I don't know what sins you may struggle with as the Lord progressively sanctifies you, and as God's fruit comes to, well, fruition, but I wonder, when we do that which we hate and continue to do so, but wish to eventually be set free, how many times must we hit rock bottom before we wake up and take a stand? Why do we keep falling and when is the point that we stand?

I know the answer. God is the one that sanctifies us, but we can't exactly express culpability to the Lord because "He is taking forever to set me free." There is a level of responsibility but in the same respect, there is grace. Not to wallow in sin, but to eventually be set free. To learn, to understand. To see sin for what it is, destructive. Yet also to see the beauty of holiness and righteousness.

I do see the battle, but I also comprehend that it is the Lords, in that I rely upon Him. As David defeated Goliath because of the Lord, so shall any battle we face be the Lords because He is for us and not against us. So, I don't know your struggle, but rely on the Lord. He will set you free. He is more than capable. He is willing. I don't know the amount of times it will take for you to fall and learn, it is subjective, but I am not so sure that is where the victory is found. In trial and error. The victory it seems is through God, and so I only can implore you to do this.

Seek Him. Give your battle to the Lord and declare that is is His, for without Him you are without hope. You are helpless and in despair (without the Lord). Yet, Christ is victorious. Victory is yours. He has made you an overcomer. Pray that God sanctifies you, as He is, and do not settle to be where you are. He has greater things for you. Hunger and thirst after righteousness, and may He fill you.

Yes I know this battle all to well I have also wondered how many times must i fall before I finally learn? There are several chains i bear that i have begged God to be set free many people have prayed for me as well yet these chains are as strong as ever. I fall down so many times and I could easily beat myself up about it and wallow in my failure yet I hear a whisper in my heart saying to look and and stand and to keep moving forward trusting in him.

Actually to be honest it is because of my struggles with these chains that I learned how to stay strong and trust in him so much, I do not know why I am burdened with them and why I cannot be set free from them for now but had i not fallen down so many times and carried these chains for so long I likely would not have learned how to trust in him so greatly.

Because you see a wise man once said when you have hit rock bottom the only other way to go is up :)

Just ask yourself how often does a Baby/toddler fall on his bottom while learning to walk ? countless times, but always gets up and tries again...that's how we must be with JESUS as our helping hand !

because we are not concerned with just walking on this earth but to continue UPwards....which absolutely can not be done by our own effort. Yet even so we do 'what is given us to do in preparation for that event'.

Unless we form the habit of going to the Bible in bright moments as well as in trouble, we can not fully respond to its consolations because we lack equilibrium between light and darkness. Helen Keller

Character can not be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, ambition inspired, and success achieved. Helen Keller

I have fallen many times. I couldn't count it. But God's forgiveness knows no boundaries. He's indescribable. His love is unfailing. His goodness is endless. His mercy is measureless and His grace is never-ending. Thank you Lord Jesus! In YOU, we are made clean and through YOU we are sanctified. All the glory belongs to you, Lord God!

I have heard somewhere that one of the differences between a sinner & a saint is both fall down, but only the saint can get back up by the power of God.

The breaking of rebellion doesn't come from trying to change ourselves or even continual repentance. It comes from seeing God in the light that we need to see.

The goodness of the Lord leadeth men to repent.

Ben my brother, we may lose many battles but remember Jesus won the war.

Ben, sin is not something we do then don't do. Sin is a condition we are all in. Praise God the great physician has begun a operation on us that will be completed when we see our maker face to face. And like any good doctor would have us do we have signed a waiver by acknowledging that we in fact have this condition and look to him as the only one who can cure us.

The simplicity of the gospel is this....seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness an all things shall be added unto you.
In the Roman days one of the things that would be done to you if you killed a fellow Roman was to take the corpse and tie it to you as punishment. Day after day until it rotted to nothing. Every where you went even when you slept it was to be tied to you.
Scripture tells us to reckon the old man dead but are we to be tied to him? Christ made everything new. Stop carrying the old man around . Remember our advocate when we sin and keep walking.

Bingo! - The flesh must make way to the Spirit!

One may repent of offenses, be sorrowful for sin, and resolve to improve with tears; yet this is not salvation. Confession, decision, as well as many other religious feelings are not regeneration. Even the determination of the will, the knowledge of the intellect, and the receptiveness of the mind in deciding to gain that which is good, beautiful, and noble are merely the functions of the soul, while the spirit may remain entirely unmoved. In the matter of salvation, man's will, emotion, and mind are not the basic or primary items; rather, they are secondary, subordinate. They are servants, not the master.

Therefore, regardless whether it is the sufferings of the body, the excitement of the emotion, the demand of the will, or the understanding of the mind working out reforms and improvements, none of these is what the Bible calls being born again. The regeneration in the Bible takes place in a part deeper than man's body and soul. It is in his spirit that the Holy Spirit imparts God's life to him.

From this position all sins are conquerable, as we live by it continually! Continually; namely in Jesus Christ.Obeying Him.

The power of darkness is real. Sin is real. The only answer that gives the Believer victory over the world, the flesh, and the devil, is placing your Faith exclusively in Christ and Cross, i.e., The Blood of Jesus, i.e., The Finished Work of Christ. We must acknowledge that we need the Grace of God to overcome the sins we repeat. The ability to die to self can't be accomplished without the baptism of the Holy Spirit. The scripture says, "And when He had said this, He breathed on them (His Disciples), and said unto them, Receive you the Holy Spirit (Born of the Spirit): John 20:22

On the day of Pentecost they were all filled with the Holy Ghost (Baptism of the Holy Spirit), and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. Acts 2:4
