I am starting reading this book by Laura story "when God doesn't fix it" and wanted to discuss some of the things she says.

Maybe examine if it's biblically based and how it can help us live our lives for God's glory.

What are your thoughts?

I watched the first session. I think it is biblically sound. There is a corrupt world and stuff does happen in this life - not caused by God Himself. I heard a guy years ago say "If you think you are going to float through life on a flowery bed of ease and not have assaults on you - you are not in this world".

I believe in what she talked about in saying that she thought if she did all these good things then God would do good things to her. This is a product of the working of the Law and not of Christ. This fundamental error can cause lot's of people to be ship-wrecked in their faith as far as experiencing the life of God in Christ while on this earth.

Christ Himself said that in this world we will have tribulation. We have 3 enemies -

1) the world ( with it's system of thinking of which the church world accepts too - as in this "doing of good things brings the blessing of God" )

2 the flesh and 3) the devil and Jesus has defeated all three.

Where the rubber meets the road is - how do we walk this out. Perhaps in the next session she talks about this. So far it seems biblically sound to me.

I really like her songs.

Here are some lyrics:

Indescribable
Chris Tomlin
Lyrics
From the highest of heights to the depths of the sea
Creation revealing Your majesty
From the colors of fall to the fragrance of spring
Every creature unique in the song that it sings
All exclaiming
Indescribable, uncontainable,
You placed the stars in the sky and You know them by name.
You are amazing God
All powerful, untameable,
Awestruck we fall to our knees as we humbly proclaim
You are amazing God
Who has told every lightning bolt where it should go
Or seen heavenly storehouses laden with snow
Who imagined the sun and gives source to its light
Yet conceals it to bring us the coolness of night
None can fathom
Indescribable, uncontainable,
You placed the stars in the sky and You know them by name
You are amazing God
All powerful, untameable,
Awestruck we fall to our knees as we humbly proclaim
You are amazing God
You are amazing God
Indescribable, uncontainable,
You placed the stars in the sky and You know them by name.
You are amazing God
All powerful, untameable,
Awestruck we fall to our knees as we humbly proclaim
You are amazing God
Indescribable, uncontainable,
You placed the stars in the sky and You know them by name.
You are amazing God
Incomparable, unchangeable
You see the depths of my heart and You love me the same
You are amazing God
You are amazing God

Also one of my favorite songs is called "Blessings"

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=1CSVqHcdhXQ

Blessings
Laura Story

We pray for blessings
We pray for peace
Comfort for family, protection while we sleep
We pray for healing, for prosperity
We pray for Your mighty hand to ease our suffering
All the while, You hear each spoken need
Yet love is way too much to give us lesser things

'Cause what if your blessings come through raindrops
What if Your healing comes through tears
What if a thousand sleepless nights are what it takes to know You're near
What if trials of this life are Your mercies in disguise

We pray for wisdom
Your voice to hear
We cry in anger when we cannot feel You near
We doubt your goodness, we doubt your love
As if every promise from Your Word is not enough
All the while, You hear each desperate plea
And long that we'd have faith to believe

When friends betray us
When darkness seems to win
We know that pain reminds this heart
That this is not our home

What if my greatest disappointments
Or the aching of this life
Is the revealing of a greater thirst this world can't satisfy
What if trials of this life
The rain, the storms, the hardest nights
Are your mercies in disguise

oh oh...she said that "demonically inspired word - prosperity".......just kidding.

I love the truth in her songs. It's a ministry from the Lord.

Psalm 35:27 is still true when seen from the Lord's life and purpose in us.

I can post quotes from the book that I like...

Page 8

"Before Martin and I got engaged, a spiritual mentor wisely told me 'if you tell Martin you love him and that you want to spend the rest of your life with him, you have to be prepared to see it through even if the fluffy feelings disappear, because marriage isn't just about fluffy feelings."

She talks about her husband falling asleep, standing her up for dates and feeling embrassed because he would fall asleep in service, etc. Some "helpful" people suggested he had a mental illness, or was just lazy...

They found out he had a brain tumor later....back to reading.,

If we as Believers did not have trials and tribulations in our lives, we will take God for granted. Trials and tribulations cause you to draw near to God because God is speaking. All faith is tested, and great faith must be tested greatly.

There is a Bible verse that says we learn patience by having our faith tested by trials and tribulation

This is a good question we should all ask ourselves....

"Am I going to let my circumstances determine my view of God, or am I going to let God determine how I view my circumstances?"

Mighty To Save by Laura Story

Everyone needs compassion
Love that's never failing
Let mercy fall on me
Everyone needs forgiveness
The kindness of a Savior
The hope of nations

Savior
He can move the mountains
My God is mighty to save
He is mighty to save
Forever
Author of salvation
He rose and conquered the grave
Jesus conquered the grave

Take me as you find me
All my fears and failures
Fill my life again
I give my life to follow
Everything that I believe in
Now I surrender
Yes I surrender

Savior
He can move the mountains
My God is mighty to save
He is mighty to save
Forever
Author of salvation
He rose and conquered the grave
Jesus conquered the grave

Shine your light and let the whole world see
We're singing
For the glory of the risen King
Jesus,
Shine your light and let the whole world see
We're singing
For the glory of the risen King

Savior
He can move the mountains
My God is mighty to save
He is mighty save
Forever
Author of salvation
He rose and conquered the grave
Jesus conquered the grave

You're my Savior
You can move the mountains
God You are mighty to save
You are mighty to save
Forever
Author of salvation
You rose and conquered the grave
Yes you conquered the grave

You are mighty to save

I thought she was talking about Dr. Laura, shows you how out of touch I am. That was a worship song, what I heard today, wasn't worship or praise. It was about what we get from God and what we (think) do for God, not exactly worship or praise of the Lord. Whatever happened to the Gospel of Grace. Where in utter adoration we worshipped God for His great attributes and His saving grace, that was all done for us.

A couple of weeks ago we went to visit my daughters old church and the song were just that songs, no worship or praise. I was in the mud, but now I'm at the river, the river, the river, out of the mud, the mud, the mud. Washed by the river, the river, the river, out of the mud, the mud, the mud.

That sounds more like a drunken accident by a river, that someone fell in some mud and washed it off at the river, no mention of God, or salvation. I was surprised went my daughter asked me if I wanted to leave, I said yes and on the way to the car, she told me that she did not get anything out of the service and is glad that she's getting more teaching now.

When God doesn't fix it He will join you in it. Grace (Jesus) can turn your scares to stars.

Until the time came to fulfill his dreams,[SUP][a][/SUP]
the Lord tested Joseph’s character. Psalm 105:19 NLT

...but the LORD was with Joseph!

What are your thoughts?
Never heard of her, but God chose not to take away Paul's "thorn" in his flesh. Life is a test. The Potter cannot make His creation unless He applies pressure in the right spots. And sometimes He decides it's enough pressure in that area, and sometimes He decides that area needs even more pressure.

As for me, with all my pressures, I'm still a work in progress lol.
