My main problem with Daniel 9 24-27 was the different translations. They vary immensely. When I researched it I found that there were different source manuscripts that the translators worked from.

In general I like the NRSV:

e.g. first someone's armies destroy the Temple, (e.g. Titus) and then: (NRSV)

and for half of the week he shall make sacrifice and offering cease; and in their place shall be an abomination that desolates,

Well, that is consistent. Titus's armies destroyed the Temple AD 70, so AD 70-73 there was no offering or sacrifice, whilst the Roman war against Judea continued.

'in their place': Where were the sacrifices and offerings made? In the Temple precincts - not necessarily the Holy of Holies itself.

The Roman Armies simply stuck their standards with an image of Zeus/Jove on on the Temple Mount.

I hear that. It has been my dream to learn to read Hebrew, so that I can read the Tanakh in full, in Hebrew. Not sure it would help, though it sure won't hurt. Not going to good. LOL

This is just one of the many things that have came to my attention. According to Josephus, Titus never gave the order to destroy the Temple. He wanted it kept in-tacked. When he heard it was burning, he gave the order to put out the fire. This, (in my mind anyway) may show us that the people talked of here are not the Romans, rather the Muslim people under his command. As we know, the 10th and 11th legion were made up of people from what is now Iran, and Turkey. Also if one looks to the fact that this prince will sit in the Temple,2Thes.2:4 Titus didn't do this.

May I ask, how does this fit the account given by John in Rev. John is talking of the same person is he not? As Rev. seems to have been written sometime around AD 70 give or take 5 years. Rve. 13 also gives a bit more info than does Dan. Like the mark, and the killing of any that will not worship the beast. I may be the rest of my life seeking the answer I need, yet it will not be a wasted effort. At lest in my mind, any effort spent in the study of the Word, is not wasted. After all, is not when we force our ideas to fit the teachings of the Word, that we find truth? To try and force the Word to fit our ideas, leads to folly, and distraction.
