For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit

if we read the entire chapter, live according to the flesh will lead to death or hell

than what is the characteristic of live according to the flesh

if I want to be rich to make my family happy, is that live according to the flash?

i want the answered.

Living selfishly in all one does for one's own benefit, desire, satisfaction, causes, conscience, immorality, (ie if it feels good, do it), giving no thought to the things of God; oppositional to the things of God etc. "The LOVE of money is the root to all KINDS of evil". ~ Just because you'd like to be wealthy doesn't mean you are living according to the flesh. There's nothing wrong with wanting to provide well for your family. It's when "wealth or the acquiring of money" becomes more important than God in your life, that the flesh is waging war with the spirit.

Do you feel like your family wouldn't be happy without you being rich?

1 Timothy 6:

6 But godliness with contentment is great gain.

7 For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.

8 And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.

9 But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.

10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

I love 1 Tim 6:6. I would much rather have a vibrant, loving, close relationship with my Heavenly Father than all the riches of the world. I have seen many, many people with lots of money who were not content with what they had. They always wanted more and were never satisfied (Ecc 5:10-13 He that loveth silver shall not be satisfied with silver; nor he that loveth abundance with increase: this is also vanity. When goods increase, they are increased that eat them: and what good is there to the owners thereof, saving the beholding of them with their eyes? The sleep of a labouring man is sweet, whether he eat little or much: but the abundance of the rich will not suffer him to sleep).

In Matthew, one of the temptations the devil used to tempt Christ was all the kingdoms of the world and the glory of them (Matt 4:8). This is still one of the things satan uses to tempt the believer and draw him/her away from God. Don't fall for it.

And I am in agreement that money in and of itself is not the root of all evil. It is the love of money which is the root of all evil (1 Tim 6:10).

If we are blessed with riches, we are to use those riches to help others. There are many verses instructing us to give to others.

Worldly as opposed to spiritual....Believers are some times worldly and in so doing the following truths apply...

Their witness can be tainted
They lose reward and or do not gain the reward they could have gained (inheritance)
They have works of wood, hay and stubble as opposed to gold, silver and precious stones

Living in the flesh is being guided by the people and things around you. It is living without
God in your life and more importantly without His love. Living in the flesh is a temorary
happiness. Conversely we should strive to live in the Spirit of God. Once we are able to
do that as scripture says we become a new creation. It is a place where it is not our own
will that motivates us each morning when we awaken but rather the will of God. In this
place you will find eternal joy in life and the constant guidance of God. Once you come to
this place, there is no turning back because the joys of Spiritual life by far exceed anything
to be found in the flesh. And then you will find that there is nothing to go back to, nothing
to go back for. :D

I think you will find anyone who has many riches will say with more money comes more responsibility. In other words, making sure your able to keep it. I don't think there is such a thing as rich and easy life.
Wealthy on the other hand is different to being rich.

Go and find Steve Jobs' last dying words.

Or just read Ecclesiastes hehe

interesting, at least these verses remain me, joy and peace is the fruit of the Spirit, not the fruit of rich

To live according to the flesh is to spend your life satisfying your own physical and mental desires.
TV adverts depend on the concept of fleshly desires to promote their products.
We live in a spiritual and a physical world. Spiritually some are blind while others are not the same way some can be physically blind.
Now the concept of walking in the flesh may not directly relate to the physical life but it centralised around it. If one lives following every physical desire and list one is walking in the flesh. It is similar but not the same as living in a physical world where one has natural physical needs, like to travel or eat or go to the toilet etc.
Consider a TV as. They try to sell you the idea that you desire their product. This is the flesh.
Consider a physical need. Let's say your lawn needs mowing. You buy a lawnmower to do the job. This is not fleshly. This is buying a tool to do the job. Now let's introduce a fleshly desire. You go to buy a simple mower. You only have a small lawn and you have power points in the house next to the lawn and have an extension lead. So really all you need is a basic electric lawnmower or a basic petrol one if the price is OK and you are happy using a petrol (Gas) mower. Now you go in the shop and you see some flashy mowers that do more then you need them to. Your eyes see a large sit on mower... You dont need it as you only have a small lawn, but you listen to the flesh and buy it to show off. This is satisfying fleshly desires.
The same can be said for ladies buying new shiney furniture when you already have lovely furniture. You get it to satisfy the flesh. Pride.
Hope this explains the difference between a physical need (To have furniture to begin with or buying a tool to do a job like a simple mower to cut a small lawn... (Not saying that one should get a tiny mower when one has acres of garden to cut!)) and a fleshly desire.

Yes, if your mind is set on riches rather than the Lord, you are living according to the flesh and not the spirit.

Why do you write so tiny? It's hard of us old folks to read.
