I know there will be some who will disagree with me on this issue, but that’s your right and please be respectful as this is what I feel that God has laid on my heart today. I only like to post when I feel that it’s been laid on my heart and this has been laid on my heart. Usually the things that I post are aimed to uplift and encourage, but this is what’s been laid on my heart today. I was reading in Romans chapter 8 last night and verses 4-16 have been on my mind and heart today. These verses also made me think of James 1:8. I also thought about the scripture in 2 Corinthians 6:14. I’m sure we all have struggled with this. Wanting to hang onto God in one hand and our own worldly desires in the other. There are others who are still struggling with it. The truth is that we can’t have both. To desire God’s ways is light and life and to desire our ways about His is the path to darkness death. Light and darkness cannot exist in the same room together. One will dominate the other. We should keep our desires focused on the things of God, not those of the flesh. It’s pretty easy at times to let the worldly desires creepy into our lives if we let our guard down for a minute. This passage has made me examine my own heart. I want my heart to be focused on the things of God and not on the fleshly things. I know at times I come short of what God wants me to be and I want to strive to be what he expects me to be. Daily prayer and devotion is important because they help keep our focus on him. God bless you all!

I'm a firm believer in daily devotion and prayer. My wife and I do this together each day and this has blessed us greatly. God understands the human condition and knows that we need certain things that are essential and certain things that can make life just a little bit more enjoyable. I agree that we should always keep our focus on God. May God bless you as well.

Yes it can be easy to get distracted by the things of this world this is why we are told to keep our thoughts on heavenly things
Colossians 3:2 Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.
Because something I have learned is that if my mind and heart are set upon him I only see him and only tend to think of him I am blind to everything else. When we focus on his light we are captivated by it and therefore have no mind or desire for earthly things

You are absolutely right. We have to be diligent in our devotions and prayers. Only when we keep our focus first and center on Jesus, it'll tune out worldly distractions. What you said reminded me of several posts I wrote. You can check them out here. Philippians 4:8, " Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things."

Yes, I agree with you! I believe that it’s extremely important to strengthen our walk with the Lord and have the Spirit of Christ. We belong to Him and ought to be focused on His things. Thanks for sharing, friend. I’m sure your post will bless and encourage others here. Blessings!

Thanks for sharing your heart and truthfully there is very little to disagree on.
As Paul stated, once the Spirit is in us, we become a new creation and the old
falls away. So once we have been filled with the Spirit, there is no going back.
There is nothing to go back to. There is no reason to go back because once we
have realised the joy of the Spirit, the flesh no longer has even the slightest
appeal to us. And you are totally correct, we can't be both. There is no pluralism
here, it is one or the other. :D
