    Default Pharisees and arrogance

    How lost is a believer?
    a) ignores Jesus's words and intent
    b) boasts in their sin
    c) condemns people who walk righteously
    d) believes God will give them their worldly dreams
    e) ignores their heart and emotions
    f) is arrogant and lying to those who oppose them
    g) does not know the cross and sorrow at its foot
    h) redefines all the meanings of core Christian words
    I) is fine abusing others and trying to break them
    j) believes no one can fall from grace but the enemy never knew Him
    k) nothing emotional touches them, or they can relate to
    l) everything stays the same, or gets worse

Now these people do not know the darkness within or the anger that rises
in them all the time. That might be a clue to their blindness, yet they say
they know Christ, yet obviously they do not. And the source of their
arrogance is spiritual gifts. God help them, I weep at their lostness...

I never expected this, but if the Pharisees could be the works of the enemy
then so could these people. Remember the enemy sowed seed among us.

Jesus described the pharisees like this

You brood of vipers, how can you who are evil say anything good? For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.

You snakes! You brood of vipers! How will you escape being condemned to hell?

These are very strong words. They believed they were Gods chosen, the elect,
    untouchable.

    Their failings were
    1. greed
    2. self indulgence
    3. condemning works of God as works of satan
    4. ignoring justice - making sure evil is not done against anybody
    5. ignoring faithfulness - staying true to ones commitments
    6. ignoring mercy mercy - giving and helping others
    7. killing the people who bring the word of God
    8. full of hypocracy
    9. full of wickedness
    10. appearing to care but totally dead inside their hearts

People who are like this can never teach or be an example to others.

The call is to repent, to clean the heart, to face who one really is and
to bring it to the cross in humbleness and sorrow. He will heal, He will
make new, He will bring about salvation of the soul.

We could all be in this state, you only know if you look inside yourself
and ask, do you love Jesus, do you love the people of God?

Only you know the answer to this question, but there is always hope in
the cross in you will go their, and let Jesus into your heart.

Unfortunately the Pharisees were the ones thinking that by their own works and self-righteousness - they were the "chosen ones of God". They thought that by their own self-effort that they were righteous because of the life they lived. It is the natural belief system that was brought into the world through Adam and Eve eating from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

This is why Jesus said that their hearts needed to be cleansed from the inside first. Jesus does that when we receive Him.

    Acts 15:8-9 (NASB)
    8 "And God, who knows the heart, testified to them giving them the Holy Spirit, just as He also did to us;

9 and He made no distinction between us and them, cleansing their hearts by faith.

Now we are to renew our minds to the new creation in Christ.

Pharisees are those that think they need to create and maintain their own righteousness by what they do and not rely on Christ's work. This is why they opposed Christ and to this day the religious D.I.Y self-righteousness belief system rejects the work of Christ. They are trying to "do" what He has already accomplished and thus are rejecting the work of Christ.

Paul speaks of those that try to live by "what they do or don't do" and rely on establishing their own righteousness and thus do not submit to the righteousness of Christ.

This below in Romans 10 reflects what all self-righteousness belief systems are doing and thus are actually nullifying the grace and work of Christ in our lives.

    Romans 10:2-5 (NASB)
2 For I testify about them that they have a zeal for God, but not in accordance with knowledge.

3 For not knowing about God's righteousness and seeking to establish their own, they did not subject themselves to the righteousness of God.

4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.
5 For Moses writes that the man who practices the righteousness which is based on law shall live by that righteousness.

Paul then goes on to talk about the true righteousness which is of faith. Faith in what Christ ahs already done. Christ is the end for righteousness. Get this backwards and we create a Christian religion" that uses the words of Jesus, God, word of God...etc - but we are denying the power and grace of God from operating in our lives like it should because we are denying the work of Christ.

