I am really just trying to decide if there is more value than detriment to being here
Depends on if you are easily offended or not... lots of folks here get offended easy like a little crybaby!

If someone disagrees with you, so what? Just say yer piece and move on to some other thread and cast your care upon the Lord without getting all offended.

That's one of the ear marks of the younger generation coming up... they think anyone that disagrees with them is attacking them personally and they get offended.

It's never good to take things so personally when someone has a view point that is different than ours...

i think the mature should be considering the younger and take some care to not drive them away, even if their feelings are a little less hardened is whats really been rolling around in my own mind. kind of the considering others above our selves area of scripture, and being sure were not causing the younger in christ to stumble. or maybe let the ones who are just looking for Christ, not see us at each others throats lol got a deep feeling lately reminding me that we are representatives of the name we bear in this dark place. while we can never compromise truth, there is a gentleness ive lately been working toward.

2 timothy 2:24-26 "And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, 25In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; 26And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will."

i can only speak from my own Heart in this matter, at times i lose sight of the goal of why we share the word, its meant to lift others up from the snare, and sometimes harsh words have a further reaching affect on another, than on me. im able to dispute and then it is left behind without myself being offended, but others arent that way, lately its been really heavy on my to work on aspects in myself such as this scripture suggests. God bless always

Well, better not post any more scripture then... there's always someone claiming it's causing them to "stumble" because many don't believe the Bible... they believe their favorite cat on TV who don't believe the Bible either!

i think some of my own faults in the past havent been the scripture sharing, but how they were presented, and the arguing that i am drawn into, and probably also create at times with the interactions. im workin on it though, according to the same scriptures we share and learn, we are made accountable. i know alot of em lol so i need for myself at least, to start resembling some of those i have overlooked, if that makes sense. i dont think many are offended by the scriptures themselves, but sometimes whats already in us that doesnt agree with them. Thanks for the posts you share either way, always have some good knowledge to offer !

Yeah, I guess it never hurts to soften the delivery a little... and then not comment when they get all bent out of shape for not agreeing with them.

yeah, i have always considered myself a seed scatterer, but lately ive noticed i also trample down alot of those before they have time to root up strong. its always been easy for me to not be offended, and that nature in me sort of unknowingly forgets that were taught also to not give offense either. just kind of what im currently working out in my own Life, with the Lord, trying to better serve the One who deserves my honor through His bloodstains on the cross. I figure lately that if He can turn the other cheek and forgive them for what they did to Him on my behalf, the least i can do is spend my life giving all i can to serve Him as He wills.

were all a work in progress, its just the time and place i am and this post was just searching for others who are at that place. id hate to think a good seed is planted in a heart, and then i end up the one snatching it back with my pride even when its un intended. no better than the next Guy but i wanna follow the Lords pattern of things, especially the areas i struggle in like this one.

This is why even though I love the other funny, enjoyable 80% of CC, I will NEVER touch that toxic, hateful 20% of CC that is the BDF...unless it's to insert some random joke or funny comment in a troll thread.

lol i love the joke inserters ha, williet is the king of droppin a funny and then moving on and avoiding the arguing. always enjoyable to me as long as its tasteful and spirited right, laughter is a good thing in my own opinion and some of us can really stand to develope a bit more reception to those things in some of the heated debates.... God bless

I always warn new believers to not go to the bdf unless they have tough skin and for good reason. I have taken many new believers under my wings and I advise them to be careful of the bdf and if they do go there to make sure they do not get caught up in the war threads because those threads will only damage them. After all you don't send an infant into a lions den.

But as bad as the bdf is at having so much war I personally have grown the most in it maybe because my motives for being here is not like a lot of people. In everything within God's kingdom it begins and ends with the heart, if one has a heart that is humble and has a teachable and yearning soul they can grow in Christ even in the midst of the bloodiest war thread. I have many teachers some of them hate my guts and have called me a false teacher and a false prophet some have even said I am going straight to hell never even knowing they are helping to build me in Christ.

In their attacks and name calling I take it as an opportunity to grow in patience and love and in the heated debates it is sometimes very hard to stop arguing with a person and walk away because there is that urge inside to keep debating and prove them wrong even I feel this sometimes and takes restraint and humbleness to walk away and not say anything else I had to face this just today. Everything can be an opportunity to grow closer to God or it can be another pointless argument the heart of that person is the deciding factor. is anyone on this forum to grow with one another in the word of God? does it really matter if this person or that person has a good word just because we ourselves dont know an answer? is not the purpose of coming together for discussions, to expand our understanding of the written word, being a bible discussion forum? im having a perception that many are more here to argue thier own limited understanding and would like to offer the thought that not one of us is able to grasp everything by Gods design intended to bring us together into a fuller Knowledge that we cant attain by ourselves.

