My comments on the evidence of the4 Baptism of the Holy Spirit should not be meant to be taken that I do not believe in the gift of tongues with interpretation or personal private prayer language tongues. I believe in both and have used my own tongues to edify myself and been used to give a message in tongues, that myself, or another interpreted for the edification of the body.

I disagree on what the evidence of the Baptism of the Holy Spirit is. Jesus said we would be given power when the Holy Spirit came upon us, not tongues.

How do you kill a dead man over and over? You are syaing that if we SIN Jesus needs to get back on the cross and re-die again are you not?
I am saying in recognition of the fact I was also put to death on the Cross of Christ, "I have been crucified with Christ...."

...And thus, because my flesh is with me the rest of my life, I put to death the things of the flesh and live by His Spirit controlling my spirit, which controls my soul, which in turn controls my body unto righteousness.; thru the Lordship of Jesus thru the transforming power of the Holy Spirit this is the position of being in Christ. This is the only platform my New Man will thrive, and not be returned to sinning; contrary to my Old Man who is still availed to me by choice, and which, in the flesh, still has the disposition of sin, my New placement in Christ thrives with life and truth. Enslaved by Jesus, and bought at a price, ...I no longer live, but it is Christ who lives in me to do thru my body that which He wills for me to accomplish in Him thru obedience.. Thus, it's not re-killing myself over and over, but continuing to die to the right to yourself, over and over as we are tempted or tested.. Resolving in my Character and transformed thinking that any good thing I become is Christ in me - period. Praise God! And that if I am in Him He will have me do His will, thru my actual experiences.

Sin separates us from God that is the nature of sin. But If we confess and turn from our evil ways He is just and will forgive us our sins, and cleanse us from all unrighteousness once more.

If we believe our flesh is with us the rest of our life...well, yes, we will struggle with it.

But, if you believe what God says in His Word...it is circumcised from us...we are free. We are free...but our minds have to be renewed in His Word....which means believe the resurrection life that Jesus has bought for us.

We are dead to sin...and alive to God. Once we get to this plateau of faith? Life is easier.

I agree...the understanding of the circumcision of the flesh and the heart of the new man in Christ is vital to walking free and walking by the spirit so that we don't fulfill the lusts of the flesh to do "it's" desires. The flesh is not the real us. It is not our identity. Our true identity is the new creation in Christ.

It is "by the spirit" that we to death the deeds of the body. Sometimes we can get this backwards and think - "If I stop doing something - then I will be walking by the spirit".

It is the Holy Spirit that transforms us as we behold the glory/goodness of the Lord as in a mirror and we participate in this with Him. 2 Cor. 3:17-18 ; Phil. 2:13

If anyone be in Christ - he is a new creation, old things have passed away - "Behold" ( which means to see, to perceive , to look at ) new things have come and all these things are of God's doing.

We behold Christ in our inner man and we are transformed by His life.

The old man is still around, only because you chose him to be around.
No he's always around and unless I chose Christ, by picking up my cross daily and following Him thru obedience, God will not over-rule my choice not to follow him, and the old condition of Original sin will begin to have influence and take over in time again. I do chose The New Man daily, but if I didn't recognize it was daily, I would not move onward and upward, I would stagnate and thwart God's intentions in me, for as I would sin, I would immediately have it separating me from God's power within me. The old man is still around you despite you having faith in God, however, it is not faith to accept an untruth, it is faith to trust that God says it is so, and He will give us His empowerment to overcome all things of the flesh by way of His death and ours on the Cross.

If your faith isn't practical in aligning your will to His, thru God's truths you cannot please God. The Old man isn't gone or you would be in heaven, it is being put to death by God's power and grace, you must place it in dormancy based on the power of the Cross, and the power of His Resurrection, or you will not have victories over sins. The real victory of Christ in you, will not be your own. Obedience is not a good idea, its apart of your New Man's existence in every second of the day.

I am choosing to go toward God. And He has set me up in innocence and power to do as He wills. The choice to serve two masters will never be squelched, and the power to serve God in the flesh or in our spirit thru His, is also a choice He has given us. It is well with my spirit, for I take it upon myself to do as He says.

"If a man cannot prove his religion in the valley, it is not worth anything."

{Shade of His Hand, 1200 L}.

What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin so that grace may increase? [SUP]2 [/SUP]May it never be! How shall we who died to sin still live in it? [SUP]3 [/SUP]Or do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus have been baptized into His death? [SUP]4 [/SUP]Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life. [SUP]5 [/SUP]For if we have become united with Him in the likeness of His death, certainly we shall also be in the likeness of His resurrection, [SUP]6 [/SUP]knowing this, that our old self was crucified with Him, in order that our body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be slaves to sin; [SUP]7 [/SUP]for he who has died is freed from sin. [SUP]8 [/SUP]Now if we have died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him, [SUP]9 [/SUP]knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, is never to die again; death no longer is master over Him. [SUP]10 [/SUP]For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God. [SUP]11 [/SUP]Even so consider yourselves to be dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus.
[SUP]12 [/SUP]Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its lusts, [SUP]13 [/SUP]and do not go on presenting the members of your body to sin as instruments of unrighteousness; but present yourselves to God as those alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God. [SUP]14 [/SUP]For sin shall not be master over you, for you are not under law but under grace.
[SUP]15 [/SUP]What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? May it never be! [SUP]16 [/SUP]Do you not know that when you present yourselves to someone as slaves for obedience, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin resulting in death, or of obedience resulting in righteousness? [SUP]17 [/SUP]But thanks be to God that though you were slaves of sin, you became obedient from the heart to that form of teaching to which you were committed, [SUP]18 [/SUP]and having been freed from sin, you became slaves of righteousness. [SUP]19 [/SUP]I am speaking in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh. For just as you presented your members as slaves to impurity and to lawlessness, resulting in further lawlessness, so now present your members as slaves to righteousness, resulting in sanctification.
[SUP]20 [/SUP]For when you were slaves of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness. [SUP]21 [/SUP]Therefore what benefit were you then deriving from the things of which you are now ashamed? For the outcome of those things is death. [SUP]22 [/SUP]But now having been freed from sin and enslaved to God, you derive your benefit, resulting in sanctification, and the outcome, eternal life. [SUP]23 [/SUP]For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Rom 7:24 Miserable son of man am I! who will deliver me from this body of death?