The righteousness of God in Christ is a gift - not something you do to achieve it. This is a major stumbling block to all D.I.Y. self-righteousness/holiness belief systems. They are eating from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil which is how this world's system still operates from - instead of the tree of Life which is Christ Himself.

Paul said that in the last days that people would not be anti-God - that they would be anti-Christ in their belief systems. There is a vast difference between being "for God" and for being joined as one with Christ depending on Him alone for all things that pertain to live and godliness.

The new man in Christ - the new creation that is created in righteousness and

holiness hears the heart voice of the Spirit and not an old head noise of the letter

of the word. The Pharisees knew "bible knowledge" but they did not

know God's heart and so they erred in really understanding what the

Paul tells us that the root cause of the Pharisee condition was political ambition.

    Romans 2:8 eritheia

    Meaning:
    electioneering or intriguing for office
apparently, in the NT a courting distinction, a desire to put one's self forward, a partisan and fractious spirit which does not disdain low arts
    partisanship, fractiousness

They were busy jockeying for power.

The Levites were given the rights of the firstborn, so they lived off tithes and did not need to work. It was given to them as a blessing, but they abused their privilege, and instead became gravy train swamp monsters.

What lead me to create the list in the op was realising over the months of discussion
what, point by point came out.

If you had created this list in front of me, and asked me could such a person know
Christ, I would have said, no, not a chance.

Unless Christ speaks to you heart you have nothing.

Now these individuals will say I am anti-Christ, I am insulting, slandering, evil, yet
all I am doing is preaching Gods word. In their mind, the evil is saying by obeying
Christ you are trying to justify yourself. So the log they wish to remove from their
fellow believers eye is trying to justify yourself before God.

They do not see this walk is the fulfillment of the cross and resurrection, so are condemning
the very work of God on this earth.

Jesus said this about such brotherly picking the log out of another,

How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.
    Matt 7:4-5

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.
Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.
    Matt 5:6,8

With a pure heart, with a desire to walk in righteousness, love, to wish the best
on others and know the victory Christs brings to our hearts, then you can correct
    and uplift people.

So many with sin in their hearts, unconfessed darkness distorting their words and
approach wish to correct and guide others, yet literally they are just teaching error.

And along with this error is condemnation, and condemnation to hell, based on their
    own false theology.

And to be honest Christs words are also true

Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces.
    Matt 7:6

Do not expect anything nice from them or acceptance, only a continual stream
of abuse, disdain, condescension, hatred, animosity and loathing.

But look at what the are condemning? Righteous living.
    Who condemns the righteous? Satan.

Jesus condemned sin, failure to be righteous, hypocracy, lack of love in the heart,
not obeying God or following in His ways and rejecting His messengers.

These men and women are blind to this reality, believing they are Gods chosen to
oppress and root out the self righteous and those who condemn sin as sin.

Quote of a hyper legalist :-
"I don't know How a person can look at the rules. And see how often he fails to live up to those rules. and see them as a delight, it boggles my mind to see yourself as a winner when the rules keep exposing how sinful you are. it is beyond me, "

The prison of self condemnation is anything about the self is sin.

Quote of a hyper legalist :-
"A man who confesses all his good deeds, How righteous he is, and how better he is then all the sinners, Is deluded, for he is the filthy dark sinner.. "

This is a delusional statement. A sinner is a sinner because he sins, and it is his
sins that needs dealing with. And a righteous person just loves, he does not take
pride in what he is, because this is Christs work in His heart.

What winds a sinner up most of all, is how dare anyone claim they can walk righteously,
that is just a lie and impossible, a superior condemning know it all. So speaks all sinners
of the world. But Jesus just says, know love and repent and accept my love in your heart.

    PeterJens,

You speak much of how much love you have, how humble you are, and how spiritual you are. In fact, you talk about yourself more than Christ, about others more than Christ. Then there is always the coupling that with your disdain for others, low view of others, slander of others and pointing your finger at them Luke 18:11 style.

