Discussion to figure out if saved and born again mean the same thing. I say no based on the verses below.

Born again comes by the word of God. It is the "mind" of Christ in us, our inner sinless man.

1 Peter 1:23 KJV
Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

Saved comes from confessing the Lord Jesus and believing God raised him from the dead.

Romans 10:9 KJV
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

I would think the new birth is the beginning of our salvation process. Am interested to see what you have to say.

Lets not forget to add Verse 10 to Romans 10.9

[SUP]10 [/SUP]for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.

Born again is the new creation and the new man risen into newness of life, while the odl man died with Christ.

Saved/Salvation means delivered and and forgiven.

Check out the NASB:

Romans 10:9 that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;

Only a born again believer can confess with their mouth Jesus as Lord. Salvation does not come unto one by confessing Jesus as Lord. Salvation comes by confessing the Lord Jesus, His testimony of the cross. Talk about a false gospel...

And by the way, how many born again believers can confess with their mouth that Jesus is Lord? Is Jesus Lord of your life in all areas? No picking and choosing...

These are the base verses that lead me to believe they are not the same. Can you guys think of verses that would prove born again and saved are the same?

I don't see a big deal with that one. The moment I was converted, he was my Lord and I knew it.

Regeneration also means to be born-again or born anew. Originally we were born of our parents, but now we are born once more, this time of God. The Bible calls this experience being born again. When we were born of our parents, we obtained human life. When we were born of God, we obtained God’s divine life.

Regeneration is not self-improvement or better behavior. It is a rebirth which brings in a new life. It is absolutely a matter of life, not a matter of doing. We have already received the human life from our parents; now we need to receive the divine life from God. For us to have another life we must have another birth. When we have the life of God, we are the sons of God. The life of God gives us the right and authority to become the sons of God (John 1:12). By this life we possess the divine nature of God, and have a life-relationship with God (2 Pet. 1:4). We do not need religious or ethical teachings to regulate and correct us; we need another life, the life of God, to regenerate us.

Being saved means from re-birth, or conversion to Christianity all people go thru the following process:

*Confess that they are a sinner in need of a Savior.

*Repent from that sin Acknowledge and believe that Jesus is the One Savior who can take away their sin (because of His deity, and His death and resurrection).

*Believe that Jesus is the Son of God, the promised Messiah.

*Receive the Holy Spirit to guide them in daily life.

*Have their names written in the Lamb’s book of life, where upon death they will not be destined to a life separated from God – instead, they will be ‘saved’ from eternity in hell, and receive access to heaven and eternal fellowship with God.

The term ‘saved’ simply refers to the standing a believer has in Jesus Christ (The position of standing; and our experiential standing in Christ). . With the guarantee of heaven, believers are ‘saved’ from eternal damnation in hell. All who are believers are sealed with the blood of Jesus Christ, and seen as righteous in the eyes of the Lord…’saved’ to be with God in heaven.

Tit 3:5 'Twas not for deeds that we had done, but by his steadfast love alone, he saved us through a second birth, renewed us by the Spirit's work,

There's a lot of things going on when we receive Christ as our Lord and Savior. We receive Him by faith and are saved in the process. But it's an ongoing process. Our salvation is continuous throughout our lifetime.

Eph. 2:8-9: “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.”

I believe the incorruptible seed is the Holy Spirit of God, and by the word of God, is the word that defines that incorruptible seed.

The parable of the sower;

Matthew 13: But other fell into good ground and brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold

1 Corinthians 15:42 So also is the resurrection of the dead, it is sown in corruption, it is raised in incorruption.

We are the seed of corruption, Christ is our resurrection from corruption to incorruption. He is the incorruptible seed. Defined by the word of God as such.

We are born again, saved, resurrected by the incorruptible seed, Jesus, as defined by the word of God.

John 3:3-7
3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?
5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.

Jesus is answering the question by saying you are born of water (natural birth) and then born again by the Spirit (Spiritual birth)

John 14:16 -17
And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; 17Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

The Spirit of truth is certainly Jesus

So Jesus says you must be born again by the Spirit. Not by the word of God as you believe 1 Peter1:23 is stating.

Romans 8: 9-11
9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
10 And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.
11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.

I do not believe you can differentiate between being born again and saved, we are born again and saved by the Spirit of God. When you are saved you are born again. Being born again is not a process that comes about after salvation.

You are born again by the Spirit of God as defined by the word of God. Not by the word of God alone as you beleive 1Peter 1:23 states.

Also you isolated Rom 10:9 to define what saved is, but that doesn’t jive with the below verse. Can you reconcile the two verses that give different definitions to how we are saved?

Romans 8 : 24
24 For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for?

I'm going to take one point at a time. You said you believe the incorruptible seed is the Holy Spirit but Luke tells us that the seed is the word of God. Agree?

Luke 8:11 KJV
Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.

Yes, and John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, full of grace and truth

So the word is also Jesus, agreed?

Born again of...

Saved from....

Both words describe the same event from different perspectives........Born again of the Spirit = saved from the consequences and of sin--->the condemntaion of the law!

It is written the knowledge and belief of Jesus Christ being Lord is of teh Holy Spirit. Any who are saved are a new person, all!

I know when I was convinced by the Holy Spirit, and all did become new because of this eperience.

The thought of not believing Jesus Christ became impossible.

I would not cast doubt in any manner on any who are saved not being born again. Many do not realize totally that they are born again, but all then need do is refer to when they first believe. All did become new, born again, saed, amen.

I would also add... from the dominion or slavery to sin

"For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace."

"What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid."

"Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?"

"But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you."

"Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness."

"I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness."

For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness.

What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death.

But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
(Rom 6:14-23)

And more.........

"And every man that hath this hope in him purifies himself, even as he is pure."

"Whosoever commits sin transgresses also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law."

"And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin."

"Whosoever abides in him sins not: whosoever sins hath not seen him, neither known him."

"Little children, let no man deceive you: he that does righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous."

"He that commits sin is of the devil; for the devil sins from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil."

"Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God."

"In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever does not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother." (1John 3:3-10)
