I have been talking about word of faith and works of faith for a while now, and I have found that no one listens because there is no proof or evidence that it does work and that it is truth. Because I have proven these messages scripturally with no one being able to give a single scripture stating contrary, and yet still persist in their denial and hate message.
So rather than going to a hospital to pray for the sick, as some have challenged me to do in mockery, I decided it would be better to state what I intend to do through God's word, before it manifests in the natural.
Why the lottery?
Why not?
Some of the reasons are because it goes against the anti-prosperity message.
Another reason is because no one is listening, nor will they believe, until they SEE it done FIRST.
It also goes against those teaching against WoF, what the will of God is, and faith by works.
It goes against those teaching against name it claim it, and blab it grab it.
It goes against the Christian ethics message, taught by the established denominational churches. To them it is a sin.
It goes against the anti-faith movement by the same said churches.
It is based on my faith and the condition of my heart and mine alone, and not that of others.
It is to prove that we can be the initiators of works of faith and be lead by the Spirit of God after we initiate the work.
The main reasons are to prove the promises of God to be truth as they are written, and to glorify the Father through Jesus and Jesus through the word or promises of God.
In all honesty, I have been refraining from going for this, mainly because of what I have to do to cause it to manifest in the natural. I live a comfy life and to go for this would mean that I would have to move out of my comfort zone and way of life. Something I'm not fond of doing.
What I asked God for is, to win the Powerball lottery on Saturday. And when I say Saturday, I mean, a Saturday. And so I'm stating it on this forum before it manifests itself to prove God's word to be truth, as I understand it.
I'm going to be seeking God, expecting Him to lead me, while waiting on Him. The rest is up to God and on His timing. The only thing I can physically control is the day I buy a ticket. Which means the actual work will be done by the word of God itself.
And as far as I'm concerned, it has already been given to me, and is therefore done, according to the word of God.

I have no horse in this race either, but I wonder... would winning the lottery convince anyone? Would people not still (rightly) hold to Scripture (as they understand it), for or against?

Personally, if I were against WoF, I would dismiss such a win as coincidence, and if I were for it, I'd take it as confirmation of what I believed anyway. Given that I am neither, I'd probably just note the win and pray that the robbers don't find you before you drop off the planet.

Just my $0.015 or so, with currency exchange being what it is. :)

If I am understanding this post correctly, you plan on winning the lottery and becoming a multimillionaire while rejecting that you can heal people in hospitals because of these poor souls lack of faith? This is such a wretched and evil state of mind.

If you buy one lottery ticket,
win several hundred million,
then fly everyone on cc to your house,
on private jets,
to see everything with our own eyes...

You will certainly have my undivided attention.

If you win the lottery, it will prove nothing but random chance. It will also prove that you thought gambling is the way God provides. It will also prove that you are greedy beyond measure, because your faith is based on finances, rather than on the finished work of Christ on the cross.

There is absolutely no exegetical proof for the heresy of the Word Faith movement. You have been sucked into a vortex. But, for fun, let's set up another scenerio.

Everyone on CC buys a lottery ticket. Some have to give up a meal or two, to buy in, but hey, if God wants them to win the lottery, it is all worth it, right?

So, everyone on CC has a ticket. The ticket is drawn, and TA DA!! No one from CC wins. In fact, we could extend the experiment out for a year, and no one would win the big ticket. In spite of all the protestation, that they would help the poor, and share it with other CC members.

Now, maybe we didn't pray enough. So we all pray for our ticket to be drawn. This is called "testing God."

"Then the devil took him to the holy city and set him on the pinnacle of the temple and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, for it is written, “‘He will command his angels concerning you,’ and “‘On their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone.’” Jesus said to him, “Again it is written, ‘You shall not put the Lord your God to the test.’” Matt. 4:5-7

So you would dare to test God, even though not even Jesus did that?

But to continue with this ridiculous tale, suppose someone (not the OP) actually wins a big money prize. I guess that means their faith is bigger than ours? I guess they are more spiritual than the rest of us? I guess for some reason God is only blessing that person, and the rest of us are out in the cold?

God's plan to provide for us NEVER included playing the lottery. I remember when the first lottery came out in Canada, (1982-83) a friend and a man who eventually became Word Faith, bought some tickets. He was already very well to do, because he was a hard working contractor and business man. What I remember him distinctly saying, was that he was going to set aside some of that money to give to God, when he won. Of course, he did not win, someone from eastern Canada won, because that is where the most tickets were sold.

