So the sun stood still, and the moon stopped, till the nation avenged itself on its enemies, as it is written in the Book of Jashar. The sun stopped in the middle of the sky and delayed going down about a full day.
Joshua 10:13

What are your ideas about what technically happened in our solar system?

Technically? Alas, I love science but struggled to get C's.

Opinion? God stopped the earth and somehow fixed gravity to keep people on it for one day. Orrr he spun it onto its side so that area was at the pole that was in constant sunrise for a day. Either way, I don't get how people didn't feel a bit sick with all that movement or lack of movement.

Interesting the moon travels in a counter clockwise direction.

Good point.

Freeze frame? He stopped all orbital movement?

I got motion sickness easily when I was a kid. Because of that, I find it fascinating (not to be confused with I understand it), that our balance and ability to stand up straight without falling over is somehow connected to moving 24,000ish miles per day without feeling like we're moving at all.

No idea how much motion sickness I'd have if we suddenly stopped doing that.

*** God dwells in eternity,so He might of let eternity invade Earth thereby adding a day*** we were probably on Heaven's Clock...

A google search reveals that NASA has actually investigated this phenomenon so as to know where the planets are or were at any given time. In the bible it says that the sun and moon stood still about a day. The key word is 'about'. Their calculations of the long day were off by 40 minutes. In the days of Hezekiah he asked for a sign that God was indeed going to give him 15 more years to live so he asked for the sun to move backwards 10 steps. This was the equivalent of 40 minutes. The whole day was accounted for.

Ahh the wonders of the Big Toe...

sort of like sitting in a car moving at 100 mph can't really feel it moving 100 mph, unless a person is in a back of a pickup truck.

I'm thinking the atmosphere wouldn't be moving along with the earth either, probably wouldn't feel it stopped that much if at all.

This is urban legend. NASA has not investigate it at all.

The Lord can overturn the laws of science if he needs to. I can think of no other explanation at the moment.

Sick? It might be fun having an extra half day sometime.

Scientists understand that Earth's magnetic field has flipped its polarity many times over the millennia. In other words, if you were alive about 800,000 years ago, and facing what we call north with a magnetic compass in your hand, the needle would point to 'south.' This is because a magnetic compass is calibrated based on Earth's poles. The N-S markings of a compass would be 180 degrees wrong if the polarity of today's magnetic field were reversed

https://www.nasa.gov/topics/earth/features/2012-poleReversal.html

If you ignore the "timeline" given, you can see evidence in nature to show that God changed the rules of the Earth whenever he wanted to.

maybe He arranged a bunch of reflective dust temporarily into a great cosmic mirror in a very precise, perfect glancing orbit of its own?

You only feel acceleration, not constant motion. Sitting in a car travelling constant 100mph in a straight line feels exactly like standing still. But you feel turning or changing speed.

As for other effects, presumably the magnetic field of the Earth is generated by a dynamo effect that involves its rotation. If the Earth stopped rotating, it's magnetic field would no longer be regenerated and it would decay away to some low, residual value due to the very small component which is 'fossilized' in its iron-rich rocks. There would be no more 'northern lights' and the Van Allen radiation belts would probably vanish, as would our protection from cosmic rays and other high-energy particles. This is a significant biohazard.

*****

Earth's spin affects the magnetic field around the earth. If God throughout history made the earth stop spinning it may explain the poles magnetic shifts...

Also the tilt of the earth has changed and the constellations are different.
