lord and declare that is is His, for without Him you are without hope. You are helpless and in despair (without the Lord). Yet, Christ is victorious. Victory is yours. He has made you an overcomer. Pray that God sanctifies you, as He is, and do not settle to be where you are. He has greater things for you. Hunger and thirst after righteousness, and may He fill you.
