Hello !

I have a question I would like to ask to all Christians here.

First of all, I am a professed Christian, however so far I have been living secularly, constantly indulging in temptations and conforming to the world. Lately things have begun to happen in my life (I start losing interest in things I normally loved to do) and I each passing day I feel a deeper sense of sorrow and loneliness in my heart, this has culminated to the point where I just want to either kill myself or surrender myself fully to God. I hope to do the latter, however right now I find it very challenging to let go of certain things, especially plans for my future and certain possessions I have. I feel that in order to help me surrender I need to know the consequences of following Jesus, not only the goods but also the negatives, otherwise I fear that I will fall to discouragement in my walk with God in the future.

So my question to you all is:

1. What are the pros and cons of following Jesus based on your experiences?
2. What are your main motivation in following Christ?
3. What made you surrender your life to Him?
4. How hard is it to follow Jesus?
5. Will people hate you/will you be lonely as a true Christian?
6. How much pain is there in following Him?
7. Is there anything I can hold on to after surrendering my life and heart to CHrist aart from Christ Himself?
8. Can I lose my salvation after I surrender my life to Him?
9. What should I do after I surrender to Jesus Christ?
10.How do I find the right people/church/community after I become a Christian?
11.How do I find the courage to share my testimony?

Thank you very much for your time and answers, it really means a whole lot to me right now.

Jesus Bless You!

Hei og Velkommen

First off, I hope you know what you described (if it has been going on over time) are tell- tale signs of depression, and that you have some plan for dealing with it, as it rarely goes away by itself.

---
1 and 2:
+ Since I believe that Jesus is the only way to be reconciled with God, I know that He is the only way to salvation.
+ Fellowship with other Christians gives a feeling of belonging, something I have nowhere else.
- It's impossible to say anything Christian in public without someone accusing you of being either delusional or hateful or both.

3: To be honest I am not sure I ever "surrendered" it.

4: Depends what you define as follow I guess. If we are to truly do what his diciples did I think few of us come close.
(so: Very hard?)

5/6: Yes. Jesus promised pain, hate and persecutions from the world.
For some it is a matter of live and death, for us it is more a matter of not getting entangled in pointless debates with atheists-

7: His promises.

8: People don't agree on this. I think you can loose salvation, but ONLY if you stop believing, others believe you can never loose it.

9: Get to know Him better (by studying the scriptures), spend time with other Christians to learn from them (remember to check their claims with the bible, and see if you can find a way to contribute (Which is good for both the church / community you help out in and yourself)

10: Look around. Try different things ... but remember that no-one is perfect :)
Some like the orderly, arranged, ritual style (ie What was previously "Statskirken)
Some like a freer, more casual style (i.e Vineyard)
Some like a lot of tongues, music and action (Pinsemenighet)

and then there is everything in between .... Metodist (a bit ritual style), Baptist (a bit like Pinsemeningheten?) ++++

11: Depends in what context you want to share it. A good church allows people to share their experiences

Each day I'm able to walk on despite everything happening in the world... and the only reason for this is by the Grace of GOD.

I suggest you seek and build yourself upon the Truth, the Testimony of the Messiah. You are not able to be perfect but he will perfect you.

In the end you will need Faith and love in the Truth.

You wish not to end your life but to find strength to live in the darkness. There is light and you must seek.

1. Letting go of a lot of things (old aquaintances and stuff) can sometimes be hard..well at the beginning
There are so many pros that I cant count them all. I feel safer, at peace, no depression, had a lot of healing, I can always turn to God, im not alone anymore etc... its so much

2. My motivation is Love and peace :) also being able to be there for people and all its just outstanding

3. He gave me the choice. Him or the enemy, if I come to him he will help me and get me out. It wouldnt be easy but he would be with me.. and I knew God is greater so I choose him.

4.
Well it was hard at first because there was a lot of change that had to happen but after a while its like a road...most of the time its pretty stable but theres times that are harder when trials come and things step into your way. Its definitely worth it all though

5. Honestly.. I am very very loved by believers and non believers in general but theres people also who hate me. Somehow its more people in christian circles that will bring resistance (my experience). Its not lonely because Gods peace is with me so much and even when leaving a abusive relationship, where you would break, he lifts you up and gives you strenght and sends you people when you need them.

