this question is vey deep...so I will just ask questions while I give my oppion.
I personally believe that God answers prayers and does miracles such as healing ... in "HIS" time... but I would like to go in depth with this subject

in the old testament God first listened to Able... not Cain because Able's sacrifice was more honorable than incense
God listened heard Elijah not only because He was a prophet be He fasted without food or drink to the point of insanity and the birds had to feed Him

My opinion on this method is that fasting does work because God listen to us when he sees such devotion and prayer.

I ask this question... why did God allow Job to be tempted and suffer more than any human being in existence (from my opinion He took everything from Him... wife... kids...animals etc.... certainly I can't imagine the pain He went through as a faithful servant of God ... certainly Job did pray to God often and it was not until the end when God blessed Job exceedingly)

I don't think I can go to any more extreme in the OT so I will got to the New Testament

Jesus paid the ultimate price for all of humanity and certainly there is no question in my mind that God spoke to Him personally in prayer and everywhere He went.

another question... John the Baptist.... I believe was Jesus' best friend.... even John's disciples I believe wondered if Jesus would save Him from being beheaded.

finally on the subject of healing... Jesus heals some and some not... ? I believe it had to do with their faith.

In this day and age we ask God for healing and sometimes we are healed and yet we do not see it as healing...as concerning minor healings of colds or minor back pain... we all sometimes ask God for help in someway or another and forget to show "appreciation" to God for all he has done.. is continuing to do or will do... and I compare this to us as children asking for a car for Christmas and come three years later on our 19th birthday we get it and since we have a good job (hypothetically) we don't show the same appreciation as if we were 16 and begging for the car.

maybe I went a little too extreme to push a point that God has feelings too....and God really does see our hearts and what's in our minds...He does want us to be faithful to Him through thick and thin and even if today is not the day we get an answer from God ... don't lost hope .... hope it is tomorrow (great faith) and tomorrow hope it is the next day (our faith should not waiver) most of be obedient and do not faulter and see what God does

God answers all prayer. Just because we don't get the answer we want, doesn't mean he didn't answer it. He answered in an unexpected way. If you want nothing but Yes in your answers, ask God to give you his will in you. That one he promised he'd do.

Interesting post, it makes one wonder, does God show special favor to some more then to others(in answering prayer). We know that God is no respecter of persons as in the sense that he simply liked Able better then Cain, we know that their faith and works toward God is what made the difference. In my own experience God actually talked to me at my salvation experience, it was not until years later that I found this to be unusual. I found years ago that some professing Christians can get prayers answered while others for the most part cannot. Why? I would think that it has to be the connection that they have with God. In the NT Stephen was able to do great miracles because of his faith, yet we do not know why he could have such great faith more then most of the others. One thing for sure, God answered Stephens prayers much more then most others, that is why he stood out. Why?

I don't guess my record is as good as you folks, I have prayed for things that I have never seen evidence of an answer to. I think that sometimes God just does not answer, it is not yes, no, or later, it is silence. I know that God is certainly aware of all our prayers, but sometimes He just does not answer...and sometimes He does.

The bible states "His ways are not our ways, and His thoughts are not our thoughts". I totally understand where you're coming from though. I would like to ask you to do something... you mentioned Job, in the last 4 chapters of Job, God is doing all of the talking. When I read those chapters, I "personalized" them and used my name in the place of Job's. It is a VERY humbling experience and a message reverberates loud and clear from it. Take time to read those chapters... slowly, using YOUR name...and then see if you still have trouble understanding the "Whys and Why nots" of God. I say this with all respect to your person:)

God tells us he loves us all yet you are telling us that he likes different people better than others thus giving them more miracles.... WOW..... And where did you get that he liked (your words) ABEL more than Cain....They both had faith but Abel followed God's instructions and Cain did not. I agree with some scholars who believe that Cain is in Heaven along with Abel.

The bright side of your post....Look at it like this,,,,without Cain being ostracized by God, those who believe in the Sethite scenario instead of fallen angels would not have a leg to stand on........OHHHHHHH.....

I will explain why I started this subject...I blindly believe God... and I know all negative things have no part in Him.... now this world is so very corrupt... I fear that people are losing faith in God because of the evil of this era .... increasing ... but not me I remain ... full of faith that God has a plan and even if I don't see His plan until after I pass on ... it makes no difference .... I love my God and I will "still" wait on MY God .... now for those who lack faith in prayer... I personally threw every strong argument into this post so that in the end... if everyone believes prayer works 100 % without fail.... the whole universe with pray to God!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Has God answered any of your prayers in your life? If he has then when God doesn't seem to answer, that very well could be his answer. God knows whats best for his children and he may help you balance while riding lifes bicycle but every now and then God will step back and allow his children to balance for themselves. If God didnt step back we would never grow in reliance and faith. If we never was brought low in life we may never learn the greatest lessons in life. The ones we learn when we hit rock bottom or feel like our life is out of control brings us closer to God and strengthen our faith for those who hold on. Otherwise we may grow content and comfortable, lazy in our faith.

When God doesn't answer that should tell you to pray differently and just ask for wisdom and guidance. Instead of you asking just pray for it to be his will and to guide you in the ways God had planned. And just carry on in faith relying on God for ever step. Also sometimes we are too busy to hear or see Gods answers. Sometimes we must wait and listen.

