I know good and well that God made the earh, but there are some contradictions here now in my life. My mom says the earth is around 2000-3000 years old, but my science teacher, Professor Hemsworth, says that it is in fact around 5 billion years old. I have read the bible many times but I just need a straight answer! ;)

It's older than any of us, and that is really about all we really can say with any certainty. And, all we really need to say.

most likely around 10,000 years.

remember, God created the heavens and the earth for man, thus he would have made the heavens and the earth aged, or mature, so that it can support man and do what God intended it to do from the beginning.

According to the testimony of scripture, it is about 6000 years old, give or take 100 years.

I feel like you have good points, but all of science tells us that in order for the fossils that are carved into the ice to be layered in the manner like they are, a few million years has to pass. This is a difficult topic :( My brain goes ouchie

I can definitely say without any doubt that the earth is at least 28 years old.

I am curious to know how your mother comes up with 2-3
thousand years when we have more recorded history than that...

Actually the catastrophic flood answers all those questions.. Just like the grand canyon, it is possible they happened in a matter of a few years, not billions of years as many want to say.

What this is going to boil down to is whether you accept the inspired testimony of scripture or the interpretation of physical evidences by the scientific community.

The Bible is not a book about Australia and kangaroos, it is a book detailing man's spiritual condition before a holy just and loving God, our relationship with Him, and Gods ultimate plan for those who believe in Him :)

Well they couldn't have. Noahs ark landed in the middle east, and there is no connection between there and Australia. There are also no kangaroo fossils anywhere but 'stralia.. But idk