6. Depends on your walk. I believe thats different from person to person. I had much more pain when i was not a christian. When I came to Christ more and more just left and im well :p

7. His promises. He is always there, he will hear you and he will act upon it. Maybe not when and the way you expect and want it..but he will NOT let you down

8. I believe so but thats a very controversial topic.

9. Keep following him

10. That depends on you. Let God guide you. he got me to my church pretty much by accident lol Go from church to church, let God guide you and see where you feel home

11. Well that is something that I cannot help you with.

What does a "professing Christian" mean?

That's what you say you are, yet you say you have never accepted Him as your Lord and savior.

Once you do that, the Holy Spirit will work in you to conform you with the likeness of Christ through the Word, fellowship with other believers, and many other methods.

What does it mean to you to ""follow Jesus""..

For me it is easy to follow Jesus and it is hard to follow Jesus.. It is easy to believe Jesus and trust in Jesus, Most of the hard stuff comes from the opposition i get from other people for following Jesus.. But in the end i know that all the persecution i get from other people will only last for this life time.. In eternity my experience will be bliss..

2. What are your main motivation in following Christ?
Because His truth is... True andHis love is Pure. IU want truth and love and with Jesus i get both in bucket loads.

3. What made you surrender your life to Him?
I never surrendered my life for Him.. He gave up His life willingly to save me.. I believe Him and trust in the atonement He secured for my salvation.. All glory and honor and boasting are for Jesus. There is nothing i can boast about.. Thinking that i can give anything to Him is for me a delusional way of thinking.. Everything i have, including my very existence is a gift from Him.. If i attempted to give Him something then it would only be returning something He already has given me..

4. How hard is it to follow Jesus?
It is easy to believe and trust Jesus when you believe His is Perfect..

5. Will people hate you/will you be lonely as a true Christian?
Yes.. Many will..

6. How much pain is there in following Him?
Well there is good pain in the form of remorse and conviction that comes from the Holy Spirit ( God is Spirit form) And then there is the pain that comes from people who hate you because you love the truth of God.. These things vary depending on God and on people..

7. Is there anything I can hold on to after surrendering my life and heart to CHrist aart from Christ Himself?
Um everything you have is from god so hold onto what you will to hold onto and leave what you feel you need to leave..

8. Can I lose my salvation after I surrender my life to Him?
Yes if you cease to Believe Jesus and cease to trust in the Atonement that He secured to save you from the eternal lake of fire..

9. What should I do after I surrender to Jesus Christ?
Believe Him and trust in the atonement He secured to save you..

10.How do I find the right people/church/community after I become a Christian?
By looking.... Comparing what they affirm as truth to the Bible teachings of Jesus.. Maybe you will not find a physical church.. But you will come upon people who's beliefs conform to the scriptures.. The true Church is the body of believers in this world who are lead and are Indwelled by the Holy Spirit.. They are rare but you will bump into them from time to time during your life long Journey with God.

11.How do I find the courage to share my testimony?
By not being overly concerned with other peoples reaction to your testimony... People are not Gods.. Your walk with Christ is between you and Him in the end..

Thank you very much for your time and answers, it really means a whole lot to me right now.

Jesus Bless You!
Yes Jesus blessed me beyond anything i deserved... Because His blessings are a true gift that i can never earn... Don't fall into the works salvation trap of trying or feeling you have to pay Jesus back for Him saving you... Once you start to repay Him for His gift you will be insulting Him.. A true gift is never paid for.. To offer payment for a true gift is an insult to the gift giver..

May the LORD Jesus Christ Bless you.. :)

There are no negatives to following Jesus. In fact, it is the only way that you will ever find true meaning and purpose in life. You give Him all that you are, which is nothing, and He gives you all that He is, which is everything. It's ALL good.