Rom 7:25
I give thanks to Aloha! (it is) by the hand of our Lord Jeshu Meshiha. Now then, I in my mind am the servant of the law of Aloha, but in my flesh* I am the servant of the law of sin. [* Compare verse 13 with Joh 3:6, 7.]

~
Gal 4:6 And because you are sons, Aloha hath sent the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, who crieth, Father, our Father.

Gal 4:7 Therefore you are not servants, but sons; and if sons, heirs also of Aloha, through Jeshu Meshiha.

you are thinking in physical/carnal terms and not spiritual terms, you are so close my friend, you will get there soon, because we have the mind of Christ, not the carnal mind

In Romans 7, was Paul talking about his life before or after Jesus?

Why be so caught up in actions of self? Isn't Jesus and His works enough?

And doesn't this say whether we fall or stand...we are His?

~Rom 14:4 Who art thou that judgest a servant who is not thine? who, if he stand, unto his Lord he standeth, and if he fall, falleth unto his Lord. But standing, he standeth; for there is power in the hands of his Lord to make him stand.

Paul came to a conclusion after the struggle for understanding. Just as we all do.

Acts says he spent 14 years without even going to the Apostles...We think he started preaching right after he received revelation. Not so according to Acts.

I made two mistakes there. It was three years before Paul met with the Apostles other than Peter. And it's not found in Acts...but in Galatians.

my bad..

I posted this on another thread but it applies here too. It addresses the fear we believers have when we begin to enter into this realm of faith as the thinkers that most of us are. We don't want to have the wool put over our eyes. We don't want to be made fools of or worse, we don't ever want to allow the devil entrance into our person. The other poster asked why we didn't allow the gift of tongues when we allowed the other gifts.

[FONT=&quot]I think it's because us humans ruin every thing we get our minds and hands on. I had to first have a willingness to learn to even approach this subject because we were so taught to steer clear of this tongues stuff. I began to seek the gift of tongues when Jesus brought miracles into my life.

It came in the form of many realizations (revelations) in the day that the love of God in Christ is real and allowed me to move forward in confidence not fear. That He can be trusted with my life when I let go of the controls and let Him do the leading. This isn't as easy for us humans as it sounds.

If your mind has been depended on and you learned how to think a certain way., how can you change? How do we defend ourselves or conduct ourselves except by the things learned over the course of our lives? As a Christian I did the daily maneuvering and hoped that God would be pleased to give success. The difference from then to now after being baptized in the Holy Spirit is now I know He is pleased and will give success. And that being confident of this very thing., that He that has begun a good work in you will perform it till the day of Jesus Christ. He is real and has a real interest in each one of us individually so much so that it is Him who will perform this in and through us should we dare to allow Him access to the controls.

Fear is a spirit. But God has not given us the spirit of fear... but of power and love and a sound mind. The Holy Spirit leads us into good things not evil all the days of our lives. He is to be trusted but we have to as Christians dare to believe that we are really loved so much so that we are His. Sealed and encouraged to be lead by the Spirit. Not fear Him and the unknown. Because what was once unknown to us can be known by the Holy Spirit showing us.[/FONT]

For crying out loud folks, our flesh nature is not done away with and gone, it is still a part of our being while in this flesh body. If our flesh nature were gone then we would be like the Holy angles of God, hasn't anyone noticed that Christians are not like the Holy angels of God? When Paul said that our old self was crucified with Christ in order that our body of sin might be done away with, Paul was writing in metaphoric form in order to get the Christians to practice turning from the things of the flesh nature and turning to God. Was your physical body crucified with Christ? NO, so it is a metaphor. Here is the key line, CONSIDER yourselves to be dead to sin. Paul was describing a correct attitude of the mind by using metaphor, he was not asserting that the flesh nature of a Christian disappears when they are saved. Also, I cannot imagine any Christian who actually believes that they have no problem with their flesh nature.

I agree.

never heard this 'I have no more flesh nature' until I joined this forum

sometimes people take it so far to the spiritual left that you wonder if they have left the earth

We definitely have the flesh and it will be here with us until we die or the Lord comes for us. The flesh is not our real identity - our true self is the new creation in Christ. That is who we are.

The flesh is not us - we have the world, the flesh and the devil and Jesus has conquered all 3 of them for us. Now we walk in this truth depending on the life of Christ in us to walk by the spirit.

Understanding the circumcision of the flesh and the heart in the circumcision of Christ will change our lives to live by the spirit so that we don't fulfill the lusts of the flesh to do "it's" desires. Col. 2:11

I don't ever remember anyone saying there is no flesh now - that's a new one for me too.
