Yes, if your mind is set on riches rather than the Lord, you are living according to the flesh and not the spirit.

Why do you write so tiny? It's hard of us old folks to read.
thanks, often time, pear pressure direct me to set my mind on riches rather the Lord, some time I forgot that only Jesus is the sources of happiness, being rich may gain respect from friend, and some time I think most people respect the rich more than the poor, but I forgot that respect from the Lord is much better.

Hello Jackson,

"The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God."

To live in the flesh is to willfully live according to the sinful nature. It is essentially for one to do his own will opposed to God's will.

What is the meaning of living according to the flesh is a great topic - and the desire for riches part can definitely be a part of the works of the flesh being manifested.

What is the flesh ? That is the real question to have answered. The flesh are the ways and means we take in order to try to get life and meaning - other then from relying on Christ Himself and all that He has already done on the cross and resurrection.

All of the works of the flesh bring death of some sort to us all because there is no true life to be found in them.

Here is a great short video that talks about this subject.

Nice explanation. After accepting Jesus we have 2 nature, sinfull nature and spirit nature,
do not feed sinful nature, it will make Spirit nature grow and make us happy. I remember when Paul in prison, he was not stress, but happy, he was sing in the prison.

For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit

if we read the entire chapter, live according to the flesh will lead to death or hell

than what is the characteristic of live according to the flesh

if I want to be rich to make my family happy, is that live according to the flash?

i want the answered.

The flesh Is the part of us that we see but It Is also that part of us that we call the personality, emotion, the mind.

IE
If you walk up to someone, they see your body.If you had your back turned and someone walked up behind you and tapped you on the shoulder, you would know without turning around that someone just touched me.Thats the flesh also.

Before we got saved we made decisions based on sense knowledge, when we got saved GOD gave us a new heart and our desires changed, but our flesh had done things a certain way and when GOD changed us,we now need to retrain our flesh to fit who we are In the spirit.

Somebody might ask,how do you do that?answer=trust In the SPIRIT to our spirits,CHRIST In us rather than trusting In self.

2 Corinthians 5:14-17

King James Version(KJV)

14.)For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead:

15.)And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.

16.)Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more.

17.)Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