Based on my observations and reading of scripture through the years I don't believe that you can lose your salvation. I urge you to confess and repent of your sins to Jesus and to accept His sacrifice and dying and shedding HIs blood on the cross and invite the Holy Spirit to live in your heart and to guide the path that He wants you to take. Until you do this your questions you ask and the answers you receive that will have little or no meaning. You should set aside time everyday for studying the Word of God and praying for the grace of God to apply what you understand to your day to day living in your humble service to the Lord.

Lol, I don't understand what you mean by "CHristians", but since there might be a very small chance that you are referring to the people here who believe in and worship Jesus, I'll have a go...

1. Pros: I won't go to Hell. Cons: 80% of the people I know probably will.

2. To help me become a better person as a whole, and to not go to Hell.

3. I can't really summarise what made me surrender to him in a sentence. Check the link below my truly inspirational quote if you are curious.

4. Meh so far, but I feel that there is still more to come.

5. My parents know that I am a Christian, and so does my Muslim best friend. My father is actually glad that I'm one because he is also a Christian, albeit a very firm believer in the Ten Commandments. Religion also has no affect on my friendship, though I don't want to risk the friendship by shoving Christianity down my friend's throat, despite what others recommend...

6. See Answer 4.

7. I'm sorry, but I do not know who "CHrist" is. But just in case you were referring to our Lord and Saviour...I don't really understand your question, sorry.

8. *Turns around to see the angry CC mob behind her* ..............

9. Do Christian things, like reading the Bible, for example. Or something, I guess.

10. I'm not really the best person to go to for this kind of question, so sorry, mate :/

11. It is highly debatable if that's even necessary (due to the little 'pre-' thing which we don't speak of here), but if you want to go ahead, I might as well show you...

*Random person walks by*

Me: Hello, good sir! Did you know that if you don't submit your soul to the Holy Ultimate Supreme Ruler Jesus Christ, YOUR SOUL WILL BURN IN HELL FOR ALL ETERNITY!!!!!!!

*Random person runs away in the opposite direction*

There. That's the way to do it.

1. What are the pros and cons of following Jesus based on your experiences?
Life versus death.

2. What are your main motivation in following Christ?
Love. Truth.

3. What made you surrender your life to Him?
He is the way the Truth and the life, the light and life of mankind.

4. How hard is it to follow Jesus?
He enables you to surrender more fully over time.

5. Will people hate you/will you be lonely as a true Christian?
Haha. The world will hate you. What does it profit a man to gain the whole world but lose his soul?

6. How much pain is there in following Him?
Picking up your cross to follow Him. Not easy, I admit. Satan falsely
accusing you constantly. You learn to lean more and more on Him.

Welcome to CC! :)

1. You will be saved! You will have eternal life with God!!!! God will help you and the holy spirit will giev ou auidance and help to you in your life! That you will be saved and have eternal life with God is the biggest pro of all. No cons to report of.

2. Eternal life and to be saved. Also of kindness and wanting to help and God's grace for us.

3. I had demons all around me and I couldn't cope, I prayed and begged God to help. Then he saved me.

4. Not hard, I sin everyday but I always apologise for the sins I commit. Anyway Jesus died on the cross for our sins, so we can be forgiven for our sins. So it isn't hard at all to follow Jesus. You just have to be the best person you can be and have your personal relationship with God.

5. The thing is, with racism, biasedness, etc. people will hate you ANYWAY! Yes if you're a Christian they'll use that as an excuse to hate you. But if you were a satanist, if you were an athiest, if you were black, if you were gay, whatever. People will find some reason to hate you anyway so that really isn't a problem.

If you just be yourself, and the person you naturally are, and are confident. People won't care if you're a Christian or not. I get along with loads of people and they don't treat me any different just cos I'm a Christian.

6. Don't get that question, he hasn't caused me any pain, I guess people being mean to you cos you're Christian would be one. But I've never had that so don't know.

7. Your life and heart is who you are, material possessions won't be saved. But who cares because in eternal life with god you're in store for SO SOOOOO MUCH MORE

8. Yes

9. Keep a daily relationship with God. Pray, everyday, confess your sins to him and him alone. Talk to God about everything, any worries, any issues, even good things and say how your day is going. Also try to help people and guide them to Christ, in the right way of course.

