Isn't that wonderful Good News?

And, repentance isn't necessary, so don't pay attention to the whole counsel of God where Scripture shows its necessity! (well, according to Bob Wilkins it isn't necessary!)

The below is what happens when one believes the false truncated gospel of Free Grace Theology. (Keep in mind FGT is a system of theology, not a statement of what Grace is). FGT teaches that no matter how the person lives, that as long as they've "believed" it's all good. So...party up, dope up, drink up, 1 Corinthians 6:9ff, Ephesians 5:5, Galatians 5:19ff do NOT matter as long as you've "believed"!

I think it depends on what a person believes repentance actually is.

Let's look at it through what scripture has to say about repentance ( changing our mind - the way we think ) concerning preaching the gospel. I know we have been taught differently through our religious upbringing and beliefs handed down to us. Let's let God's word speak life to us.

Peter preached the gospel of the grace of Christ. to Cornelius
..no word used for repentence was said

Acts 10:43-44 (NASB)
[SUP]43 [/SUP] "Of Him all the prophets bear witness that through His name everyone who believes in Him receives forgiveness of sins."

[SUP]44 [/SUP] While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who were listening to the message.

They were not told to "repent" here.

I love how the Holy Spirit "falls upon " them as soon as they hear about the forgiveness of sins proclaimed to them because of Christ!

Peter got in trouble with the Jewish Christians when he went back because he went into a gentile's house and preached the gospel to them...he says in Acts 11:17,18

Acts 11:17-18 (NASB)
[SUP]17 [/SUP] "Therefore if God gave to them the same gift as He gave to us also after believing in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I that I could stand in God's way?"

[SUP]18 [/SUP] When they heard this, they quieted down and glorified God, saying, "Well then, God has granted to the Gentiles also the repentance that leads to life."

What was there repentance even though the word "repent" was not used?...they changed their mind toward God and had faith in Jesus and in His complete forgiveness of sins. This is the gospel message.

Notice that
it was God that granted them repentance.

New Covenant repentance is not something we conjure up on our own nor is it a work we produce.

2 Tim 2:24-25 says that God may grant them repentance so that they may know the truth. God grants the repentance..not a work we do on our own.

Paul preached the gospel of grace here in the only recorded time in scripture.

Acts 13:38-39 (NASB)
[SUP]38 [/SUP] "Therefore let it be known to you, brethren, that through Him forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you,

[SUP]39 [/SUP] and through Him everyone who believes is freed from all things, from which you could not be freed through the Law of Moses.

Again ..no telling them to "repent" was voiced here either by Paul...but Paul did tell them .."
urged them to continue in the grace of God"

Both of the examples we have of New Covenant preaching about the gospel of grace had NO words of telling people to repent.

These clearly show that "repentance " was not told to them and yet they did repent to believe on Christ which is what real repentance is in the New Covenant.

So, repentance does not mean "turn from sin '..it means change your mind ( change your way of thinking and rely on God only for things dealing with your life) and turn to God and believe in Jesus and what He has already done.

I suppose there would be an argument that turning from unbelief in Christ's work on the cross could be construed as "turning from sin" if we wanted to use that definition.

Yes - this fruit of already repented to believe in Christ effects changes in us and it does include how we view sinning in all it's forms from living the homosexual lifestyle to exhibiting malice and the slandering of others in the body of Christ.

There is a change after we come to Christ and His life in us transforms us. This is where we see the "fruit" of repentance. Fruit is not the "root" of repentance.

Fruit of an exchanged life comes after we have "repented " - changed our thinking to rely on Christ's work only for salvation.

We all need to repent every day as we hear the beauty of our Lord proclaimed!

Brethern ...I urge you to believe in the awesome greatness and splendor of our Lord's magnificent finished work on our behalf!

I agree and I didn't get that the man in the video was encouraging for people to sin all they want. I thought he was saying that it is destructive to people which it is. He talks around the 2:53 mark on about repentance is for living a good life and walking a life that is well lived.

From living a homosexual lifestyle to exhibiting malice and the slandering of others in the body of Christ. They are all in the same lists.

Us religious folks like to expose the sins of others that "we don't do" and these will send people to hell - but not the ones we do...

Encouraging people to live in sin is not an appropriate response.
Its not a good response but people easily can abuse it.

A good example of what repentance looks like in a believer is what King David did after realization of how far he walked away from God when he committed murder.

Let's what the bible says about this
Luke 13:3 I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish.
Acts 3:19 Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord,
Revelation 2:21 I have given her time to repent of her immorality, but she is unwilling
Romans 2:4 Or do you disregard the riches of His kindness, tolerance, and patience, not realizing that God's kindness leads you to repentance?

No words to speak for me, I don't need to.

David's repentance was for more than murder...

Taking the book of John, divorcing it from the whole counsel of God, and, taking "believer" and divorcing it from the whole counsel of God is to arrive at the false gospel of FGT.

No repentance = no salvation.

That, and Bob Wilkins distorts repentance as do those of the WoF prosperity false gospel (as seen in this thread by one proponents errant definition)

In fact neither FGT/WoF of the prosperity false gospel preach repentance, they preach covetousness, selfishness, materialism. So, that being said, each of those false gospels, and the peddlers thereof are in the same sinking ship.

Personally I believe in repentance but I can also see the angle that this guy in the video is talking about however to leave it at that without anything else being said can be mis-represented for sure. Sometimes when we hear just the "part" of something - it's not good and can be mis-leading.

Repentance in the New Covenant which is all based on Christ's finished work on the cross and resurrection means to change our mind to stop relying on ourselves and our thinking and turn to God. Stop living our own life with our own thinking and come to Christ and let His life live through and in you. Receive all that Jesus did for us in His finished work.

We should be repenting ( changing how we think towards something ) constantly as we see the Lord's true nature, love and grace revealed to and in us.

There will always be "fruits" of having a changed mind ( having repented ) to God but the "fruit" is not the repentance within itself. True repentance is the "root" before the "fruit" comes.

The fruit will manifest itself in the form of having a changed heart because we are a new creation in Christ.

This will also show in behavior as the life of Christ transforms our outward life to reflect what has already happened in our inner man - that new creation in Christ.

Transformation ( which is a fruit of repentance ) is really the emerging new man that is in Christ being manifested in our bodies while we are here on this earth.

This transformation of what already is in us in Christ in our new creation ( It is not called a "new evolution" ) can be seen by man as our minds get renewed to the truth of Christ's work for us. Rom. 12:2

We are simply "being" who we already are when we "put on Christ".

The new man in Christ is like the invisible man - when he put clothes on, people could then see him. We put on Christ and people see the new man in Christ manifested and God gets glorified.

This all happens by grace through faith in what Christ has done and we participate in it with Him for it is God who is at work in us both to will and to do of His good pleasure. He will be faithful to us. Phil. 2:13

Your view of repentance is false.

but I can also see the angle that this guy in the video is talking about however to leave it at that without anything else being said can be mis-represented for sure.
You don't know FGT, and no one is misrepresenting his position or that of GES.