Please understand it isnt a judgement, ive been involved in a few arguments, and also have been guilty of thinking i knew. I have found over the years when we are convinced we already understand it all, God will always humble that within us. There are many wonderful people here with good understandings, One may understand the depth of a subject such as the Law of moses, while another may understand a subject like the epistles and thier place. Just a serious inquiry and invitation for anyone who is looking to share ( not force teachings on others) but share things that are in the word of God that He has given insight to them into.

its really the only reason some of us are here to actually grow in understanding, knowing that we each have come from different life experiences with the Lord and because of that we do have valuable things to share with others, and valuable things we can learn from others. arguing every point of another when they have clear scripture and good insight is not valuable , nor is explaining why certain aspects dont apply though they are clearly written. I am really just trying to decide if there is more value than detriment to being here. again to be clear, i have been a part of the arguing and stubbornness as i have perceived in most anyone who posts regularly so this isnt a judgement, rather a measure of value of participation, and realizing that i too have ben involved in some of the detrimental things.

Brothers and sisters, we spend far too much time devouring each other and plucking the seed from one anothers Hearts in this place, No more for me, i hope others have already seen the same and feel the same.

2 timothy 2:14-16 " Of these things put them in remembrance, charging them before the Lord that they strive not about words to no profit, but to the subverting of the hearers. 15Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 16But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness."

Lets grow into maturity together, rather than tearing one another down with the word, Gods design is to come together as believers in humility. different opinions are sure to be, but isnt the purpose to come to Jesus "opinion" rather than argue over our own? I pray you may have the humility to consider this
Its a good Post! The problem I see to realize it is, that the most of us have a certain and finish view. We have different hermeneutic and exegetic tools and thats why an fruitful discussion is not possible. What we learn is how and why we defend our view. Yes and we should do it in respect to the other!

another post full of good stuff bro. I guess thats the reason behind beginning this one, hoping some would consider making some changes, in order to make the bdf a bit more inviting and less destructive, because its a forum for discussion of the Word of Life, and alot of growth is possible now for some like yourself, but alot of harm is also possible and it doesnt have to be if we consider our own ways a bit more, and get alone with the Lord and consider hunility v pride, patience v stubborn ness and really consider the motivation behind our presence here.

to share , receive and grow in Gods word is my own personal goal, and im just at a place where im gonna do that and represent Jesus in better ways.

yep thats a big part of it, i think humility and turning the magnifying glass more onto ourselves, rather than the other guy is a good place to start. truthfully if we can all get to the point where our own views arent "everything everyone ever needed to know" in our own minds, and were willing to let go of some of thise things when we see clearly were not joiving with whats there in the word, we could all really benifit and actually make this a place of great learning and growth together rather than apart , also making it a better place for those who are just venturing into christian Life seeking to learn and grow in peace rather than constant conflict and youthful behavior.

I have learned that God does not miss one thing.....I regularly see things in the word and say to myself that man would have missed that one....just reinforces in my mind that the word is divine and God given and inspired......

amen, without Gods word, none of us would be the people we are now, or will be when He is finished with us. Living and active in us is that divine God given Word, the same God who said in the beginning " Let there be light" spoke and gave those words with the same creative power in our minds and hearts that made the world spin and galaxies shine.... works in us to turn darkness into light.

You are doing good, friend ! I want to thank you for being a loyal servant of the Lord who responded to Him in bringing us the message of (renewed) reconcilliation....for we keep falling down !!!
As I see it Christ/God are still 'hard at work in us to bring us to perfection and He is using obedient and faithful servants 'drawn into His work to help accomplish His task. That is what we are called for...to be created for good works in and through Him. Praise be to the Lord !

Praise be to the Good Lord indeed !

well im sure doing my best, as i know many are that are here in this forum. i think thats whats really coming to light lately for me, a person i disagree with , is here searching for Gods Word just like i am. its pretty easy to be drawn into arguments and like the scripture says it leads to more ungodliness, and actually does harm to those who are here searching and sharing just like myself and many others. He definately has my loyalty , and service unworthy to the millionth degree am i, but i find everything i truly need in Knowing the worthiness of the One Who was Given for me when I was at my worst. and so.....we press on toward the goal Knowing at the same time we have the One we serve calling us friends, and right there with us to pick us up each time we fall.....until our Legs are strong enough to where we can help others along the path with Him being there all the while with the Love He has given, and the sure map of His word that leads us to our destination !!

God is so good !! SO good !! and Worth more than we can fathom !! thank you for the encouragement, and for the Praise to Our Amazing Life Giving Savior !!! you blessed me Big in the encouragement dept. and i Thank God for your Kindness !!
