I've only read a few of the replies, so sorry if i'm repeating someone else. This is ironic because we learned about this in my sunday school class today. God also tells us that we must hate our wifes, mother/father...etc. Now he doesn't mean that we should HATE them...he was saying that we should put Him before those people. So, it could be said that he didn't hate esau....he was just putting Jacob before him? Someone correct me if you feel I am wayy off.
