You realize B12 doesn't come from animals right? It's a vitamin compound that occurs naturally in healthy bacteria rich water sources such as springs, lakes, and rivers. It can then get into soil and and the plant foods we consume. It never used to be a problem getting B12, but with the advent of modern society where everything is bleached and sanitized, we kill what would help us for fear of what would harm us.

Your cows and pigs don't get their B12 naturally. How can they when their stuck in a cage standing in a pile of their own feces gobbling up GMO soy and corn until they are fat enough to slaughter? B12 supplements are put right into their feed or injected directly, along with a slew of vaccines and antibiotics which, in turn, make them less effective for humans (but that's an entirely different debate of how eating animals is killing us and our planet)

You just want to know about B12. Go drink from a lake and roll the dice, or take a supplement. It's way more natural and effective than giving a supplement to a cow, to then eat the cow, just to get a vitamin. That path of logic for why you need meat for B12 is patently absurd. Just cut out the middle man. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
How ya gonna BBQ supplements?

You forgot to mention that b12 is produced in the gut bacteria of animals and is absorbed into their flesh also.

Ruminants, such as cows and sheep, absorb B12 produced by bacteria in their guts. For gut bacteria of ruminants to produce B12 the animal must consume sufficient amounts of cobalt. Grazing animals pick up B12 and bacteria that produce it from the soil at the roots of the plants they eat.

B12 is produced in nature only by prokaryotes in the form of certain bacteria and archaea; it is not made by any multicellular or single-celled eukaryotes. It is synthesized by some gut bacteria in humans and other animals, but humans cannot absorb the B12 made in their guts, as it is made in the colon which is too far from the small intestine, where absorption of B12 occurs. wiki

Yea, the animals you eat don't get a sufficient amount of cobalt. Nor do that eat plants from the roots as in nature. It has all been industrialized and commercialized to where they just eat out of enormous bags of feed. I'd be willing to bet my b12 levels are higher than yours. Eating meat for b12 is the laziest and most ignorant justification you could possibly entertain. You eat meat because you are a selfish glutton, devoid of compassion. I'll just let God be the final judge of your choices and actions on this earth for the moral and ethical atrocities you've allowed and supported against all his living creatures.

@idaho_miner, welcome.

As you have gathered, we have a few vegans and vegetarians here, but the majority of us enjoy tasty meat. Personally, I prefer beef, pork, poultry and seafood, but I really enjoy an occasional plate of wild game. My favorites are alligator and venison, but it's hard to beat a plate of smoother fried squirrel or rabbit and dumplings.

A word of caution to you from a former vegetarian. Lack of protein and calcium are you worst enemy. Especially when you lead an active life. It almost cost me my life. Yes, I gave up meat and meat byproducts for several years. When I was told that I needed a calcium and a protein supplement, I found the best option was that good ole meat, milk and cheese that I had given up.

Please, if you plan to continue in your lifestyle, especially with the type of work that you do, make sure that you keep your protein and calcium levels up.

Again welcome.

As if you just knew that off the top of your head
and didn't spend twenty minutes googling for it.

I see you're keeping up on the vegan propaganda.

Actually, I learned it from a podcast I listened to a few years ago.

Oh, nice 'gotcha'! Not exactly though... from my viewpoint eating meat when it is unnecessary is selfish, gluttonous behaviour, devoid of compassion. It's just a statement of what it is to me. Like that 'that red shirt over there' isn't a judgement of the colour of the shirt, it merely describes it.

And from my point of view, vegans are terrorist, and should hold their conventions with isis.

I would then ask if the moral issue is a desire to take no life, are they pro abortion? I find it incongruous to be a vegan on the grounds of "take no life", yet be for abortion. If they eat no eggs, why would it be morally alright for a woman to abort her child?

I don't have anything against vegans, if a person really has a conviction to take no life, they should follow their convictions. Where I find it incongruous is when a person like Hitler was a vegetarian, yet cared not for human life.

This is actually a clever argument.

The best way to deal with non-Christians is usually to point out the inconsistencies in their OWN thinking.
You don't have to convince someone YOU are right, if you can point out their OWN thinking is inconsistent.

Let me guess, this is something you heard somewhere and have taken it to be true, because it somehow justifies your own incongruous morality? According to Robert Payne, who is considered Hitler's most definitive biographer:

"Hitler's asceticism played an important part in the image he projected over Germany. According to the widely believed legend, he neither smoked nor drank, nor did he eat meat or have anything to do with women. Only the first was true. He drank beer and diluted wine frequently, had a special fondness for Bavarian sausages and kept a mistress, Eva Braun… His asceticism was fiction invented by Goebbels to emphasize his total dedication, his self-control, the distance that separated him from other men. By this outward show of asceticism, he could claim that he was dedicated to the service of his people. In fact he was remarkably self-indulgent and possessed none of the instincts of the ascetic."

In fact, his personal chef tells us that his favourite dish was stuffed pigeon. He was a fan especially of cured meats and sausages. His vegetarianism was simply nothing more than Nazi propaganda to make him seem like a compassionate leader for the people. They wanted people to look up to him like some kind of spiritual leader, the Nazi equivalent of Mahatma Ghandi. It's impressive how effective Nazi propaganda was, as people clearly seem to believe it to this day.

Truly, there is no factual evidence to support this claim of Hitler being a vegetarian. I don't know why it comes up so frequently, other than it seems to absolve meat-eaters of guilt somehow. The fact of the matter is it's just blatantly untrue, so you should really stop regurgitating this second-hand information as it only spreads further ignorance.
