John 14:13-14 would apply to the above. It's just something Jesus said. I don't understand what a tag is. Jesus just said to do this...
As you mentioned about your friend who you prayed for Fran., you said in your post;
I once told a girl I know, who felt her prayers weren't being answered because she was going through a divorce, that we must pray in the will of the Father. She said it sounded like a cop out.
Sometimes it's not so easy to know the will of the Father. I've been Christian many years and I'm still not sure what this means.
Do you end a prayer with "In Jesus' name we pray" or "if it be Your will"?
I guess both.
We don't get anything we want by tagging on the end "In Jesus name" or "if it could be thy will" Some pray for all kinds of things that are not in God's will or they ask "amiss" as the Bible says based on consuming it upon their own lusts. I hope you read some of the posts because the Bible tells us how to know the will of God and how to walk in the will of God. It is not hard to know the will of God when we are walking with Him each day and are intimately acquainted with Him. This takes time to do and we invest our time and our lives in Him. We soon are copying Him because we find out how much He loves us and how much He has invested in us more and more each day.
The whole premise of sharing this devotional was because most Christians don't know God loves them so much He sent Jesus His only Son to save them from eternal death and hell. But for some reason many Christians don't believe God has time or a will to help and save them from their daily problems. This is so wrong.
Jesus said He had to leave for the Holy Spirit to come. So He gave us His Holy Spirit to show us how to get out of the seemingly hopeless situations we find ourselves in right now. Those who are IN Christ have the Holy Spirit to lead and teach and guide and comfort. How can we fail since we have all these things?