Sir, you need some Philippians 2:3. Although you see yourself as spiritual, filled with love and humility, it simply isn't true my friend. Try some Proverbs 26:12. I pray the LORD would humble you. If you were humble your posts would reflect humility, not the pride and arrogance you convey with your ridicule and contempt of others.

I'm pretty sure when people call other people things like - you are demonic, satanic, delusional, haters of God's word, wanting to live in sin, hater of those that walk in righteousness....etc.

Unfortunately - I'm pretty sure that is slandering and insulting.

The Pharisees were good at this too in their malice and arrogance towards Jesus and any people that were blessed by Jesus. We can see this being done as an example to the guy Jesus healed from being born blind and their interaction with him.

I do not say I am humble or spiritual.

Have I sinned in some way? Is there something I have said that upsets you?

Maybe you think I am lying and am a fraud.

My friend no matter what you think about me, what is important, is what
Jesus is saying and the cross means to our hearts and lives.

And yes, if these points are true, we are called to bow and humble ourselves before
the King, just as much as I need to do like all who stand before Him.

If you end up attacking me, it suggests to me there is something in your life that
needs addressing. Because in truth we need to be overflowing in love, walk humbly
    and be one with God.

Or is your point this is not true? Please correct me, for I need correction from Gods

Of course I'm speaking the truth but your self-righteousness has blinded your eyes to the truth. PeterJens, it is you who are not telling the truth here.

There is no one in Scripture who has had an encounter with Christ that has held the view you hold concerning yourself. Seeing how you speak of self and hold contempt for others reminds me of Johns warning of not loving our brothers, and that puts you in his spelled-out predicament.

Notice you fail to address the points I am making, but want to label me as a

I agree that those are all traits that the self-righteous have and you are right - a Pharisee would call another one a Pharisee too and it is something we all need to be on guard about because religion is a subtle beast and it is deceitful.

We can become grace Pharisees too if we are not watchful over our belief system. We would all become psychologically humanistic messes without the Holy Spirit renewing our minds to the truths that Christ alone is our righteousness and as we behold the goodness/glory of the Lord.

Nothing more than trolling going on in this thread. Don't feed him.

People are offended that God is God.

You could create this list about christian groups from the first time they ever began.

The enemies of Christ have been doing this from the beginning.

The lie is shown when the people of God actually show love and victory over sin, so
actually this is righteousness for real, love that does not buckle and something that
is real salt and light that brings glory to God.

Yet here is dc saying the root evil

little wonder I have no respect for these people or their gospel. They make their
    allegiance very clear.

I will not speak for others but I personally have been called many times by the author of the OP - demonic, satanic, delusional, a lover of sinning, a hater of those that walk in righteousness. Anyone who has been on here for the last year and a half will testify to this.

Now, I just ignore this and don't directly interact with this type of behavior anymore but I bring this up so that the truth can come out so that people can be helped. I don't hold it against him and it is obvious - he can't help it. I forgive him but I just will not interact with this type of behavior until there is repentance.

We all need the Lord's grace to walk out of the things that have us in it's hold.

We all can get caught up in malice and bitterness and none of us are exempt from this possibility.

I too like preacher4truth pray that the Lord open Peter's eyes to see the righteousness that only comes to us by grace through faith in Christ. The fruit of this righteousness will then come and be legitimate fruit from the life of God in us.

Until then, we can post what we believe is the truth about the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ and if people get offended because they identify with what this gospel exposes in our lives - then that is a good thing.

The Lord will be faithful to all of us to give us what we individually need to walk in the freedom that Jesus bought for us with His blood and life.

The new man in Christ - the new creation that is created in righteousness and

holiness hears the heart voice of the Spirit and not an old head noise of the letter

of the word. The Pharisees knew "bible knowledge" but they did not

know God's heart and so they erred in really understanding what the

    scriptures were saying.

The Lord wants us to look through His eyes and to live from His heart towards

people, towards Him and towards ourselves as well.