Joel Osteen teaches people that it is ok to pray to GOD asking for things (i.e new house, new car, better job,,, whatever your heart desires) and that because you have prayed about it, you will receive it.............

And then you have the Preterist, replacement theology, new age movement, etc., etc., etc, theologies all of which are fully engaged apostacia.

Thank you Respectfully for your post... it is a good one.

Hope you have had a Blessed Day

The things that happen IN this world are due to man's rebellion against God. Man wanted to be his "own" god and rule the earth EXCLUDING the One who created it AND him. Man brought the curse on this world and God is allowing the consequences of man's choice. ~ Reading through the Pentateuch, you can see and "feel" God's yearning for man to turn back to Him. When He offered himself to be "their" God, man demanded a "king" instead... now enters Saul.... pretty to look at but dumber than a box of rocks and disobedient to God's instruction. We all know what happened with him.... BUT! God gave the people what they wanted and along with what they wanted came the consequences. THAT is why God doesn't "intervene" in the horrors and atrocities of this world. Allowing man to witness what happens when rejecting God.

amen roughsoul!!! a lot of times when I'm helping people and sacrificing things for God .... I forget that I also am at rock bottom right now in a situation that I'm still believing in God for and dreams so big that my family doesn't even believe in me because I'm mentally disabled... I have many talents because God has blessed me ...and God has made me beautiful... but basically I have to depend on myself now ... and God has stepped in ... He is the reason I believe in myself and my dream of starting my own band one day then after that a club for "all" ages with the words "POSITIVELY INSPIRED on the walls... yes I want a clean cub with totally positive music "lean on me" for example ... and Christian songs and dancing especially on Sunday

Job: If I remember correctly, it was a test of his faith. Job suffered, but was rewarded heavily in the end. He was alive, healthy, had more land than before, had more children than before, probably got a wife who was more God fearing that the last one.

John the Baptist: He was probably done with his work on earth, and John probably knew that. "Blessed are those who are dead in Christ." This leaves the question, if someone's alive, then does that mean that God has a purpose for that person? I tend to think yes.

Healing: To those who are sinners, having pain is usually a way of God getting their attention. For Christians it's usually a test of some sort, or maybe it's THE test that God has prepared you for with a bunch of smaller tests. (This doesn't necessarily mean that you'll be badly injured, it could mean that you will have to help a badly injured person.)

believe that there are many answers to these kinds of questions. Many of which are probably very valid.

thankyou Jayblue but concerning God helping me.... God made me beautiful just the way I am and I shall wait on God to help me for all my hopes and dreams for I trust in God with all my heart but sometimes I may lean on my own understandings....yet I am human and I make mistakes and the Holy Spirit is always my guide bringing me back on track So that God may direct my paths.... and if God were to open bigger doors of opportunities and abitions I would feel pressured like everyone else... but I would not question God... I will do God's will for my life no matter what it is... and yes God has chastened me alot't

God answers every one of His children's prayers- either yes, no, or wait. And it has to be in accordance to His Will.

No offense to the o.p. person but these kinds of threads have to stop and by that I mean if you measure your place in the kingdom by answered prayer or ones status with God by the same you missed the whole story.
Giving our lives to Christ, being in him, his will be done is the beginning of the journey.
God loves terrorist....but he hates terrorism.
God loves homosexuals .....but he hates homosexuality.
God loves liars....but he hates lieing
God loves fornicators....but hates fornication.
The list goes on but if it were not so none of us would be saved. Or as Paul said "as some of you were".
I could bring up the thief on the cross, or Paul's prayer for healing that was denied but better yet use these 2 saints as the example of how extreme they are from each other and God being just in his judgement denied a daily praying saint but then gave the other paradise for what would seem his only request ever made to God.
People have fallen away from the faith for this way of thinking. Wolves make a living spreading garbage like this. And some broken hearted have taken their lives when they have seen no hope and believe this lie.
Pray harder, pray longer, fast until you faint, beg, beg,beg . Oh you don't have enough faith child, your loving God wants you to scream louder, beg more earnestly, cry more until you appreciate what he's done.
I thought Jesus said it was the father's pleasure to give you the kingdom.
Oh I know there's sin in your life, go clean yourself up and try again.
Oh maybe your words were not eloquent enough to catch his ear. Yet he knows when a sparrow falls.
Who knows the mystery of the Lord? Well it certainly isn't me but I do know what it is not.

Job and Jesus were certainly talked up by God. Look at my servant job....... My beloved son in whom I'm well pleased. Would you want to trade places with them not knowing the end?
For that matter.....do you know your end?

The bible says "ask and ye shall receive, seek and ye shall find, knock and the door shall be opened unto you... now God may not give my e everything I want but God always provides for me acoording to his riches and glory in Christ Jesus... now I am not worthy of such glory or honor....I serve God with all my heart and to God be all the glory honor and praise.... may His name be lifted high above the heavens and may I one day see my lord and in that day I shall rejoice for My God is an awesome God

potters clay...... I pray that I never judge anyone my entire life (mathew 7:1) judge not and you will not be judged .... and if I have judged anyone I apologize right now because I do not have the right to judge anyone and I repent if I have wronged anyone in this forum or in any my post... I understand that the wages of sin is death but also that all have sinned and come short of the glory of God (romans 3:23) forgive me Lord if i have said something wrong.

Prayers have to be asked with faith, and sometimes persistence. Asking for things contrary to His will doesn't work either.

Matthew 21:22
And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.

James 4:3

Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.