Anyway, this man went on to evangelise and win people to Christ (awesome!) Then, he ran off with another woman than his wife, and abandoned his children. She took him for all he was worth, which was quite a lot. (Well, half of what he was worth, which is the law in Canada.) Then, the economy tanked, and he lost all his houses, hotels and had to declare bankruptcy. The last time we saw him, he had to move to Fort McMurray to start all over. He married the woman he ran away with, but that fell apart. He was staying at our house, came home drunk after a night of ....... you guessed it, gambling!

His wife later died of breast cancer, when she refused treatement because she claimed she was healed. Those two had enormous potential to serve God. But wordly lusts took over their lives, bankrupted the husband, and killed the wife.

So much for believing in the Health and Wealth Gospel! Oh, and do beware! Gambling is addictive, and it ruins lives. I hope you can stop at one ticket, and stop testing God to have you win the lottery. And do try working and not spending money. It is a sure fire way to be comfortable in your old age!

Not that the Word of God is EVER enough for the idolatry of WoF/Prosperity lies:

But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, into a snare, into many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. 1 Timothy 6:9.

...and they still follow the false gospel...and fight against those who expose the false teachers.

Unreal.

I disagree.
:)

I think normally, it would prove random chance.

But I'm not feeling random chance here.

I think if someone is trying to prove the existence of extraordinarily bad and dangerous doctrine, by asking God for an incredulous miracle... I would venture there is a 100% chance it will fail.

I think it would prove he has his "reward". He can have it.

I'm reminded of a time when I was a child of 7. I decided to test the power of prayer by earnestly and believingly praying for a large mountain of candy to appear in the back yard. Since I have matured in faith I realize that prayer is not a power that God has given us to twist His arm, but a privilege he extends to us to communicate with Him about all our hopes, dreams, trials, pains, and both large and small concerns. Having spoken with Him, we can trust Him to take the appropriate action within His own nature and out of His love for us.

Jesus answered, "A wicked and adulterous generation asks for a sign!
But none will be given it except the sign of the prophet Jonah."

Heavenly Father, Your Word in Isaiah 55:9, says, “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts.”

In response to Your Word I say, “I thank You for
being above me and knowing what is best for me.”

In this life, we are all searching for our purpose and asking for Your will to be done. But let us not be blindsided and naive to think that as we ask, so we are ready for it to be revealed and respond accordingly.

I pray that as each of us comes to a point in our lives where we dare to ask You to reveal Your will for us, You would put us in a place of acceptance of what You reveal to us. It may not be what we want, but it will surely be what we need in order to live a life fully invested in You.

When fear attempts to consume us, be the destroyer of the fear by Your perfect love for we know it casts out all fear. When You see that we are tempted to turn back and ignore Your will, chasten our spirits and helps us to see that You only want the best for us.

Help us to realize that anything You bring into our lives and anything You reveal to us is for our good. Give us a spirit of acceptance and a heart open to Your move in our lives.

Most of all Lord, let us never get so caught up in seeking You out for a revelation that we forget to seek You, for You. Let us always desire to be with You above all things. Seeking Your kingdom first and letting everything else be added afterwords. Letting Your love surround us and cast out any fear or doubts.

Help us to live in love with You, accept Your will for our lives, and give us the proper response to Your revelation. In Jesus’ Name we pray, Amen.

Hmmm this makes me want to play a ticket now too. Tell me before you go out and buy a ticket and I will buy one too and I will play whatsoever numbers as you list, or if you just have the clerk randomly select the numbers then I shall do likewise. I will praise God either way win or lose, but I do hope you win.

If you will not win in the lottery, you will send me a million dollars from your own savings and you will never promote the WoF again, ok? :)

What about the stock market instead of the lottery?

What is the chance that a person could buy $2000 worth of stock that would be worth $ 3,000,000 in just over 6 months.

While we have all heard of stocks which had a share price that increased over years to produce their owners a hefty profit, but 200 days I would be interested in seeing one if anyone can find one. So considering 1 Peter 3:15 8/03/2009 to 3/01/2010

So would would winning the Powerball jackpot prove WoF, not really but it would tend to prove Luke 12:21 So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.
