Have you ever considered that we are all ambassadors for God? That is those of us claiming to be Christians. Not only are we ambassadors but we are the children of God which means each one of us are royalty and children of the God of the universe.

When I consider this sometimes I'm ashamed as I don't feel that I represent Him very well but I want to do so much better than I do. I was very upset with myself during this past election for our President of the United States as it was a hard, mean battle between the political parties and between some of us Christians right here on this site.

Yes, I was ashamed of myself because I did loose it on a thread showing just how human I really am and how much I need God to continue to be the kind of ambassador that would represent my Father In Heaven the way I should.

Please post here your thoughts on being an ambassador for God and a child of God and how He helps you daily in your walk with Him. Bible verses are welcome as are your posts.

I have posted the definition below as well as some Bible verses.

2 Corinthians 5:19that God was reconciling the world to Himself in Christ, not counting men’s trespasses against them. And He has committed to us the message of reconciliation. 20Therefore we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making His appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ: Be reconciled to God.

1John 3:1Behold what manner of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God. And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know Him.

As ambassadors its more than just our witness that matters, but even our actions (that do effect our witness) but more importantly we act as extensions of Christ to the world around us. We allow God to work in and through us, so that He may reveal His goodness that leads to repentance. We follow God's leading in obedience unto His glory. As ambassadors its not only about the image we carry, but that we reveal the heart of God.

I was thinking along the same line of thought this morning. Not only ambassadors, but citizens of a heavenly Kingdom, with a ruling King.

Makes obedience a bit different in my thinking. Not slaves though. Sons of the King...learning to be ruling princes in the future, as the King rules now.

I posted this as I was wondering if anyone else thinks about being an ambassador for God and what they do to try and promote for Him.

I realize that good or bad we have and exert a witness and how that effects those around us....

Would it change the way we go about our daily lives if we considered this more often? How we treat others and what effect that has on them.

One of our teens was attacked this past week for a belief that she holds differently than some of the rest and it hurt her the way she was treated to the point of wanting to leave the site? Is this really how we want to treat each other when we are children of God?

EPH. 6:20.
For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.
even when Paul was in jail bound with chains, 'they sang hymns, and the chains were loosed'.:).

Great thread JL,
where ever we go or what ever we do, we can be a good ambassador-servant-messenger for our Saviour
and for others whom we come in contact with, no matter what we are facing or being challenged with...
of course it takes years of practice but we can/do 'over-come as we strive to love Him more and to
walk as He taught...

if we beat ourselves up to much, we beat ourselves down, and will not be able to move forward
in our Godly Walk...just acknowledging our shame shows that we want to do and be better...

of course we all get cranky, emotional, tired, frustrated, boy, I could go on and on here -
anyway, we know in our hearts that we can 'over-come' and be the good examples that
Christ expects us to be...

"And all of this is a gift from God, who brought us back to Himself through Christ. And God has given us this task of reconciling people to Him. For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to Himself, no longer counting people’s sins against them. And He gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation. So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making His appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!” For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ."

Hi JL,

Yes I think it would. May we all hear your exhortation to be ambassadors for Christ.

We need to ask ourselves who's at the forefront of our daily lives. Self or Jesus. What I want or what He wants. Are we
living and walking and full of the Spirit of God?

Thanks so much for your care and concern!

I'm so sorry to hear about the attack on one of your children. I hope he/she is okay. I think the hardest thing is we assume people here are believers when some are not so when they act in a way that is not Christ's character one can feel betrayed in a way. It happens here so often it's definitely not Jesus shining through some of the people here. :(

Hugs to you!

What a fantastic thread mom:D I admit that I know in his kingdom I am royalty even though I have a very hard time believing that lol but as an ambassador I will be the same kind of Ambassador that I seek to be as a Christian-love.
Believe me it isn't always easy sometimes we mess up land even continue to slip up having a hard time stopping sometimes the day and the stress of life can make less than kind to candy coat it and we can act so hateful sometimes as well.I mean I am a very soft and tender soul I have this natural love and care for people I see value and worth in people that others would have put to death yet I also have this monster inside me that when I get angry it is super severe so much so I am terrified of myself and have to have every bit of control I can possibly muster to not beat the living day lights out of someone like a wild animal.

Luckily I have always been able to control my instinct to destroy the person making me that angry which i extremely rare it has only happened a few times but the times it did scared me and I said things that I was soooooo ashamed of afterwards. So you see even the most loving and kind of people fail mom but we cannot allow it to affect us, remorse is good but we have to understand that it is an on going process to be a physical manifestation of his love and heart to the degree we want and it's an everyday fight within ourselves.

Re: What Kind Of An Ambassador Are You?

Do You Have a Good Name?
Do You Have a Good reputation ?

In the first-century Church, members in Corinth had become prideful and judgmental.
They criticized the Apostle Paul for what they perceived as his weak speaking.

Paul responded with a challenge: “EXAMINE YOURSELVES, whether ye be in the faith;
PROVE YOUR OWN SELVES” (2 Corinthians 13:5). You’ve been examining me, he said;
turn that examination on yourselves.

Examine here means to test, prove or scrutinize to see whether a thing is genuine or not.

Take a good look at yourself, Paul says. What is going on deep down?
Examine not just your actions but also your motives.

It is also needed to ask for God’s guidance in this process
2Examine me, O Lord, and prove me; try my reins and my heart.

It all starts with a focused look in the spiritual mirror.

