The sun and moon darkening is figurative language meaning pending divine judgment wrath is about to begin. We have 3 other instances in the OT of this same symbolism. I submit just one star falling from heaven to earth would destroy the planet. Multiple stars falling 4 different times would be overkill, don't you think. So, we better come up with a different solution. These things were signs.

The GT began on Passover, 9 Av (Apr 10) in AD 70. This was the day Titus arrived and locked down the city causing unimaginable death and conditions inside. The siege lasted 5 months (April, May, June, July, August). Immediately following these 5 months, Titus broke through and destroyed the temple and city.

The knowledgeable saints fled to Pella as Jesus instructed in Luke 21, "when they saw the armies." This was the Woman who fled to the wilderness to her prepared place. 1.1 million Jews died during the war with Rome. Only 98,000 survived.

The parousia (presence) of Christ and God appeared to execute their wrath on wicked Jerusalem thus breaking Bonds and Beauty. The covenant He had made with those people was broken on that day. The new covenant Christ established for all who would believe in Him. The whole world then entered the Church or Messianic Age which is where we are today.
I believe New covenant with Christ happen when Jesus die on the cross 40 years beforeAD 70 when the curtain of the temple split

As a Preterist I would have thought both pass as a rod of iron

As a figurative-ist - I think a light sabre would be better though.
LOL. Maybe I bring both. Don't want to be bringing a golf club to a gun fight. Might take my 12 gauge along too in case they are in the process of being raptured when they attack. I better stop, I love my disillusioned pre-tribbers.

At least I don't have to prep like the post trib futurists. If America gets wiped out by the North Koreans tomorrow I'll immediately be in heaven and get to avoid my hip replacement set for Friday. Then I expect to meet all my American pre-tribber friends in heaven and we can watch to see how all this plays out together. I expect a lot of crow eating. (This is figurative talk for those who think they will literally eat crows).

The gathering of the church (rapture) = The Lord descends from heaven and the dead in Christ rise first. Immediately following that, the living in Christ are transformed into their immortal and glorified bodies. This event must take place prior to the first seal being opened and that because it initiates the wrath of God, which believers are not appointed to suffer.

The Second Coming = The Lord's return to the earth at the end of the seven years to end the age and establish His millennial kingdom.

Two separate events.

By the way, you confuse arrogance for confidence. I am confident in the truth of God's word and therefore contend, correct and rebuke for the truth of His word.
Why does this have to happen before the first seal. What Scripture tells you that? Why can't God protect His people from His wrath after the first seal is open? God poured out His wrath when He flooded the earth. Noah was there hid in the ark; why can't Christians be there hid in Christ especially when Jesus said it will be like in the days of Noah? Even during the Passover God poured out His wrath, but the children of Israel were there protected from God's wrath on the wicked. Show Scriptural support for your claim.

That was the start of the transition between ages. Zec 11 gives the official breaking of the covenant at the destruction of Jerusalem. The burning of the Temple ended the Law. So, Christ redeemed us at the Cross in 30 AD and ended the Law in 70 AD. They had another 40 years in the wilderness (to repent), so to speak.

The 1st seal is Christ going forth at the triumphal entry... this is proven from scipture, this is not up to interpretation.

The law ended when Jesus fulfilled the law... "It is FINISHED".

Jonah was spewed from the belly of the beast onto land and then Nineveh had 40 days to repent.

The apostle Paul said that won't happen until the man of sin is revealed 2 Thes. 2 and Jesus said after the tribulation we'll see Him coming in the clouds. Mat. 24 There will be no secret thief like rapture, there is no Scriptural support for it. Why do you believe this when you have to go contrary to Scripture or the plain word to do it?

The curse of the Law is a serpent
Jesus became the curse for us.

Numbers 21:8

When you kill a snake by decapitation, the head remains alive a little while longer.....

[SUP]4 [/SUP]Thus says the Lord my God, “Feed the flock for slaughter, [SUP]5 [/SUP]whose owners slaughter them and feel no guilt; those who sell them say, ‘Blessed be the Lord, for I am rich’; and their shepherds do not pity them. [SUP]6 [/SUP]For I will no longer pity the inhabitants of the land,” says the Lord. “But indeed I will give everyone into his neighbor’s hand and into the hand of his king. They shall attack the land, and I will not deliver them from their hand.”

[SUP]7 [/SUP]So I fed the flock for slaughter, in particular the poor of the flock.[SUP][/SUP] I took for myself two staffs: the one I called Beauty,[SUP][/SUP] and the other I called Bonds;[SUP][/SUP] and I fed the flock. [SUP]8 [/SUP]I dismissed the three shepherds in one month. My soul loathed them, and their soul also abhorred me. [SUP]9 [/SUP]Then I said, “I will not feed you. Let what is dying die, and what is perishing perish. Let those that are left eat each other’s flesh.” [SUP]10 [/SUP]And I took my staff, Beauty, and cut it in two, that I might break the covenant which I had made with all the peoples. [SUP]11 [/SUP]So it was broken on that day.

BEAUTY was the Law covenant as we see here:

[SUP]2 [/SUP]And you shall make holy garments for Aaron your brother, for glory and for beauty.

Bonds was the brotherhood between Israel and Judah as we see here:

[SUP]14 [/SUP]Then I cut in two my other staff, Bonds, that I might break the brotherhood between Judah and Israel.

After 70 AD, there were no more tribes and no more two nations. Yes, the veil was rent. But they must have sowed it back up (because Titus cut it again) and kept up their sacrifices even though God would no longer acknowledge them. The flock were slaughtered by their own leaders, especially the poor of the flock (3rd seal). The three shepherds were Eleazar, and the tyrants Simon and John. They were dispatched in one month (taken away) by Titus. These three shepherds slaughtered more of their people during their internal civil war than the Romans.

Jesus appeared to the disciples for 40 days and then ascended.

[FONT=&quot]3 So Jonah (Jesus) arose, and went unto Nineveh, (Jerusalem) according to the word of the Lord. Now Nineveh was an exceeding great city of three days' journey.(3 year ministry) [/FONT]
[FONT=&quot]4 And Jonah began to enter into the city a day's journey, and he cried, and said, Yet forty days, (40 years from start of ministry AD30) and Nineveh shall be overthrown.(AD70)[/FONT]
[FONT=&quot]5 So the people of Nineveh believed God, and proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them even to the least of them.[/FONT]

This is all true but what about:
1 The Church is returning with Christ on horses wearing white linen @ Rev 19 BEFORE the "first resurrection" of Rev 20.

2 Who will populate the millennium in the post-trib system?

It all happened, just as Paul said it would, just as Jesus said it would. Sorry you missed it. But you can read about it if you want.

Israel is the Church.

Judah - non-believing - was cut off from the Church.

Good spot on the 3 worthless shepherds. I need to make a note of that!
