I take that to mean that if the spirit of God lives in a person then they are in the realm of the spirit and those that the spirit doesn't live in are in the flesh realm... in other words ALL saved people walk in the spirit and unsaved people walk in the flesh.

Yes...2 different realms completely. We still have the flesh with the law of sin still in it but the inner man in Christ has been circumcised by Christ where the body of sin has been "cut away" from the new creation that is in Christ. Col. 2:11

Paul calls it the circumcision of the flesh and heart. This is the circumcision of Christ when we receive Him after hearing the message of Him - where we are "sealed" by the Holy Spirit. Eph. 1:13

Religion always gets the gospel and the things of God backwards. They will say "Stop doing the works of the flesh and we'll be walking by the spirit.

It is the complete opposite of that - it is "walk by the spirit and we will not fulfill the lusts of the flesh to do "it's" desires." Gal. 5:16-17

For those that like to feed themselves on Christ. I highly recommend this teaching on how Jacob became Israel. Things in the Old Testament speak of the real substance which is Christ Himself.

It speaks of living from the flesh or living from the spirit which what God says is true about us because of Christ being in us. Without Him we can do nothing.

Jacob and his twin brother Isaac are an example of the Christian life - one is of the flesh - the other is of the new creation when it becomes "Israel".

This teaching shows how we are transformed by "beholding Christ in our inner man". It is a work of the Holy Spirit as we behold Christ Himself. It is one of the ways of God in which the kingdom operates from.

The fruit of this will produce good works coming from His life being manifested in and through us as we participate in it with the Lord.

Yes! It's a choice we make, as a believer, to walk by the Spirit. Hence, "take up your cross and follow me". We have to first decide to take up that cross. James 1 tells us that if we don't fall to temptation (which is a desire of flesh), then we will receive the crown of life. James 4 tells us to resist the devil and he will flee. Keep resisting those temptations, which is brought on by our sinful nature, which is brought on by Satan, then he will flee.

I have found that living by the Spirit has made it alot easier to resist temptations and the pull of them are getting weaker and weaker each time. Praise God! =D

That's right. We need to be careful to not do as many do and turn that passage on its head by dyslexically reversing it in our thinking to say, "Do not carry out the desire of the flesh, and then you will be walking in the Spirit".

The performance orientation of religion is avoided by the grace provision of Christ.

we never find anyone being exorcised of moral problems. It is impossible to cast out the flesh, it has to be conquered through repentance, walking in the Spirit and selfdiscipline. Gal 5:16,24. “A spirit of divination” can be exorcised, but you cannot exorcise sins of the flesh, like adultery, fornication and homosexuality. Acts 16:16. Paul ascribes these moral problems to “the works of the flesh,” and “an evilheart of unbelief.” Heb 3:12. People corrupt themselves and wilfully go under the dominion of the flesh, and into thecorruptions of the world, the flesh, and the Devil. Exodus 32:6,7,25, Deut 9:12; Rom 1:18-32; 3:11-23; Eph 2:1-3.

This is all about the absoluteness of crossing from death unto life. Meaning, if I now live by my spirit directed only by His Spirit, all things not of the spirit, which are still within my will to choose to do, benefit no one spiritually. And those are simply the facts. Thus, we are to live only by way of the spirit.

This creates our regenerated theme. To focus on dying to the right to myself thru understanding we have been already crucified with Christ on the Cross. And simply say yes and do what it is He makes clear for us to do as He interacts with us thru the intuition of our spirits. Now that sounds like I'm repeating myself to those who say just be Christian for God has gifted it to us.

But that is not real at all.The faith God supplies us is the faith that includes obedience to Himself. To be real about the gift of crossing over to life you must come to grips within yourself of the choices God made that has you pinned to that Cross as well. And it is a reality that to live the gift of God one will experience difficulties as we practice and experience the change-over of power. In this view and practice crisis' and temptation will not have us fall to sin. We need to see the reason thru God's eyes why we must align our choices with His as He asks us to in acts of obedience. Its very simple - it has nothing to do with earning God, it has to do with now that we have God do we love Him? He already knows how much He loves you for He is love. God knows you need not earn anything, but He is a jealous God who loves and delights in love. Our position in Christ, is unmovable, as long as we live by the spirit. It is not just those who believe, but those who also follow who love Him.

Livng by the spirit is showing the fruits of the spirit, love, joy, patience, self control,
faithfulness, perseverance.

The reason for the list of behaviour that shows the flesh because so many were
indulging in this and then claiming to know God and walk in His ways.

We are to see need and opportunity and minister to that need as and when we can.