Consider the poem “Self-Examination” by Isaac Watts:

“Let not soft slumber close your eyes, / Before you’ve collected thrice / The train of action
through the day! / Where have my feet chose out their way? / What have I learned, where’er
I’ve been, / From all I’ve heard, from all I’ve seen? / What have I more that’s worth the knowing?
/ What have I done that’s worth the doing? / What have I sought that I should shun? /
What duty have I left undone, / Or into what new follies run?

“Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established” (Proverbs 4:26).

How strong is your sense of purpose in life?
Ask yourself: What are you really passionate about?
What is it about these things that excites you?
How do they benefit other people?

Think of your legacy: How can you preserve the wisdom or other treasures you would like
to bequeath to them? “A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children’s children …”

Do You Have a Good Name?
When people think of your name, they think of your reputation.
What do others think when they hear your name?

How important is it to make a good name for yourself? Proverbs 22:1.

1A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches,
and loving favour rather than silver and gold.

Which is more important: the name you are given at birth, or how
you define that name over the course of your lifetime? Ecclesiastes 7:1

1A good name is better than precious ointment;
and the day of death than the day of one's birth.
-

It's possible for your actions to bring shame to other people,
bringing shame to your parents and to your family name.

26He that wasteth his father, and chaseth away his mother,
is a son that causeth shame, and bringeth reproach.

7Whoso keepeth the law is a wise son: but he that is a companion
of riotous men shameth his father. Proverbs 19:26; 28:7.
-

Your actions can actually improve the reputations of other people. You can
bring honor to your parents and increase the value of your family name

Proverbs 23:24-25 The father of the righteous shall greatly rejoice:
and he that begetteth a wise child shall have joy of him.

25Thy father and thy mother shall be glad, and she that bare thee shall rejoice.

-
How can you improve your name and reputation? Proverbs 21:21; 11:27; 14:9.
How can you harm your reputation? Proverbs 12:8; 13:5.

If someone steals, he gets a reputation as a thief. If he lies or stabs others in the back,
that is exactly what he becomes known for. But if he is honest, convicted and upright,
day after day, month after month, he builds a strong, unshakable reputation for those virtues.

People can tell whether your actions are worthy of a good reputation or not.
11Even a child is known by his doings, whether his work be pure, and whether it be right.
-
Speaking about your own goodness does not enhance your reputation.

6Most men will proclaim every one his own goodness: but a faithful man who can find?

2Let another man praise thee, and not thine own mouth; a stranger, and not thine own lips.

The only way to build a solid reputation is to make sure your “doings” are pure and right.
Focus on living virtuously, and “[l]et another man praise thee, and not thine own mouth.”

-
Being impressed with your own deeds is dangerous.
How do you obtain a good name and honor God’s way?

23A man's pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit.

4By humility and the fear of the Lord are riches, and honour, and life.

People will never have true honor until they become humble in spirit. People who
realize their limitations, admit their mistakes, seek instruction from God, heed
correction and are concerned for others will receive honor from both God and men.
-

A person who does diligent work will be looked up to by others

29Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings;
he shall not stand before mean men.

5He that gathereth in summer is a wise son:
but he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causeth shame.

26As vinegar to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes,
so is the sluggard to them that send him.

The person who does his work well and on time will receive recognition,
praise, promotion and a reputation that will serve him well over time.

-
Gossip can harm someone else’s good name. Proverbs 26:22; 16:28.

21As coals are to burning coals, and wood to fire;
so is a contentious man to kindle strife.

28A froward man soweth strife: and a whisperer separateth chief friends.

People hurt each other through gossip casually and frequently. They think they are
making themselves look better by pointing out the real or perceived faults of others.

But people who gossip are actually damaging their own reputations at the same time.
If you want a good name, respect everyone else’s good names as well.
-
As a young man, David had a good reputation 1 Samuel 16:18.
He maintained that reputation throughout his life, finding favor
with God and man .1 Samuel 18:30; Acts 13:22; 7:46.

How did King David handle people who slandered other people’s names?

5Whoso privily slandereth his neighbour, him will I cut off:
him that hath an high look and a proud heart will not I suffer.
-
You can improve your reputation by simply keeping certain things to yourself

28Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise:
and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding.

6Blessings are upon the head of the just:
but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.

7The memory of the just is blessed: but the name of the wicked shall rot.

-

What sort of legacy will you leave behind? Strive to leave a strong,
lasting, positive name that lives on even after you are gone.

The bottom line is, work hard to obey God and treat other people with kindness
and respect. Follow the principles of successful relationships laid out in the Bible.

Your parents gave you a name at birth, but what that name has come to mean
—and what it will mean far into the future—is mostly determined by you!

Make your name a good one.

Thanks for your concern but it wasn't my child that was attacked it was a teen fellow CC member for one of her beliefs here on this site. We are all growing Christians learning about God and none of us have arrived yet...and our battle isn't over even with each other, but we need to realize that we are God's hands and feet, mouth pieces and we are representing Him. We have the ability to turn people on to God or turn them off and chase them away from Him.

I just felt bad for her and the way she was treated over her belief in a particular subject matter. Which again made me think of our representation of God and how we should treat each other...

great post, prove-all,

and yes, until we are able to truly look into and discern our own hearts/desires/motives,
then we certainly can't help anyone else set their Spiritual House in order, if ours is in
disarray...we are all so blessed to have the chance to Love/follow our Saviour,
it's our job/ministry/reason for living for Him...

This is one morning I am thankful we all do not meet face-to-face. It truly angers me when people I consider to be God's special little lambs come under any kind of unnecessarily harsh criticism. I would be highly inclined to let fly at people going off on one of them.
