I don’t think many people understand salvation, at least, not many younger people.

One group of people seems to think that people will burn in hell forever. If you believe this, then you must believe the Lord is incapable of, or unwilling to, discipline the people he creates into fulfilling that which is required to avoid such a fate.

Another group seems to think that if at some point you accept the Lord as your Savior, you live happily ever after, no matter what you do. If you believe this, I think you are in for a rude awakening.

I believe we are all bound for heaven. It will be a much, much easier ride for those who accept the Lord’s discipline.

Who cares what you believe, show it by the Scriptures, other wise it means nothing it is just your opinion.

I know you are wrong and the bible tells me so. You have posted one of the most frightening things I have seen here on CC.

If we are all going to heaven then Jesus did not need to die to atone for our sins.

LOL I don't think YOU understand salvation.

One group of people seems to think that people will burn in hell forever. If you believe this, then you must believe the Lord is incapable of, or unwilling to, discipline the people he creates into fulfilling that which is required to avoid such a fate.
Many people will ignore discipline. But we do not understand the mind of God.

Another group seems to think that if at some point you accept the Lord as your Savior, you live happily ever after, no matter what you do. If you believe this, I think you are in for a rude awakening
.

So do I. For whom the Lord loves He chastens.

I believe we are all bound for heaven. It will be a much, much easier ride for those who accept the Lord’s discipline.
well I guess its either you or Jesus. I plump for Jesus.

The final destination is not heaven.

If all roads lead to heaven then Christ's death was in vain. It would also make Jesus either a liar or deceived when he said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. John 14:6. It would mean that we don't need to repent or fear God because we are going to go to heaven no matter what we do. If all people go to heaven, then even the worse murderers who died are there and heaven in essence would become hell because the wicked are there to make havoc. Heaven would be like earth in that there would be sorrow and pain and wickedness except it would be worse because it would last forever. People who torment others would be there and the victims would get no relief because they can't die. Heaven then would be worse than earth.

You need to understand what heaven is. Heaven is what our life is like after we repent of our sin.

From that time Jesus began to preach, saying, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand." Matt 4:17 RSV

[17] "Yet your people say, `The way of the Lord is not just'; when it is their own way that is not just.
[18] When the righteous turns from his righteousness, and commits iniquity, he shall die for it.
[19] And when the wicked turns from his wickedness, and does what is lawful and right, he shall live by it.
[20] Yet you say, `The way of the Lord is not just.' O house of Israel, I will judge each of you according to his ways." Ezekiel 33:17-20 RSV

This is an interesting statement. I would say heaven is what happens to us after we repent of our sin (Matt 4:17). What destination are you referring to?

[/SIZE]Hold up a mirror and you'll see one of'em.

That OP reeks of universalism, because it is.

Live it up guys.
I think I do understand salvation. First, the Lord died on the cross to save us from the sins we had already committed. Next, he wanted us to repent of our sin.

Then why repent if we get to Heaven either way?

I don't understand how you arrived at this conclusion, but I'm with you: I plump (whatever that means) for Jesus.

I didn't say that all roads lead to heaven. I'm saying that the Lord's discipline can be very severe. Which one of us will choose immense suffering over heaven?

As Jesus taught, we go to heaven when we repent:

From that time Jesus began to preach, saying, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand." Matt 4:17 RSV

So who are those that stand before the GWT and are cast into the lake of fire?

Jesus told of the rich man in Luke 16 where he is described as being in torments and unable to pass to Abraham to enjoy the comforts of paradise.

Rome teaches that all men except the absolute worst eventually go to heaven. They must atone for their sins in purgatory which is a false mythology.

Heaven is abiding in the place Jesus has prepared for us. A place where no sin can ever enter in and we fellowship with our Lord.

You have gotten none of your ideas from the bible. It seems to me that you have ingested way too much new age mysticism.