10. Some people only need the Bible. You don't NEED any church, any community or any demonation. You ONLY need the Bile to learn about Christ and to grow as a Christian. You can also pray to get lessons and guidence.

It's VERY hard to find the right church or community because there are SO MANY "Christians" who don't follow what the Bible says. You have Catholics and Anglicans for example, you even have some lgbt "christians". You must find a church which promotes everything perfect in order to answer this question. Which is VERY DIFFICULT as lot of churches also have a few small stuff wrong, but is overall wrong.

Match what the chruch/community say with scripture, if it doesn't go with scripture, then it's a bad community to follow.

11. Just man up and do it. Not hard, just say what happened in your life. If you wanna of course. You don't have to, not everyone does. Noone's gonna judge, we have all had horrible lives, (except maybe justin bieber fanboys) so just do it. Not hard.

Many good answers here, but I pray for you that you fully feel Christ's unconditional love for you. Let yourself rest in that for awhile before you even think of following Him.

That love, when it embraces your spirit and soul will do its work. You will then love and worship the only One could love you so perfectly.

Everything else comes from this place. Following - surrender - etc.

I count peace with the Lord as a treasure; knowing someone greater than myself is always with me. And is for my good. Plus, He makes Himself known...His presence. Nothing like it.

Jesus Bless You!
Thats the major problems that come your way our ways if we dont really try to please God does the heavy lifting its not that we dont FEEL the heaviness or pain but he wants to take it away he has to heal us over our whole lives but there will be times where he will deliver and heal us and move us out of great pain so we can move on in the journey like boulders of rock Jesus will say right boulder out of the way! I love my child and jumps in a bulldozer so dont worry about the cost thats grace thats why God sent his Son Jesus for you for demi shes my friend she has know alot of pain but Jesus is right there beside crying with her sitting with her with all of us. Its humbling to me to allow God to strip away everything losing all of the stuff that isnt needed anymore of me the selfishness, all the sin I gotta repent tho till the day I get raptured.

to be honest im not as strong as I need to be but in my weakness he is strong! Abba my Father is so strong I find your questions a little scary to answer its quite difficult for me to take it at the moment makes me anxious but I love my papa - God he knows me where Im at because like you said in your honesty your having major problems and difficulty to me God is never a con no cons so please be careful with your words you may need to rephrase that ;) we need to give more honor to the Church and be careful not to hurt esp Christians some might find waht you said in no 1 hurtful but dont let it bother it bother you tho Im not getting at you! love to you oh and like others have said such as Demi keep following Christ! remember when you and I learn to honor the church more in it honors the Head of the Church Jesus Christ who gave and gave up his life suffered much for us how precious his children his church is to him which i dont know about you makes me want to love him more and more! clothed me in righteousness and yes Lord you took my shame away! for his Glory and the Glory of his Father to the praise honor and glory be given to the Lord ! as scripture says He has done it ! (Psalms) Jesus last words on the cross IT IS FINISHED! - and whenever life gets tough say that to yourself IT IS FINISHED he is the beloved Lamb of God so know he is enough and God wants to accomplish his will in your life it all he did everything for you it ws accomplished on the cross repent pray read your bible more and ask for forgiveness from God ,prayer from others choose Jesus follow Christ move on and have the best life you couldnt of dreamed of! Following Christ is so worth it our temporary little pain (dont focus on your pain) compared to the glory we will have is so worth it! I like saying that Jesus is so worth it!
I glad youre being honest you can get help. God bless you brother God loves you very much follow Christ as Lord focus on his love how much he loves spending alot of time in worship particularly with music of songs of worship and you singing praise to God thanking him . from my own life i love to humble myself more and more like Paul forsaking all counting it all loss he called it rubbish and he's exactly right! so that I can gain Christ. love and bless you commit your way to the Lord and all your plans will succeed commit your way to the Lord too and he will be sure to give you success
Psalm 37
